Clannad fandub. What you think of the quality?
They sound.. very weird. It's lacking in expression and emotion.
English could use a little improvement. Overall, not bad

i think the quality is on par with the commercial ones. But i think no matter what they do.. english dubs will always sound bland or weird to me.. i feel awkward watching them lol
Agree. Dubs always sound bad, sometimes you have the opportunity to listen to a good one, except for that, they all suck.
i think this is very good actually, i don't understand what you other people mean by lack of expression, have you listened to the english dubs lately? this is on par, if not better
preferable Pokemon dub more than this.. and subs instead of dub, becoz i can learn japanese.. lol.. ahaha...
i think the only dubs i ever enjoyed were cowboy bebop and hellsing (simply because of the british accents). all the new animes sound terrible in English dub format. if you don't believe me, watch Haruhi.
all anime i bought and download are japs and hv subs >__< usually when get dub animes, i delete without see next 5 minutes.. lol.. ahhaha
Japanese voices rules. All the other dub sucks.
You should give Trigun, Cowboy Bebop and Hellsing a go. But apart from those few, yeah, dubs suck pretty much.

i've never like any dubs in my life, except one, golden boy, everyone should give this a watch, it's only 6 episodes of great fun.

I curiously find the female voices quite on the girly, moe-ish side, maybe overdone. The male voices are lacking in substance... Not bad overall but this will never attain the Japanese level. why? Because seiyuu are professionals, chosen to perfectly reflect characters and their emotions. Something fansubbers or subbers from other countries can not reach because it is not their material originally and maybe because there is some lack of commitment... who knows?

nice effort however it has the same problems i always hear in dubs. It just doesn't sound natural. Imagine if it's a live action TV show. They would speak nothing like that. It's like eveyone has watched too many dubs and don't know how to speak normally now. It's a new form of english accent. Do they have to lip sync too? It is harder to speak naturally if you have to lip sync.
Its really not that bad considering that its a fandub. Pretty impressive if anything.

Dubs of anime in general are bad, the cultural differences are very hard to translate into spoken english terms. This usually leads to shortcuts where said cultural context could not be constructed and experiences changed. There are however exceptions Gundam wing and Excel Saga are two on top of my mind that have excellent dubs I prefer subs over dubs for anime or any foreign media in general. Clannad dub seems like a typical one being unable to achieve the magic as did the original

for a FANdub, i think this is actually pretty ok.
an american accent sounds weird in an anime. >_< anyway the only dub i ever enjoyed was GTO.
Oh my, xDDDD I watched the first episode of clannad yesterday. I laughed so hard with this sub, i do believe the voices match, but yeah, there is a lack of expression! "I'm getting horny" XDDDDD

Each to his own. Depends for me, sometimes the Japanese and English dubs are both good like Samurai 7 and Haruhi Suzumiya, so I will watch certain episodes in English and some in Japanese. Some have better Japanese dubs like Mao Chan and vice versa in English like Trigun. Though this is all my opinion not facts. :)

Dude, no... I don't like fandubs that can't relay the emotion properly. There are some that can do it well if not better than the english dub, but those are few in number.
For a fandub I think thats pretty damn good. The voices arn't as annoying as some of the official dubs I've watched in any case. I give it a thumbs up!!! :grin:
oh there's a dubbing which I thought was not too bad -- Howl's moving castle :D The voice actors are quite close ^^!
I think people tend to think dubs sound weird because they're not used to hearing a particular voice in a particular way in a non-Japanese language. In your mind you associate a stereotype of a voice with Japanese and it becomes harder to accept in English if they focus on matching an unnatural voice. You might feel the same effect if you've played particular Japanese ports of English games. I think they did a smashing job with that clip, even though it sounded like some people had crap recording setups.

Sounds a bit odd...but the quality is about as good as most dubs. But then again...most dubs aren't very good. Anyways, I found that some of the characters sounded pretty good, while others weren't so.
It can use some improvements, but not bad compared to licenced and dubbed anime :)
