PC2-6400 2GB memory is down to 3,980 yen in Akiba - seems pretty cheap to me. Has the price of memory gone down in your region too? Via Impress.
Unfortunately, no it has not. Sometimes there are good deals at like Best Buy, Circuit City, or the like. Though after a week they usually shoot back up. Though I have seen a slight drop in price over the past few years. So I guess its not too bad. In some respect it seems that America is behind the times.
You can get 2GB of DDR2 6400 dual channel memory sticks for $49 here in the USA. If you live in the USA check out newegg.com. Sorry, they don't ship to any other country. That includes Canada.
Check dealrams.com or some other online dealer, it maybe alittle bit better. I wait for ram go down to upgrade my good old vaio too >
for canadians it would be tigerdirect, NCIX, or memoryexpress.com. i live like 6 blocks away from a memoryexpress but i have no job and still am with DDR. i'll be buying a new computer once i pick up a job. it's like $60 canadian for 2GB gaming ram.
Concur, I recently added 2Gb of Corsair XMS 6400 ddr2 for only $70. Thats good in my books.
From July to now the price her is nearly 50% now. Ohhh yeah, the price is going down (but we had a dollar decrease that helped A LOT).
The price of DDR2 is dropping like crazy! You can get a 1GB ram (DDR2 667) at around RM75 (USD22) here at Malaysia. Wish my mobo support DDR2 -.- (still using DDR1)
Folks who are not familiar with DDR2 memory may think we are talking about Dance Dance Revolution 2.
here we can't even get 2GB PC2-6400 easily. It's about twice the price of Japan... -_-
the twice the price is probably correct but not being able to get them easily is a lie... when building pcs its better to go for a branded one like crucial, corsair or g.skill instead of generic ram.
Next years going to purchase a new pc for myself. I heard a news that they will release a DDR3 on next year.
uhh, i dunno if you now but DDR3 is already our ^_^:
out* It has been out for quite some time.
omajfuackinggahd this is some freak assprice drop. over here its up to 60-90 bucks for 1 GB! lets just say that i will be coming to japan with empty bags
I was going to pick up a new HDD today. Thanx for reminding me that I also need more RAM (running 1G ATM). BTW is there which online store for US/Jap PC products do people recommend that will ship to Australia?
it's funny you ask danny, i just called up a shop this morning enquiring the price for a 1GB PC5300 DDR2 SDRAM. i was kinda suprised its going for only S$31 2334YEN)! i'm gonna get a stick tomorrow. ('~')
Wow! Nice prices you got there, Danny! We can get 2Gb (6400) for about $120! The price gone down just a little bit ToT Whell, maybe it will fall down after some time.
Hmmmm, is that generic ram? Because that makes a Big difference to way its priced, good quality high end ram is more expensive than gold.
not for the same speed, DDR2 PC-6400 is dirt cheap here. buying good quality ram (2GB) won't set you back more than $100 canadian here.
G-skill ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231098
In mexico that should be around a 120 dollars, computer goods are pretty expensive around here, and all that is related to technology, is better to buy them in the internet rather than local stores. Maybe ill ask for some to you danny and sell them here XD
that is cheap! unfortunately not so much here
IT would cost around an equivalent of 8000 yen here. =( But even so, it has been dropping.
Yep, prices of memory has tremendously gone down around here but sadly not as cheap as the ones you have there. I usually go to crucial.com to see what type of memory I need and I get them somewhere else since they don't ship to my region. If only they did. *sigh*
nope... still costs like AUS$140-160
Yeah ram prices has been going down. Its a good time to update some memmory.
yep. price of PC parts here are dropping here and you can get some PC memory and other items at a cheap price ^^
Yes it has, I buyed my memory 1gb (kit of too) for 95e and now it's just 21e :D (gonna buy more when I got money).
*kit of two, not too :DD
I got 2x1GB OCZ Reaper PC2-8500 about a month ago for $60. You just have to know where to look.
Back in the summer I bought 2 x 1 GB sticks of DDR2 800 for about 80 USD. I think that's a pretty good price.
I paid $119AU for a pair of 1GB brand name sticks today.
bought 2 x 1GB of PC5300 DDR2 SDRAM today. installed into my PC together with my original 2GB of DDR2 SDRAM. but strangely instead of showing me 4GB of RAM under my computer, it shows only 3326MB? can anyone enlighten me what's going on? thanks! (am using windows vista home premium)
I think Vista Home cannot use 4 GB of memory, the total addressing range is 32 bits but a part of it is reserved and cannot be used to access RAM. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929605/en-us
Either way you look at it and no matter where you look at it. Very good deal. 3980 Yen = 24.43 Euros 3980 Yen = 17.45 British Pounds 3980 Yen = 36 Dollars (us) 3980 Yen = 1431.4 Rupee ** prices vary depending on market conditions (lol!!!)
I got a 1GB ram memory for $22 tax included and works perfect.
Price depends on the brand and timings too, cheaper sticks are usually generic ddr2-800 with 5 or even 6 CAS latency and won't support overclocking (sometimes they don't even work reliably but you only see this when you test them with a bootable memtest86 CD). That being said the good sticks are quite cheap too here nowadays, I had trouble selling the good CL4 G-Skill sticks I had before for EUR 15/GB and it was already a few months ago... In France you can get 2 GB sticks of decent ddr2-800 memory for aroud EUR 34 (Kingston brand but only CL6) faster sticks with CL4 are around EUR 50
