Its been interesting reading how you discovered this site. Looks like many of you came because of the Gundam goodies a while back. Not sure if I'm going to be able to pick up the pace again on Gundam news especially that my work involves so much figures ^^; Speaking of figures, we are going to release info for 4 figures on the English Good Smile site this week - one of them in particular will have you loosing all types of bodily fluid ^^; Original text from bluey below.First of all, I'd like to thank Danny for making such a great place for lovers of anime, figures and ect. to come and share that love with others in peace! But, what brought you here? Was it a link from Google or somewhere? Did a friend or fellow otaku inform you on this place? Or was it the you tube video we all love to watch of the dancing storm trooper? Also, what made you want to join and stick around? as for me: 1)lol it was the video! 2)I joined be cause i loved the atmosphere and connection all of the members and Dannychoo.com lovers had. I had to be apart of this great experience. (BTW am I the only person that thinks that the picture up top of Danny looks like pure EPIC-ness) Danny's dancing:
me, it was a freidn who linked me to a picture of a figure, then i realized the amazing coverage danny had of hobby festivals in japan and new releases.
I discovered this great website just recently(this year), when I was googling about some figures. At the first and second time I stumbled at this site because of google, I just ignored it, I thought it is just a normal blog(I'm not really a blog reader) and continued searching. On the third time, I tried to read some articles and was amazed by its japan-related contents and also the figures/gundam articles. Then I tried to hang around, later I became a lurker. Then later on, I became a member because my brother encouraged me to do so(it's about posting on the new section -- member news). Now I always check dccom for any new news and goodies. ^^ Well, the thing that captivated me to stay here is the friendly environment -- both the friendly moderator(you know who ^^) and the friendly members(lol) that are not trolls. In short, a site that is also an opinion friendly. ^^
that is my exact same reason too! couldn't have said it better my self.
My sentiments EXACTLY!!!
same here, i got into because of the april fool's joke on megatokyo.com, but i stayed for the hto anime chicks and idols....uh wait um i mean the friendly atmosphere and...uhh to hell with it
Ditto on my first exposure being the MegaTokyo April Fool's joke... and, ahem, my repeated return being for the ladies. :) I registered just for the heck of it, and maybe being able to throw in the occasional comment as and when.
same here, i got into because of the april fool's joke on megatokyo.com, but i stayed for the hto anime chicks and idols....uh wait um i mean the friendly atmosphere and...uhh to hell with it
You read MegaTokyo too!!?
lol if I remembered correctly, I was also looking for figures in google and then stumbled on this site, ignored it because I'm not a blog reader back then, story goes on quite the same as yours lol, and then now I'm a blogger... lol
Our only difference is I'm not a good blogger, only a trying-hard-to-be and only-has-four-post blogger, lol. Well, I'm kinda happy to see some of my comrades that also has the same experience as me. ^^
ditto on captivation
I think most people would have become members because of the environment, but what drew me to the site first, was when I first bought a gundam kit and I wanted to see everyone else's works. So I was searching through google, saw one of danny's gundams and then started looking through his other kits. I was seriously amazed at how good they looked, so that's basically what drew me to the site
Ditto :)
Same here!
I was also a lurker for awhile, the reason I registered was because I wanted to post comments.
i was looking for figure stuff 1 day and 1 of the first things that goggle gave me i cliket on it and av never looked back since long live danny choo
I was google searching for Hrududu, looking for what to expect, and I hit danny's site... other than that, I occasionally hit it every so often for Gundam stuff... Now, I am a regular... T_T -where are those Gundam stuff???
I think Danny needs to get some contacts with Bandai for some free Gundam goodness he can review.
For me, I was looking up living spaces in Japan happened to come across the "Living & Workspaces" article from 2005 - been here since, but just started to actually participate ^_^;;
I dont really remember but it was either something I was searching from random curiosity or Japanator.....either those two and I stumbled upon this wonderful place
Me? It was a sunny, hot afternoon when I was at college. probably freshman by that time. I was obssessed with collecting mecha prints of different kind. When I decided to search and put gundam pics, I stumbled upon this site. I dunno what fest is that but I there I saw gundams, other mechs, and KAWAII girls.....*nosebleeds*. then every time I went out to rent my time in the internet, I always look at this site whenever I have the liberty of time that is....then i saw more than this! There I saw Eroge and other funny posts. Dolphins, eyes, you name it. And there I decided to join in just to see the uncensored pics of some eroge. But then I realized...."hey! this a site that hits my spot!" A spot were I thought that I'm the only Geek/Nerd in the world feeling alone. You know, society's outcast. I don't feel alone anymore. Even if it's in the internet that is. And since then, I felt like I had another home!
I was searching for something anime related and I stumbled upon Danny's review of the Queen's Blade Tomoe PVC.. Lol
Thank you Danny for a great site! I was looking for pictures of the PG strike gundam and happened upon danny's gallery of it, then read his gunpla guide which is what got me back into gunpla. That's a few years ago now but I only became a member early this year, I was a full-time lurker before that! I also miss the gundam stuff, I actually think that, had his site not had gundam stuff on it in the first place, I wouldn't have been interested. The same is partly true now too but I'm also quite fond of all the Japan articles and news items too =] I visit this site more than any other!
I don't really remember how I stumbled upon DC but I'm pretty sure it was related to figure. And like noob, I joined at first to be able to get the uncensored pic and well....after that it become rather easy to just post on it. ^^;
A friend once showed me the site and i got attracted to all the articles and figure coverages. Not only the figures, but everything else that's strictly Japan seems to be found here too which raised my interest and knowledge in these kinds of things
I saw figures and started becoming interested in them. My friend told me that if I was interested in figures there was only one place to go. And here I am.
Came across this site like a year ago, just browsing random stuff on Japan but didn't favourite it (I know im stupid) so it wasn't till like 3 months ago or something like that extremly late at night when I accidently discovered the 'Week in Tokyo' articles that I found out what an amazing place it is (The community is awesome, it's nice to now people share the same passions etc... as me) I lose hours on this site everyday, if I had a job (Unemployed right now *sob*) i'd probably be fired lol It's my favourite place to visit on the internet that is for sure. (And Bluey I totally agree with you on what you said regarding the pic of Danny lol)
THANK YOU!! finally! someone agrees with me about the picture!!! thank you!
I got linked to either a pic or an article by someone, and looked around the site a bit. Wasn't sure what to think as it was a lot to take in, but I came back a few days later and have been checking the site almost every day since then (about a year or two ago now... time flies).
Simple, I was searching for dancing Stormtroopers (what you don't?), and I ended up here. I was immediately hooked to this place.
I was driven here to this great wonderful site via googling for meaning of life & spotted the quality of Danny's motivational articles, that I committed to remain to this site forever & ever ^_^ Of cause all the Japan-Related stuffs too ;-) May DC.com florish for eternity!!!!!
Danny's Gundam Tutorial.. :)
I find this site almost a year ago (give or take a month). Found it through his Gundam-building article - which is funny, because I don't even really have interest in gunpla. I was just bored and clicked a couple of successive links. Found Danny's sense of humour amusing, moved on to the Japanese sections of the site. My interest in figures solely stems from all the reviews and photos that I found during that time. Joined a couple weeks later, when I wanted to see the uncensored version of...was it Fauna? I don't remember. ^^; Eventually found out how nice everyone was, and that made me stay for good.
it was a long time ago on the show Attack of the Show they covered japan and anime blogs and danny's blog was one of them and i checked it out. now i visit his site multiple times a day.
Came for the Dancing Storm Trooper...stayed for the Ladies :D
I forgot to say....Long Live Danny Choo!
I came due to Gundams and figurines, back in the days where figure.fm as saperate entity
Back in February, I was googling "Ken Akamatsu" on such a winter day, I saw the Ken Akamatsu article, a month later I joined this site, I didn't start commenting until June!! The thing that caused me to stay here, was the friendly atmosphere (unlike most of the internet community), and fellow otaku gathered here from all over the world!! LONG LIVE DANNY!! And may the force be with you!!
It was most likely looking up Gunpla back in 2006-2007 maybe? Probably after I saw a bit of Keroro Gunsou or something. :P I was always too afraid to join the site though, because I thought it was a tight knit gundam and modeling community... ;;;<.< Boy was I wrong. I kept coming back for Danny's Japanese lessons so I could teach my girlfriend more fun things to yell out loud when she visits her family in Japan. XD Oh it was fun... No wait, I think I remember looking up costuming... It was the suit! I remember, now! I googled Stormtrooper armor mods and found the site! XD And then I stayed for the other reasons... Wow that was ages ago... That's it for me, it was his armor mod posts.
His how to spray paint a gundam guide brought me here.
i was originally looking for guides/tips on building gundam models on google and there was a link to this site.i clicked on it and it was very good so i bookmarked this site.i went to the main page and saw the different articles which got me interested so i stayed
Forums actually, I was on a forum called Hobbyfanantics and lead me here on Danny's Gunpla guide.
I remember searching in google for a Nirvash model from Eureka 7 and DC.com came up on the first page. There was an article about it with awesome pictures. It was back when there was no orange on the site. How long ago is that? It musn't be that long. I didn't think anything of it, I thought it a normal blog but for some reason I came back. Random google searches brought me here. I always checked an article then looked at the bottom of the page for other articles to read. I'd be here for hours reading articles. I don't remember signing up... It just happened one day. Now DC is responsible for my likeness in figures, 2D girls and 3D pantsu weekly pics.
fellow otaku's and what kept me here? Danny's awesomeness >.<
Can't remember how I came to find this site, the only thing I know is that it was probably in September or October of 2006 and I think it was related to a Gundam kit
for me, I think it was the gundam stuff that introduced me to this awesome site/community... ^^
Free Taco Tuesdays!
Figures and Gundam. Tokyo Storm Trooper was a surprise as my friends found that before I did and now even they know about this site (despite not being a hardcore anime freak like me hehe)
gundam through google
researching my trip to Japan a year and a half ago.
Originally, this article found through google: http://www.dannychoo.com/adp/eng/904/Peace@Pieces+Hikaru.html (I still want that figure. T_T) I kept running into this site on various google searches, so I thought," what the heck, I'll stay :3"
I was looking for info about ignis max factory figure and found figure.fm, which then linked to this incredible site ^_^ Danny is great. All hail Danny!
I found DC while searching for Gundam pics. I stayed for the idols. I started posting for the 2D Girls. ^^
same here...searching for gundam pic too, stayed for nsfw contents and started to collect 2D pics ^_^
was just starting to get interested in figures, so I Googled my resources. Then I bumped into here... The rest, as they say, is history.
I don't remember if I was searching for something about mac or figures when I found Danny's site. At first I didn't register and decided to bookmark and lurk around and every week I would check here and read the articles but one day I wanted to comment on something and ended up registering and started visiting more often and here I'm now... checking DC.com at least 5 times a day to read Danny and Member News.
A friend told me about this site, mostly about the figurine releases. I stayed mostly because of the community here.
Was browsing Gundam stuffs and stumbled on Danny's site.
Sometime in 2006- 2007 I was bemoaning the fact that I was missing yet another Comiket, and after surfing Comiket related stuff I got linked to a Doujin or Comiket article by Danny. It might be this one http://www.dannychoo.com/adp/eng/713/C71+-+Doujinshi.html or even this http://www.dannychoo.com/adp/eng/1051/Comiket.html if my sense of time is really off, late 2007 seems a bit late and I think I remember Danny's name and distinctive page style from a while back.. Bookmarked site, came back earlier this year while I was personally on a bit of a downer, was surprised that the site's comments and general atmosphere were actually friendlier than usual, which cheered me up and made me start visiting the site. About 1.5 months ago I finally made an account, quite possibly to get around some uncensored shots on some doujin/eroge article ^_^ Being a hardcore otaku since the mid 90s that probably tends to be over-sensitive and prone to bouts of minor depression from my real life, a friendly site focused on my rather fanatical obsessions made a perfect fit for me.
I went on the site for some background info on what to buy (figurines) and gundam pics. Now I became a member when I wanted to do commenting and tell my stories. Now I subscribe to danny cuz it helps him pay his mortgages ^_^.
Hmm I can't remember much... It must've been the Anime Figurines Network on Facebook that lead me here. A few people from the group entered a contest here and I started looking around since there were some cool stuff Danny posted, Gundams and news from Japan. So I stayed and stayed and stayed... It's super fun here! ^_^
first came to dc.com when it was all gundam goodness. searched on google(or was it yahoo) on making gundams for busy people. dc had an article when he made his PG strike gundam, so that was it. till now it evolved into a lot of stuffs, having more figurines and japan articles than the first time i came here.. =
Same here searched google for PG Strike back in the day and came across Danny's site. Been coming back ever since.
I don't remember exactly anymore, but I think it was either an article or figure news.
I can't remember....I think it was from Google when I was searching for Gundam related bits. I can't believe its been years since I found this place. Keep it up Danny!
Have been lurking for 2 years before I decided to sign up, I believe I found the site through google because I was searching for some gravure idol goodness
Got to know this site through a friend. Was looking at gunpla modeling for busy people then. Great tutorial!~
I came here a long time ago by way of 4chan after someone had posted a bunch of Mirai pictures. Didn't register at fist, just lurked about for a while until I really had something to say in response to someone's comment and it just snowballed from there.
because danny has gundam perfect grade rx 178 mark II titan
Thats a very good reason lol. Man i love that thing
I was attracted because of your Gundam posts...Those were just too amazing!!!All that modeling, that painting!!!!!I want to be your follower!!!!!
Was looking for anime pictures on the internet. and i came to a blog with pictures of anime, and below was a link to dannychoo.com. And i really liked the site , most of all because all the information about Japan. And that is the main reason why im still a reader of this site, today.
it was either your PG Strike Gundam or the Gunpla Tutorial for me. ^^ but it certainly wasn't this: http://www.dannychoo.com/adp/eng/130/Fuc*ing.html ^^
I believe it was your detailed explanation about the work and living costs in Japan. I also enjoyed your blog posts about the various Japanese locales and events as they provide a personal insight into the workings and intricacies of Japanese culture, which I've a great interest in. Later on, I joined because of your figurine coverage, which I'm now starting to get into.
was on YouTube looking for some Star Wars stuff and then when watching a video i was looking for more related stuff on the right bracket. seen Tokyo StormTrooper. i said to my self i gotta see this since i love anything Japanish not to mention a Star Wars fan and that someone put my greatest loves together i had to see it. so after laughing till i couldn't and was gasping for air i looked who made it and found the link to this site.
