Looks like Bandai want a piece of the articulated figure market and are jumping on the bandwagon with their Robot Damashi (Robot Spirits) line. No need for assembly and are ready to play out of the box. The ones they had on display looked like colored plastic and not painted which made them look not so good against Revoltech. Exia is out in October and retails for 2,625 yen.
i think assembling gundams is one of the fun parts XD somehow this new one has lost its sharpness~
I agree, this is the best part. Especialy since you can mod them and customize them. The level of detail on the toys is not very exceptional...now the revoltech on the other hand....
Although it is fun to assemble gundam models i would personally like to buy stuff like this if it was available in my country, it's just cool to have figures generally around the house!
Hmm the ones I'm waiting for this line is their Code Geass mechas. IINM, they will release Gawain, Guren and several more
wish Bandai would make Revoltech like quality gundam figures. I see sprue mark on the right knee joint.
looks more like a screw to me
I see them too... Maybe the final product will be better than this display.
I noticed this too. The revoltech models are fantastic compared to most of what I see out there.
I think it's not well made, considering the inferior design, no wonder it's cheap.
Eh I just noticed; isn't the pic is depicting OO Gundam? Not Exia for sure...
Oh and one more thing, I think Bandai should abandon the idea of "not having sharp parts"(to make it safe to be played by kids) like what Kaiyodo do to their Revoltech line (which do improve the mecha looks).
Mmm looks quite plastic... the quality seems to be lagging compared to other main companies with almost the same cost.
I like assembling gundams & to be completely honest it is kinda creative but not that exciting. I don't like this one. I'm still gonna stick with the traditional gundams, where you work hard for it & even try to customize your own gundam kits.
Maybe they should try some other things, like "create your own gundam kits" where you can buy a basic model gundam kits & buy "sold seperately" added joints, armors, weapons etc.
one for the kiddies perhaps?
Looks too much 'plastic' for me, and rather pricey too. Never liked the new Gundam 00 anyway, but that might change when season2 starts (and the better grade modelkits are out)
i read some review from some blog and their response was quite ok.. the articulation was totally awesome.. i heard it is the replacement of some other product line in Bandai.. if im not wrong.. it is the replacement of MSIA line..
That's right; the MSIA line will soon be history.
Actually, according to reports, Bandai is going to continue both the Mobilesuit in Action (MIA/MSIA) line, as well as the In Action Offshoot line, despite releasing the Robot Damashii line. The next couple of MSIA releases (mostly MS IGLOO stuff) will be released at the same time as the Robot Damashii stuff. Also, some of the Code Geass stuff is split between Robot Damashii and In Action Offshoot.
Thanks for the heads up. Thought they would be the last one in the batch. News are constantly changing even for the entertainment side of life.
Turn X of course! But damn wat is the scale of this Robo Soul or Robo Spirit????????????????
Wow! Such craft! such joints!
What makes the mecha collecting item title "Gundam" popular is that the fact that you need to build it. That itself is the uniqueness of Gundam above all the possible items that one can collect. With that said i still prefer the build-it-yourself kits when it comes to Gundams.
What, their MSiA not good enough?
For that amount I'd buy it anytime!!! It may not look as good as the others but not assembly needed is a great plus to me, besides is articulated. Simply great.
Yeah I agree with most comments, assembling your own gundam is fun and you can always look back at it and say I made that :P
yeah all the companies are trying to compete with Revoltech now. Its said, but he doesnt look that cool. Plus where are the Zeons, show me some zakus and I might be impressed.
Look to the Extended MS in Action series for that. Highly recommended. Or the Super HCM-Pro series.
Yeah, I've got the Extended MSIA Char's Zaku II and it's an excellent figure both articulation-wise and look-wise. I'd put it up against any REVOLTECH figure.
Well as a MSIA and HCM-Pro fan for the past 7+ years, I'm ecstatic at the announcement of this figure line. They just announced a GP-01 Full Vernian to come out in 2009, and I'm sure it will blow away any figure of the GP-01 Full Vernian out right now (there's no FIX of the Full Vernian, and the Vers 1.0 of the MSIA is pretty stiff), and be better articulated than the HGUC kit. I know, I know, most of the Gundam fans here prefer to build theirs and probably think this looks like a piece of shit, but for pre-made figure collectors such as myself, this is good news. The Robot Damashii figures I'm most interested in are the Custom Flag II (GN Flag), the VF-25 Alto, and the recently announced GP-01 Full Vernian.
meh, they could do better...
I like building my own gundam kit, I get 50% of gundam appreciation thru assembling. ^^
did anyone notice that the 00 has extra bits on the sholders that we haven't seen yet?? missles maybe? makes it look more interesting! fix figuration is the only toys i get.. the rest are just to low quality to waste the money when i can build a detailed gunpla for cheaper!
This is Exia configuration for the second season.
Bandai can really turn out some main stream crap. Hey if they can get younger people interested in other Gundam activities all the better for them and us.
Looks small and expensive... Pass!
what I don't understand is why would Bandai continue releasing figures in the MSiA/Offshoot line despite having emphasized that the Robot Damashii is definitely better? I personally prefer having a single figure product line for consistency...
i still prefer my assembled and painted kits so I'll pass. like Tanaka and Madarame said in Genshiken, there's no love or passion poured into it if you just buy it straight from the store.
anyways fine with me . but i find that these kinda assembled gundam kits are bound to be more expensive than the normal ones
it's not the exia it's the double 00 because of the two solar furnace on the soulders !
I prefer going for the plastic model
i wonder when they will be producing MG lineups for 00 gundams... how often do they usually release new mg units?
How often? not including v2.0's and endless revamps of Zaku's and Strikes? ;) They keep on pumping out those Exia variations already, although not in MG class. I don't think we'll be seeing any MG Exia until fall/winter 2009.
Seeing how I am not a Gundam fan (anymore) and also not a Eureka Seven fan (anymore)... that just leaves me with Code Geass. So I will hope the two I want will be made soon(er or later), and while I am still into the series.
00 engine 00 GUNDAM - -b that's why 00R2 came out~~
Wouldn't this clash with the HCM-Pro line-up?
Sounds redundant....
Waiting out for a 00 series PG model. MG just doesn't cut it for me anymore. ^_^;;
Lol, the PG ZGMF - X10A Freedom is apparently next to be PG-fied. Exia might need a couple more years.
Yeah they don't even have an MG Exia yet, I think thats probably on the waiting list, hope it is out soon! A PG Freedom is long overdue lol, if I were to buy a PG, Freedom would be the one I would buy.
Is there a difference between this and the old MIAs? I personally like finished product over model for Gundams. I am too lazy to build + can't build.
I'll probably get a couple to actually play with. For something like this I wouldnt mind them getting banged up.
Just went on sale in Japan last weekend- very "hands on" instore displays that let you pose the figures. Pretty amazing for the price- http://www.tamashii.jp/special/robot_damashii/english/
