Big Bang re-creating...tree days left to our planet

GINEVRA. Lhc (Large Hadron Collider), the most powerful particle accelerator in the world at CERN (Centre for Nuclear Research), Geneva, it's ready to go.
this September 10th, a first beam of protons will hit a tour test within this 27 km long underground "galactic machine".

Now, what if something goes wrong as professor Otto Rossler (Eberhard University) says : " because of energy collision that will begin, a black hole can therefore be born and make disappear the earth within a few years".... now WTF!

I mean i still have lots of stuff to do and two days aren't so many.

Your last bigger three wishes?

Mine:
1 - Have a son and be able to play tekken with him!
2 - Take a last trip to japan, meet Danny and go buy figures with him.
3 - Destroy a car with a baseball bat ( WHY THE WORLD HAVE TO END! ARGHHHHHH)

bye!

Heres my belief to calm the tension of all people. EVERYTHING BEGINS AND ENDS WITH GOD. HE ALONE MADE THE BEGINING AND HE ALONE WILL MAKE IT'S END.
as for this so called, Black Hole....please....it's just another of those intelligent ignorance to God's eyes....I meant no offense to this comment but it's something I should say out my chest, since we all have different beliefs....so in advance, I would like to apologize. pls. dont erase this comment....

Thinking about it, only the Earth and the surrounding area will be destroyed, not everything. Thus, everything doesn't end, only Man ends and everything else continues on till it is destroyed by God itself. If you put it this way, we can still screw ourselves over.

Basically, it means to do harm to yourself (or in this case, ourselves) without intending to. Typically, the term has a connotation of permanence; that is, it's sort of implied that if you've just screwed yourself there's no real good way of fixing it.

And for another thing, god or not, we are NOT going to get sucked up in a black hole or destroyed by strangelets! >.<

Noob, that may not be the case, the Hebrew word for day is Yom which could also mean an extended period of time. so the 7 day creation scripture might also mean 7 sequencial periods not necessarily days. just think of it this way, since God is so great 7 billions of years is like 7 days to him and a big bang like flicking a match. ^^

yes...yes...I like that....finally someone who shares the same struggle as I do! He's so Great, He cannot be compared by anyone and anything! But still, I'm convinced with the 7 days. No offense bro. but I'll think of it this way. Science can't even explain how God does things and one way or the other, Science theories cannot be merged to how God created everything. And I'll say this again, man's intelligence is ignorance to God's eyes. I apologize to all of you in advance if my statement offends you. Nuff said and rest case.

Science and Religion go hand in hand if one can remain to have an open mind about the world.

The Big Bang theory was formulated by a Catholic priest. Pope John Paul II accepted evolutionary theory as being in line with the Church's beliefs.

God created all. Science is there to help explain how He did it. While we may strive to understand the mechanics to satisfy our innate curiosity and appreciation for all God has given us, we'll never fully understand the deeper meanings behind it all.

The wall is only in the mind.

insane? Ever heard of George Lemaître? google his name.
he was a Roman Catholic priest whose work on the origins of the cosmos would later be called the Big Bang theory. isn't it great how religion supports Science?

Honestly, Noob, I disagree.

Because it was stated that mankind was created in God's image, which means that mankind is allowed to do what God has done before. This will explain the creation of language, the creation and destruction of life, as well as create our own universes... even if they are fictional.

And besides, the universe and God both came to be when both negative and positive energy collided. But... If my theory about time repeating itself is true, the mentioned collision might have been his will to be able to recreate life and the concept of existence. Which means it began and ended with him, but in a manner that most not be able to really understand.

So in all cases, and removing all my theories that can explain a lot (in terms of what I have learned), what he is doing is using the ability that God has given all of us. The difference is that while the rest of us create universes in terms of stories, video games, or role-playing games... he is taking a step further and seeing if he can literally create a universe.

And who knows? If he is successful, we might have new secrets to the universe... as well as better insight to what God was thinking when he began creating things. But if he fails, he might use the next galaxy to recreate Earth and mankind... thus, everything we are experiencing now might be experienced there.

"A black hole". . . Oh, god, I see the wacko contingent is alive and well. Don't make me dig up the explanation I had to put on GAFF, please. Suffice it to say this is HIGHLY unlikely.

Omigod, and it would basically be real-life teleportation. That means that GSC could send Figmas and other figures straight to our doors--instantaneously! Mmm, I don't mind that one bit. :) I think I'd willingly follow them as a lackey if they did that.

There is such a calculation.  And it's not even a few seconds at this size; it's a fraction of a second.  It's not really going to be strong enough to do anything even if they make one.  All of this talk of the end of the world was started by the wacko fringe, but then believed by the ignorant who couldn't be bothered to look the real situation up. -_-;

I just want to know why this person said such this as a blackhole destroying Earth within a couple of years. How can a mere experiment of energy bombardment create a MASSIVE blackhole with VAST AMOUNT OF ENERGY that will destroy the Earth?
Will you please explain the concept of energy bombardment creating a blackhole? I just want to understand why some people tend to make thing bloat. (seeing that you are knowledgeable in this field, I just want an explenation :D)

Funny, I was reading about this today too. I know a little bit about CERN and even read Dan Brown's Angels and Demons that also talks heavily on the facility. I actually live a few miles from Brookhaven National Lab on Long Island and they also have a what can be considered a small version of the LHC and people a few years back got the scare about a potential black hole here, then again here in eastern Long Island if it rains people here think the sky is failing (but that's another topic). Even if LHC does create a black hole, it'll actually be no bigger than an atom so like many of the subatomic particles, it'll appear and disappear in hundreds of millionths of a second......but hey you never know.

LOL! Well, the laws of probability say that it's far more likely your paper is going to be due. Better get cracking!

Scientists like to posit worst case scenarios for new devices. Think of the original nuke tests. Some of the scientists posited that they might set the entire atmosphere on fire. While the results were tremendous, they were know where near as bad as the worst case.

I think it's the same with this black hole. Worst case scenario, probability is close to zero, though.

I only have 1 wish. To be able to spend Mankind's last days with the ones I love; Family, Ex-gf, friends etc.

But on a lighter note; wouldn't it be funny that if after all that preparation, the damn thing just gave out a choking sound like what dying car would and just fizzed out like a broken lamp.

That would suck! After all that time and money, only to realize something's miscallibrated? Or some small wad of dirt got into one of the magnets? Or one of the other thousands of minor things that could go wrong? Ugh.

Actually, now that you mention it, that's not exactly far fetched. It would still be depressing and an epic fail, though.

Scientist, unemployed.
Yep, entirely possible, but would suck major donkey balls. When they linked the two cyclotrons at Michigan State in series, they almost had a system failure. It would have ruined an entire summer's worth of work and several million that the college would have never been able to pay back. I always get a bit worried when big projects like this get ready to roll.

That's a point... but I can't even begin to even imagine what the engineers and scientists will be thinking when that happens. Billions of cash, up in smoke.

Black hole? In before all the scientific data proving otherwise, it's a bit over our heads to think that our technology could produce something like that even if it's by accident, no?
