AFA08 - A Real Anime Con in Singapore

Finally! A real Anime Convention in Singapore!

For the first time ever in South East Asia, Singapore will celebrate the diversity of Japanese Pop Culture. 

Taking place on the 22nd and 23rd of November 2008 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Center, Anime Festival Asia 2008  (AFA08) will showcase a wide array of Japanese Pop Culture related content, spanning over 5,000 sqm of space with 6 experience zones:  Akiba Town, Anime Live, Anime Blockbusters, Industry, Mangaka and Planet Mech, where visitors will gain access to exclusive content, merchandise and live acts straight from Japan. 


If you are a Singataku like me, this is absolutely amazing news. For once, Singapore is going to have an honest to goodness Anime convention, following in the footsteps of other cons such as Anime Expo. The Con is going to be sponsored by Bandai Asia and tie-ins with Studio 4degrees and even possibly SUNRISE is in the words.

With toy showcases, Anime screenings, manga galleries, gunpla contests and even cosplay events, this is shaping up to be a fantastic convention. There will be exclusives that can only be purchased there including Gundam Kits! Bandai will also be revealing some novelty toys i.e. the Mugen Puchi Puchi there as well. 

I really hope to see some CODE GEASS stuff as I will be looking forward to that most. Lastly, I hope that in the future, GSC and Max Factory will be able to join in as well. Perhaps in the future? What do you think Danny? Singatakus will be most pleased.
