So we've talked about our fave anime, our first anime, emotional anime etc but how about the anime that all should avoid? Top wo Nerae 2 Diebuster started off being really interesting and then took a huge dive off a very steep cliff with 3 tons of lead weights tied around its ankles towards the end. The OP is brilliant, animation was good throughout and Nono is such a cutie - only to be raeped by the producers towards the end. Diebuster OP below. Macross Zero was another one that started off with high hopes and then took the same leap off the same cliff with the same lead weights around its ankles. Truly disappointing considering how good the first few episodes were. Brilliant CG work. What are the worst anime shows you've seen? Die buster image from some place.
Well, for me I think black cat was a really good anime It was very exciting at 1st then when its nearing the end, it suddenly turn into a very ugly production value.... Black Cat fans will know what im talking about... YES.... the ending... one of the worst ending I've seen in my life
yup, ending was not that good.
I can agree to that. What were they thinking?
well i didn't really like that anime when it first started off, love the manga though
Ahahah I know exactly what you mean! I really liked Black Cat... until the end. I remember screaming at my TV "WHY WOULD YOU DO SUCH A THING?!"
bobobobobobo definitely -_-" well does that even count as "anime" ^^;
I thought it was a good ending for bobobo, it was random just like the rest of the show, lol
yeah...bobobobobobo is just one heck of a stand-up comedy anime...("=_=")
WHAT!!? Don't make me use my Hanage Shinken on you!!!
It's not that bad if you like the randomness. I'm sure there is much worse out there.
Dragon Ball Z, not overall bad, but bad considering how the awesomeness descended to pure crappiness after Cell saga
Second that!
Yeah
actually starting cell...I've whimpered at it. Freeza might have fared better. It's too formulaic already :/ But yes, it's still baddass hehe
I think it lost it's edge as soon as they started putting letters at the end. The original Dragon Ball was good, but the rest just turned into humdrum homoerotic rubbish. Seriously, how many episodes does it take to power up? it's worse than Bleach in that respect.
Well, considering bleach came out WAY later and can look at the mistakes that DBZ did, it learns from those mistakes and goes another route instead of "charging for 5 episodes" sequences.
Yeah, like the "suddenly forget the storyline because we have run out of Manga so lets do this side story that has no bearing or relevance to anything for 6 months" thing. I love that... can't wait for this weeks episode though ^_^
worst anime for me would have to be... IGPX, though it isnt too bad. It's probably because im not a big racing fan. The art was good though
another one would probably be Kaze no Yojimbo and then Beyblade, KnY because you can predict almost what's going to happen, and Beyblade because I don't see the fun it battling tops
yes I thing the same of black cat anime ending. and +1 for bobobobobobo, I can't understand this anime.
I don't think your supposed to understand it, you just watch and laughingly except what is, lol
Exactly. Or more like, it takes a keen mind to understand the "non-understandable."
*nods head in agreement*
What's to understand!? Where's Don Patchi to help me out here!? Certainly far better than Zatch Bell!! Blech!!
for me its either dbz after freeza saga or naruto (its like the corronation street of anime it will never end)
well, for the naruto the fillers ain't that bad compared to bleach
I've stopped watching both fillers O.O
same here, i just can't stand fillers of those two animes. ARRRR
seconded
I dislike fillers. I also liked the cell saga but not much after that.
Really? At least the Bleach fillers are whole arcs, whereas Naruto's consist of numerous 3-part sagas streamed together.
That's true - I was actually interested during the Bento arc. Naruto fillers were more one-shots actually, and they didn't even make sense. I've ditched both of them and resorted to just reading the manga.
LOL at coronation street. They still show that in the UK eh?
Sadly yes, it just wont die.
Oh my god, still?! Half an episode was enough to make me wretch. =_= Why didn't it die?! Friends died, why couldn't they follow the example?!
Yep... and Eastenders.... and Emmerdale... and even Neighbours(though thats austrailian...)
Naruto's ok. Just too many filler episodes. Tsubasa Chronicle's not that good... compared to the manga at least XD
For me it was Inukami, Digimon, Gundam SD, Monster Rancher, Yugioh GX
Digimon, Gundam SD (we're talking the american one, right?), and Monster Rancher were all good to give me the giggles, so I couldn't help but watch them.
yes, the American ones.
I thought the 3rd series, Digimon Tamers, was the best of them.
More of a "beat 'em down and save the world" rather than "protect the world with love and peace". That's why Tamers was good.
hey I rather liked the Monster Rancher anime. its what got me into the games
for me it would be Gensoumaden Saiyuki n Groove adventures Rave.....i started my interest in anime after watching the first 50 episodes of Saiyuki, just loved the 'journey 2 the west' theme to it, but unfourtunately till to date, theres no real continuation to the story... the season 2 was crap as it did not really relate 2 the main story.. and yea loved rave so much too, but the series was stopped halfway by the producers T__T'
Yeah that was disappointing, the Rave manga was really good!
Mahou Sensei Negima.... the manga was so good but the art of the anime was......not even want to recall ...
Manga had too much panties for me, so I liked the first series more for its reserved nature. The second series was better than the first for what I've seen of it--so much better...
I liked the first series, it was consistent. The second series started great but then just died and the rest of the series couldn't keep up with the pace. Was a disappointment.
Really? That's pretty rare nowadays. I couldn't STAND the horrible art of the anime plus the fact the ending was WTF?! like. 2nd season wasn't even close to the manga and decided to be almost a series in itself that's different from the series altogether. Both hated way too much (don't get me started on the Live-Action drama)
So far there is only one Negima OVA. What anime might you be referring to?
I love Clamp's work (Chobits, Angelic Layer etc.) but I hated Tsubasa. For some reason.
take it for 2~
Well Cardcaptor Sakura and Angelic Layer was good, but I can't agree with you on Chobits... I mean, 3 filler episodes in a 24 episode series? Not a good sign.
Cardcaptor Sakura is great, although I could only find 1 DVD of it in the UK and it had those awful American voices rather than the original Japanese.
Ugh, i don't get why Tsubasa gets such high ratings either..
yea the art work kinda changes for some reason in my opinion... if you look at how they draw the faces and clothing, THAT changes quite a bit, like if you look at sakura in cardcaptors and then sakura in tsubasa you'd see what i mean... or if you look at the characters in tsubasa and code gease and then look at chobits then you'd see a major difference too >.<
I preferred Clamp anime before they started with their freaky Noodle Physics.
Tsubasa anime is just super SLOW... The manga's mroe entertaining...
I agree! The manga is actually pretty good.
Agreed. The storyline in the anime seemed to take forever to progress...
Yeah, I dropped the series half way through. When I caught the first ep of the next season, I was all "What, they're STILL looking for those things?" Loved CCS, but I had difficulty attaching myself to Tsubasa's Sakura.
hack sign. the one where they were in the real world. was it the OVA?
Yeah...they came packaged with the game...although I thought those were alright...^^;
lol, to each his own I guess. I actually slept halfway through the ova.
I watched both .Hack Sign & .Hack Root, I thought it was alright but I understood very little of it.
oh hack liminality. LOL'ed I found that weird but I had the original dvds anyway just to complete XD
thanks for the actual title
If you aren't into .Hack, it was rather hard to find the OVA interesting. Then again, even though I liked .Hack, it was kinda hard for me to find the OVA interesting. It felt kinda all over the place.
Gundam SEED Destiny.. They shouldn't have made that continuation of Gundam SEED for profit, yet giving us an illogical story.. Mwu still alive? How the hell? and many unanswered questions.. Strange Ending too @_@
Seconded!
SEED Destiny killed my faith in the Gundam franchise....Shinn was the worst character ever. Way to go Sunrise - repeat the plot of Gundam SEED in the first 40 episodes and then all over again in the last 10 >.>
In their defense, Gundam 00 seems to be pretty good, even after the trainwreck that was SEED Destiny. But then again, I don't watch most mecha shows for the plot, I watch it for the resulting plamodels that result ;)
Wait, they actually repeated the plot of the first series in a sequel? . . . That might explain why TuxedoMark's copypasta POS fanfiction actually gets so many reviews. . .
i soo agree but they redeem what they did whit Gundam 00 XD
I liked Seed Destiny better than Seed to be honest, but I cba to type up why.
I hated Seed totally after the 1st season of Seed, especially with the introduction of the failed-clone of nu gundam :P. I though Destiny waas going to be the series savior, but when the show revert to Kira as the main protoganist AGAIN, I stopped.
Yeah, that was a big flaw of Seed Destiny, they shouldn't have reverted back to Kira as the main character.
This continuation stuff is EXACTLY what so many fans want out of their favorite anime. But its also EXACTLY what ruins the whole series for everyone else. Even if you didn't like Gundam SEED in the first place, I'm pretty sure you could think up of at least one other series that suffered over-extension. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone's hopes of a good second season (for whatever anime they liked) got smashed, because it's just what they asked for. Well, yes, there will always be those few exceptions here and there, but I think you got my point. *anger starts settling*
basically, I was done with GSD when Kira (with Strike Freedom) turned into a God...
Would Death Note Kira turning into a god be better? :O
Although it had many faults, I don't consider SEED Destiny even the worst Gundam series (my answer to that is down below). The only parts that really annoyed me were brining Mwu back, destroying Cagalli's character, and Shinn (there's a difference between hotblooded and annoying screams and Shinn totally fulfills the latter). Everything else I generally liked. The MS Designs were awesome (I loved all the UC-inspired designs), we got double the Lacus (oh how I love her), and one of the most memorable Gundam battles to date, even if I hated the outcome (Impulse vs. Freedom).
Seed Destiny main cast sux. Luckily the main Seed cast save the day!!! d@@b
The worst has gotta be Final Fantasy unlimited. Complete and utter tripe.
Yeah, I have to admit that FFU really wasn't as good as it could have been... though I did end up watching the entire series
I loved FF:U. But probably because I was nut much into the game. It's a really decent and random anime if you don't think about the game much... :P
Hey, tripe is actually good. Why not just call it worthless instead of degrading something tasty? Jokes aside, I have to agree that this anime brings disgrace to its franchise. (And yes, I know that tripe means something is worthless/offensive. =D)
Top 4 of my worst anime List #1 Bible Black( one Episode was enough XD ) #2 Tenjo Tenge #3 the second half of Gundam 00 #4 Kono Minikukumo Utsukushii Sekai
Funny, I hated the first half, but got stuck in by the second half of Gundam 00... O.o Perhaps each half pertains to one side of the brain or something? :P
00 doesn't really start to pick up until we meet the Trinity siblings. Up until then it's been the Setsuna F. Seiei show.
Lol, tenjo tenge was funny but ya, not much of a plot.
even the staff noticed that the first half of the show was quite "slow"... so I'm pretty much optimistic with the approaching new season...
Oh dear, bible black is beyond bad is what i take it at, it's like...a different type of bad
tenjo tenge i like that one O_O
#1 Coyote Ragtime Show - Terrible characters (except for assassin androids =), awful plot, and the worst action sequences ever. #2 Gantz - Hideous animation and a plot that never makes any sense. Also, fighting sequences stink. #3 Chobits - Some people seem to like it, but i can't get over the stupidity of it all. Most other shows in the genre are at least somewhat funny.
Oh yes Gantz is horrible. I watched 3 episodes of it on TV. Well, that was enough XD
Unfortunately, i'm one of those people who think they have to see something completely to be able to judge it fairly, even if it obviously sucks. I'm just glad there's not a lot of really bad anime around <.<;
Aw... Chobbits was good! Really close in feeling to Sekirei.
Gasp, Heathen! j/k I liked Chobits, I consider it an Anime classic.
Loved Gantz, it has deep meaning for me. Now if I can just have the courage to finish it... I cried so hard half way through if you know what I mean... :( Chobits is another one that you really must think about; it's a beautiful fairy tail story about a doll that comes to life. It's based on a rather famous opera. I liked Chobits, because it displays love without sexual nature, which is why they keep bringing up the fact that hideki is the only virgin there. Not many shows will have that sort of romantic theme, because people typically go for the "end result" from relationships.
Also loved Gantz :D
Re: Gantz - Yep, i guess you're talking about the single decent ep in there =D But i've heard from quite a lot of people that it's great.. Different tastes and all. Also, i don't see the 'no sex' in Chobits. Chii is a vapid droid with a button in her crotch that "turns her on". Real classy. I like where the series is supposed to go, almost GITS-like 'how will we live when the computers play an even larger part' from a romantic point of view, but i thought the series itself was just painfully awful.
The button also resets her, essentially killing her persona. Which, is obviously what Hideki would never want to do. :P It's more like a pinoccio story where a doll aquires a soul, you need to watch it like that.
As Optimus Skiver says, there is much more meaning to the show than on the surface. It was more than just a simple romance anime. It addresses issues such as human/robot relationship, genuine love, etc.
Fate/Stay Night has the whole love without sex thing and that was a great anime, but so sad ; ;
That's an odd thing to say when you consider the source material is an eroge. . . O.o; Still, good to know it had enough of a plot to pull the ecchi stuff out and have it still be good.
yea i have to say the same for gantz, even though its so hard to explain the connection i had with the serie's characters but it was there and i also just happen to LOVE chobits omg... even though gantz's ending was very dissapointing i still loved the series and i never knew that chobits was based on an opera thats amazing =D
I completely agree on Chobits. They could have put the plot in 12 Episodes and there would have been still alot of boring sequences.Nothing really happens throughout the series and the happyhappy ending was a very cheap and easy ending.
What did you expect them to end it on? Hideki being sad and heart broken? Actually, that would make a better fairy tale, but still I think it ended right. It's like she was the key to living in harmony--which I agree doesn't make sense on account that they weren't really oppressed or anything to begin with.
I did expect a good ending but i thought it was quite rushed and done in a cheap way. They should have cut some of the less important episodes and the epsiode where they were reapturing everything (there didnt happen much after all) and used that free space to make a better developed ending. I was completely dyssatisfied with the way they pulled it of in the last 2 (or was it 3?) episodes.I think it would have been alot better if they would have sacrificed some more episodes for the ending I heard that the manga is supposed to be better tough
Yes, the manga ending is much better. Then again, in the anime, they condense ALL of volume 7 into ONE episode, which made me cringe, and there is a little caveat to the happy ending in the manga version. Seriously, give the manga version a try. Less filler, and more philosophy.
Manga was so much better... but more nudity... =_=
Gantz is terrible, it seems that i'm not the only who greatly dislikes gantz
Can't argue with you, I personally think the Saw movies are utter trash, but some people seem to think it has a deeper moral about what life is really worth. I saw new ways to kill people painfully. :/ Now Gantz, these people are thrown into a situation where they have no choice but to fight for their lives, and they react like they're human and there is no hero. I liked the agony they went through as they tried to live their lives, it was very realistic in that respect. What I don't like about Gantz is the fact that violence seems to be over done, and the "how far will you go to survive" aspect is put on the back burner for exploding heads. O.o Each character is guilty of a sin, and their specific sin is their weakness/strength which affects them in the game. It's more of a self reflective anime/manga that causes you to question or become disgusted with yourself.
I think gantz belong in the manga vs anime, not worst anime. I think the plot itself is original and twisted, what I do think is that the anime coulden't reach the expectations to the manga fans.
DBZ!! Charge up spirit bomb for 10+ episodes please
LOL
[This comment has been abridged for your reading enjoyment. *skips 20 paragraphs of random talk*] CRAP MY SPIRIT BOMB DIDN'T EVEN WORK!!!! >:[ *starts again*
Yea I really hate how they go on and on with trash talk and fight for like 2 minutes every episode. It's always "On the last episode of DBZ!"...blahblahblah...then the episode is over, wtf.
Agreed, I'm not sure if everyone is talking about the American Dubbed or the original but I once timed a 'stand on two mountains and stare at each other segment' They did that for a freaking 10 min, nothing happening!! Cheap way to prolong the series.
*huffs and puffs* Guy: NOO, he's TOO STRONG!!! *starts crazy power buffing for another 20+ episodes* Other Guy: (after getting the crap beat out of) *start from the top again*
Inu Yasha = the show was like a poop being flushed down the toilet...VEERRRY SLOWLY.
.....and then the toilet clogging where you get to see it again after using the plunger on it.
I second that! Sorry, at this hour, I'm currently out of toylet analogies.
Manga was better, show was like DBZ for girls. XD (thanks VG Cats for the analogy!)
It was a great show in the begining. That at the 6th season when Narukau was still allive, the show started to go down the toilet. Now, I think that the shows floating in the sewers next to a pile o crap.
I think compare to InuYasha, One Piece is the slowest anime ever. When I read the manga version, one chapter is equivalent to 10~20 episodes from the anime. d@@b
Ichigo 100% The manga was awesome, although the ending wasn't what many people expected it to be. The anime was pure crap.
Agreed T_T
Agreed
The Manga is still running over her so i cant judge its ending but the Anime was crap
Totally agreed T.T
you speak the truth good sir.
Gundam SEED Destiny, 'nuff said.
Somehow, I never managed to finish Zegapain... I think it has potential, so I may complete it. Scyred was another one that I just didn't 'feel' well enough.
...Don't know about your tastes, but I had to force myself to finish both of them. Zegapain had some interesting psychological play, but you've basically seen all there is to see in the first few episodes. Scryed just never clicked with me - didn't really like the design of anything, characters, fighting styles, plot, etc.
I really recommend that you finish Zegapain... it gave me a fulfilling feeling after completing the series (won't spoil it for you though ^^)...
Rurouni Kenshin...one of my favorite manga, and yet the anime producers got greedy and decided to make their own crappy ending arc rather than wait for Watsuki to finish the manga's "Revenge" arc.... >.< ...art took a nose-dive with the final anime arc, too...
I can't agree more though I think they were just doing fillers( like many shounen series do) to wait for the manga to at least finish up a good enough amount. But I think its ratings went down so much, the producers couldnt take it anymore and just cut it like that. Pity, the Kyoto Arc was so enjoyable.....
I read about their production decision after the show ended. It really was designed to be an alternate ending arc as opposed to just a filler. T.T I wanted to see Enishi and his crew...and more Saitou... >.<
I think I'm on my own when i say Ikkitousen. I just thought the whole storyline was so weak and predictable, that and more fanservice than fightscenes/storyline! Twas donkey poop.
Nope. I still don't really get the "plot", even after reading summaries. Partly because there was more fanservice than anything else, and partly because I was so...distracted by the fanservice that what little plot there was I couldn't keep my attention to.
Protip: People arn't watching it for the plot ;D
Dragon Destiny was alright for me but the current Great Guardians is really bad and totally devoted to fan service only.
Tokyo Revelation, Digital Devil Monogatari Megami Tensei, Ruroni Kenshin 2nd part of the serie after Shishio arc... Those are the worst anime or adaptation I've seen...
I thought Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro na was the worst. The others I've conveniently purged their names outta my head.
Haha. As per usual with these kinds of topics, i thought Brighter than Dawning Blue was great XD
Same. It was predictable as hell, but I was expecting a sappy stereotypical romance anyway and it delivered in spades.
There was one for me, if i'm not mistaken it's called Divergence Eve. One episode and that's it. Not good. Full stop.
Ahaha, Divergence Eve... occasionally I go back and watch a random episode when I feel like watching a series where the breasts are even more completely rediculous than Ikkitousen.
Amaenaide yo was so boring and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles made me sleep.
Gundam Seed Destiny. They (Sunrise) could have done better. And it seems Code Geass R2 will be following GSD.
R2 wasn't as bad; not counting the insane mechanical power-ups this time, the storyline execution and plot actually follows the original R1 formula rather than GSD. It did slant towards that dreaded path from the Chinese Federation arc till the appearance of the Geass Canceler though...
Why R2? I really like all the effed up plotwists and that. It makes it interesting, that and the fact that I pity Lelouch. Like a lot. Besides comparing GSD and Code Geass are on two TOTALLY different levels. It's just that one was executed better than the other
Bastad!! - I know this was a manga classic but the anime was nowhere near as entertaining as my friends who recommended it promised it would be. Queen Emeraldas - any anime that doesn't have an ending sucks! :) Kannon - not so much that it sucks, but that it's disappointing to see that after the brilliant character designs of Air and Clannad, Kannon was more ...uh... kid-TV-like.
Bastard! is still going in the manga, whereas the anime covered the first arc and cut out a lot of the story in the process...
For me, knowing that Kanon came out first is a good sign that Key knows what to do to get better. ...or do you just dislike the character design? (That I find just fine)
The ending to Canvas made me RAGE so hard that I regreted every second that I spent watching it.
I thought Top wo Nerae 2 and Macross Zero were pretty good haha. for me.. the worst anime i've seen is Dragonaut.
Yeah, that one started out cool, then just dropped like a rock. I dropped it after a while, because the main character kept going "WATS GOIN ON???" And all the other characters, standing buy, were just like "uh...." and didn't explain anything, even though they could have, episode after episode, and he never figured anything out, blablabla I can go on but I think you get the point.
I was really looking forward to Dragonaut, but I can't stand anime that has bad CG mixed into it. So disappointed.
Straight Jacket. Just watched the last episode last night. Huge waste of time. First episode looked promising only to get two more episodes of crap.
Not particular order (ahd for some, I've gotta give them a second chance) Zero no Tsukaima Minami-ke (sorrysorrysorry) All endless series like (DB -at least after cell game-, OnePiece -soooooooooo far away from the manga, who is excelent- Naruto, Yu-Gi-Oh!, etc) And there are a few more, but can't remember =P
At least a bright point for Yu-Gi-Oh! is that it created the Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged series, which is much better at getting the humor out than the anime!
Heh, true! Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged is such an awesome parody.
I rather enjoyed Minami-ke, both seasons. @_@
Znt was a good comedy, but some point it dissipates the storyline but I wouldn't say bad for Minami-ke! Didn't watch Yu-gi, that's nice that I avioded it.
I would have to say school days was the worst and most disturbing anime i have ever seen in my entire life. Also bad were: tenjou tenge, bakuretsu tenshi, melody of oblivion and shining tears x wind which were just plain boring. Don't know how i even finished them
Tenjou Tenge pissed me off...half the series is flashbacks, and then they end it on a cliffhanger...wtf >.<
totally agree
You mean it didn't even end properly? I got up to episode twenty-something, then I got busy with other series and never finished watching it properly.
Has nobody said Pokemon? O.o Ok, pokemon is still entertaining to me, so I can't say that. What was that anime that was basically ripping on the YuGiOh trend, but the kids all used tops that had weird holographic powers? Yeah, I remember watching that one for a few scattered episodes and thinking "what the hell?" I understand that it might be kinda cool to rip two tops next to each other in a bowl and watch one get knocked down, but to glorify it the way it did was a step beyond a life or death children's card game... I really can't think of any anime that I watched through and determined horrible at the moment, I should come back and comment after I get home from training tonight...
Pokemon, when it first started out was good. Only the games are fantastic.
fer sure like me, my sister, and even my dad were addicted to the games xD so i say that the "old school" pokemon is the best bc just LOOK at blue version or something... like u cant even tell by the pics on the battlefield wat they are but its still so fun to play!!!
You're thinking Beyblade...^^
Ah man, hated even the site of Beyblade.
Thank you my man! I keep seeing new toys that remind me of those types of shows... When will they stop trying to rape our children? :P
Hopefully when parents stop buying them for their children. :)
I rarely drop an Anime but i really couldnt stand El Cazador de la Bruja.I really like the Character Design and everthing but the story was soooo boring.I dropped it around the 7-8th episode because i was that bored by the show
Yea, I felt like that too. I heard it was rather good. Yet I couldn't bear to watch anymore because I couldn't stay interested, no matter how hard I tried.
Bad anime.... I feel lucky to never have got hitched with a really bad anime.... Even Kanokon turned out to be not that bad... (I had begun to feel sorry for Chizuru towards the end of the series...) GAH..... bad anime.... can I just say Naruto? Even the sub is dire.... and the animations bad.... Pokemon could whup its ass simply based on charm factor.... Gah.... I've really never watched a terrible anime.... I think myself lucky. OH, I just thought.... Negima. The first Negima TV, the one that fans all complained about, I didnt even get through the first 3 episodes.... And I loved the manga....
Oh.... and DBZ of course. Homo-erotic trash. Just lots of half naked men screaming at each other.
Homoerotic trash! Ahahah... I've hated DBZ for years but never thought of that angle. It's either brilliant or maybe you're ...? =P
i just remembered this -FLCL or Furi Kuri. Watched the whole OVA but couldn't make out anything. Also - Colorful. Stopped watching it after four-five? episodes.
c'mon! FLCL is a masterpiece! :D
Only if it's your thing. Otherwise you run and hide (that's what i did anyway)
Agreed and I was hiding along with Evil King (not in the same place ;) )
I couldn't agree more!!! In fact I am totally shocked to read that it wasn't well received. FLCL is one of my top favourites. It's wonderful I think. Of course I love Bo-Bobo Bo Bobobo (obviously, in case my avatar has gone unnoticed). So maybe I'm just a weirdo.
That's probably why we like Bobobo. I mean, if you can enjoy FLCL, then I am sure you can enjoy Bobobo.
Nodame Cantabile Ring ni kakero (or smth like that) Yugi oh Naruto Shippuuden (I still read the manga though) Gantz ...
Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters was awesome. Yu-Gi-Oh! GX was good. Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D is so horrible... Those card makers just want to milk the franchise for all that it is worth, destroying it in the process...
The original manga before the whole card thing started was great. ^^
Well, all manga ranking sites hate the yu-gi-oh manga. but i liked it since it was out of the box, the whole Dark games thing was just awesome, and the yugi there was pretty badass.
Whoa, what didn't you like about Nodame Cantabile? It's one of my favourites. Saikano is the standout worst anime for me. I had to force myself through that series, and it hurt my soul very badly. But not in the way the creators so obviously intended for me to hurt.
1. Excel Saga 2. Street Fighter II V 3. Tokyo Maijin 4. Vampire Knight (I'll catch some flame for this probably). 5. Jigoku Shoujo
Jigoku Shoujo was pretty good... Lot's of deep themes that reflect very accurately on society. Quite similar to Death Note for some reason. But, I guess that if that doesn't float your boat, that's cool.
Vampire Knight wasn't bad. Strangely, I kinda found it interesting. And although Jigoku Shoujo could have had better endings for each season, it was good overall.
YoakeMae - the animation made me cry blood tears especially since I played the game. ToHeart2 - Epic phail. The Kansai dialect spoken by the twins sounded "forced". Toshokan Sensou - Didn't make any sense. Inukami - WTF?
LOL Inukami! That should be highly recommended for a good laugh~!! xD
Wait, what part of Tosho Sen didn't make sense.... Thought it was pretty straight forward...
LOL I loved TOHeart2 and Toshokan Sensou! The sloppy art style for ToHeart2 just made it more funnier more me... Toshokan Sensou is kinda not logical... (Who cares about books, we got the internets!) But I do agree with what they are trying to portray, they're protecting what they love and that's what I like about that anime...
comon, didn't you watch GITS? Paper Medium superscedes that of internet, b/c who really knows where stuff from the internet comes from...
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is one of the best & worst anime I've watched best : The storyline is good & funny, fighting is awesome, get a little bit ridiculous during the ending worst : Kamina died T_T
Worst: SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who's Kamina o.o <- has not seen it yet
kamina, the single GARest life form the world has ever seen.
Kamina is awesome, truth be told, but Simon does a good job of keeping his legacy alive. Plus, he's pretty GAR himself when he wants to be.
Yeah, especially since he supplies his own sunglasses. Must have taken a hint from Trombe.
A character that you can't put his AWESOMENESS into words!!!
DAMNNIT!! x'D
thank god I already saw that part, I'm somewhere near ep 12.
Thx for the spoiler -_-;;
SPOILER INCOMING!!!!! xD
that one person dying does not make this anime bad... end of story. in fact, his death is necessary to have such a great first part finish.
Ahahahah I can't believe you spoiled it. As a mech hater, I was reluctant to watch TTGL. I only watched it because Youko looked absolutely fantastic. And the first three episodes where awesome - Youko especially so. I was in love. Suddenly, episode 4. Possibly the worst episode in the series. I was left with the feeling that they'd spent all their money on episodes one to three, and the rest of the twenty-something episodes were desert walking filler. Youko had lost that completely unnatural lustre you can only see in anime. Series dropped. Months later, when there was a lul in series I liked, I picked it up again after a few recommendations. Absolutely loved it. And Youko was still fantastic. I didn't think she could get any better, and she did. >>tl;dr youko is awesome and i would have her babies
You have to love Kamina when he spouts out lines like: "Don't believe in yourself. Believe in me...who believes in YOU!!!" It was something along those lines.
Alrighty, time to post mine... First of all, I really like alot of Anime that cover a diverse range of themes. But this is not the time to say what I like. Series which I couldn't finish... Azumanga Diaoh - Just way too slow and a most of the jokes failed to incite any laughs form me. Lucky Star, though similar to this, was WAY WAY different and exceedingly enjoyable. Hidamari Sketch - The chibi style was getting to me. Nanoha StrikerS - Nanoha was good, A's was fantastically awesome and in my top 5 list. StrikerS was a disaster. Too many characters that I did not care about, very few character development, Nanoha, Fate and most of the characters we know and love seemed to have changed too much and have faded into th background... and actually, that's about it so far...
I kinda liked StrikerS, but I guess you a have point in your sentiment
I enjoy all Nanoha series but I can see why you don't like StrikerS. In StrikerS, the focus is more on the new characters.
Geh...StrikerS...tell me about it. That show was mediocre at best....they didn't even start blowing stuff up until like episode 16! The only reason I watched that show was because of Fate, out of whom they sucked every last bit of personality....will say that she looks pretty good as a 19-year old though :p
wow, that's actually the first time I heard someone say Azumanga is boring... And hidamari si cute... Especially Yuno-chi...
I agree on StrikerS. I loved the first two series, but there was something about the third that made me not care.
I didn't think StrikerS was all that bad. It probably fade in comparision to A's and too many new characters introduced. The ending was decent enough except for the lack of action from Hayate which was a real disappointment.
I know...I really do feel sorry for all the Hayate fans out there. iirc, there was only one episode where she actually did anything :(
Wow, a whole lot of people here that I don't agree with, on many levels. Ah well, to each his own. I haven't finished watching it yet, but Shinkon Gattai Godannar is VERY boring. Also, High School Girls, even though I like fan-service and all, it doesn't even have enough to entertain, much less anything you could remotely call a "good" plot. I gave Naruto a chance a while back, and it disappointed, so I could say that I don't like it, even though I really haven't watched much of it.
Too bad about Gunbuster 2; just burned the dvds yesterday. Oh well, it can't be nearly as bad as Soul Hunter: 26 eps of pure misery. At the beginning you think 'ok, nice premise', but as it drags on and nothing happens, it gets really old really fast. Not helping are the lame pokemon-ish creatures that make some appearances, degrading animation and $#^$& ending. The only anime in my collection to score lower than a 6. Nuff said
Tokyo Underground i actully bought it for 15 quid GOD DAMN YOU SALESMAN. Vampire hunter D worst voice cast ever Dragonnaughts... Cg looks so bad..
macross 7... I just didn't get it...
you can't feel the power of his song?
FIYAH!!! XD I feel this one strays a little from the seriousness of the original, but maintains the direct sequel-ness by impressing the fact that art is so very important in culture, and that songs have powerful communicative effect. It'd probably help to know a passionate musician when you watch this one. Plus, you get music by the awesome Yoshiki Fukuama. If he doesn't pump your spirit up, then you need to get up and sing. XD
I'm actually a musician myself but Macross 7 just strayed too far from how Macross is. I'm with you on the importance of culture and how powerful songs can be but Macross 7 felt too much more like the old Idol centered animes of yore.
Samurai Deeper Kyo anyone?
haha. i gotta agree. i soo love the manga. but the anime is so crap comparitively~ >_<
Boogiepop Phantom was horrible. Couldn't even finish it. Black Cat was horrible Burst Angel was torture
the only good thing that burst angel (bakuretsu tenshi) have, is Meg <3~
I loved the manga of Black Cat, was going to watch the series but after reading all these comments I might pass and preserve the memories ^^
After watching the first two episodes of Burst Angel, I thought it was the best thing ever - I mean, how could you go wrong with girls, guns and robots, right?....Turns out you could go very wrong
Im going to have to go with..
1)Crying Freeman (Just unforgivably bad.)
2)[insert horridly dubbed American anime here] (We all know what I'm talking about...)
3)Neon Genesis Evangelion ("I'm a horrible person! *looks at recently used hand,* yeahhh.)
Awww... That scene from The End of Evangelion was classic! Which guy won't do that? :)
LOL
I thought Evangelion was over-rated too.
ok i realy liket mai hime and i loved mai otome and then i heard about mai otome zwei and i thought great a new chapter and then i watched it and nerly throu up and now there is mai otome 0~S.ifr and it worse agen and it takes them nearly a year to get the eps out its just bad bad bad bad bad
for me... final fantasy unlimited.... not worth the money... re used animation which took up alot of anime time...
Kannazuki no Miko
The mecha were awful in that show. I only bothered watching because of the OP and ED.
likewise Fonzler. Only kotoko could get me to watch that. oh yeah, and girls making out
OMG same! Kotoko was what drew me in in the first place!
Yup. Without a doubt some of the worst mecha designs I've seen. Plus, the story was not only predictable but boring.
1.Divirgence Eve. 2.Mai Hime. 3.Fate Stay Night. Although I loved the characters in all of this series I got really bored, somehow my anime needs more humor.
I'm going to assume I misread number 3...
Tastes thats all, actually I have figures of saber (2), rin and sakura, again I love the characters but really got bored with the series, and I'm also very surprised with some of my favorites been named here :I
F/SN?! cmon i mean the story was sorta meh because they combined all three paths into one but really? relative to all the other crap out there the anime was at least a lil above decent
You are probably right but it's just that I've only watched about 30 anime series, for sure there are a lot worst.
Fate/Stay Night was utter rubbish in my opinion, but then 9/10 harem converseions are. Anyone who watched the dragon sex metaphor episode and liked it really needs to watch some good anime.
JESUS CHRIST IT'S A DRAGON! GET IN THE CAR! But yeah, the anime adaptation wasn't really all that well done, but hey try the original visual novel. It's always good and the storytelling is superb. Plus the fact you were only watching the first story out of the other 3 routes. But I guess your right. It was less than decent.
Fate Stay Night?????? WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???? I'm confused.
ya see, the guy like the funny's one it natural he hates Fate XD
I didn't really like Fate Stay Night either, but that was probably because I was looking for something else in the show, and it didn't deliver. Plus I stopped watching it half way through. Maybe I should give it another try...
..... Fate Stay Night.... oh well everyone is different I guess ^^;;
yeh, dunno about what so good with F/SN good animation, but still sort of meh to me matter of taste it is what i hate most is, berserker lost 7 lives in 1 stab what the heck kind of HaX is that? mai hime was fun for 1st time, especially the yuri part :3 divergence eve, yeh, agreed
S'cry-ed. Worst ever seen for me :S.
seconded
O[]O I mean, ok, there was a lot of talking with the lips instead of the fists, but it was quite interesting overall. Well, not counting that they (production team) tried to ignite an internet flame war by making the audience guess who won the final bash-up...
Green Green was so baaad ... it was actually good. What am I saying?
I'm surprised nobody said school days except for me
it was fine for 1st time but 2nd time (i realize the sexual harem) yeh, kinda hate it, but i can only laugh XD rewatch this series for 5 times just for nice boat XD
I dropped Naruto, but I still play the games. Once Piece didn't get to me... Also, I dropped Heroic Age after 8 or so episodes, It was too slow for my tastes.
Ah, yes... I almost forgot... I know this is kinda fickle/shallow, but I don't watch any anime that has 100 episodes or more. Classic examples include: Naruto, Bleach, One Piece... I just think that long series are not nice to those who want to get into it. It would take at least a month or two to catch up...
Oh I agree
totally seconded that... (although I watched DBZ for the lulz)
but major, slam dunk, ruroni kenshin and other long series were good. well in my opinion.
The Air movie, purely because it does the series no justice. It misses lots of awesome parts (I understand they obviously can't get the whole series into an hour 30 minutes) but over that it changes the ending and some of the best characters don't even get a mention.
I think the genre types I dislike the most is mainstream, never ending anime such as: Naruto, Bleach, Gintama, D Grey Man, One Piece. Not that they're bad or anything, but it just goes on forever, like the anime artists have so much money to spend on mainstream plots and bogus filler episodes that span for months / years (I remember naruto spanning for three years of fillers). The next set are with the following reasons: Code Geass (The first one) - stopped at 14 cuz it got kinda repetitive with one guy ruling over everything. I liked season two though (R2). Animal Crossing (Movie) - boring and unproductive. It was about saving their town from something (there were no subs and I didn't know japanese). Romantic series, especially ones that don't have anything special to them like super powers or something - it's another romantic story, who needs in anime form when you can do it live. I stopped Kanon on episode 4, but people say there's sommething awesome on episode 15 or something. Persona (Trinity something) - people didn't shoot themselves in the head T_T. What a lame concept for the anime that does not contain persona qualities like from 3 for the ps2.
d-grayman is pretty much faithful to the manga...so if there are anime fillers...it's the mangaka who's really at fault ^^; it will just take a bit more patience cause the anime caught a pace too fast for the manga releases (defending lol) but naruto and bleach I had to agree. I've stopped picking up anything from both series since two years back >.>;
See, I had issues with the D Grey Man anime because it just didn't have much atmosphere to it all all. They needed a more creative production designer on it than what they had. That reminds me, I should try to catch up on the manga. I just don't have the patience to wait for something to happen every week when I can check up every couple of months and actually get some plot development. ^^; I couldn't even stand the Naruto manga. It felt like the artist hadn't planned out a plot ahead of time and just started making shit up to buy time.
code geass ep 15 - 25 is the part that build the story to R2 why'd u stop anyway? matter of taste?
Persona Trinity Soul was interesting in its own right. Although it was supposed to be set something like 10 years after Persona 3, I think it should've been more of a stand-alone anime than a "sequel." It was meant to be more of a drama show than it was an action show.
Welcome to NHK!, I enjoyed the manga but the anime was beyond crap in all senses. Evangelion, I still don't get why people like it so much. The only thing that's worth in the anime are Asuka and Misato. Koihime Munsou, I know it's a new anime but I couldn't stand it. Lame characters, horrible music and the 'nanoda~' thing... OMG that pisses me off!
well, i think evangelion was so popular 'cause in their times '90s broke the rules and show something that no ones to that time 'veen displayed. Behind all that bio-robots, angels, fights and lot of other stuff, the anime show the emotional part and presonality of EACH character, show their trubles and the way the confront them. Maybe now in time there are a lot of animes better than eva, but from the start, EVA make the rules.
have any link to read or DL the manga? want to see the difference between manga and anime if u have the .zip please upload it for me :3 nya~~~ koihime musou i only watch it too see how twisted is japanese mind i mean, they are base on romance of three kingdom, or sam kok
Hell Yeah! I thought noone would have mentioned it. Neon Genisis Evangelion! Hell, I've bought the original Japanese version, English Sub, English Dub, all the wired ass movies, and even the hentai versions... But man! What the hell is it all about???
Ogenki Clinic. Do not look it up.
Oh good golly, no. My mistake, it's Soultaker. Not even JAM Project's intro song could save it, in my eyes.
True true. ^^ But still, the OP is very cool... just the OP. xD
I don't have to look it up...because someone made me sit through an episode of it. It was slightly amusing, but it was time that could've been better spent elsewhere. T_T
curry of life.
that an actual anime? I think I heard it on a naruto episode once. lol!
yup it's from the naruto fillers. even till today i'm still traumatized by it.
I think that was a filler where Negi nearly choked to death...and that was creepy how I remembered that...
I looked up an episode summary lol
- Yu-Gi-Oh!, WTF?!?! is that... anyways... - Heroic Age... even though I watch the whole thing... pretty boring. - Tekken the Movie (I watched it like twelve years ago and I still remember how horrible it is). - Pokemon, after the sixth episode or so. Do I hear "Franchise and Merchandise"? - Inuyasha, hated the [anime] ending to no end. What ending? OUCH!!!! - Fruit Basket - YEAH!!!, you read right. Like the manga but hate the anime. Can you say SSSSSSsssssslllllllllllloooooooooowwwwwwwww? - DBZ and DBGT - the original BD was not annoying as the other installments. There is probably more that I don't like, but I'll leave it like this... *murmurs* puts me in a bad mood... PS - Chobits, spot watching after the 3rd episode.
Same here with Heroic Age and Gigantic Formula. Not really my cup of tea but the mecha is ok.
yeah, Heroic Age pretty much became repetitive around episode 14~
Demonbane is one of the worst imo but I love Al Azif as character
1. Full Metal Alchemist Movie - meh kinda pushing it. Should have just let it end on the anime series 2. FLCL 3. <insert bunch of anime with 100+ episodes> here 4. Kanokon 5. El Cazador el Bruja 6. Mai Otome Zwei (like the first 2 series though) 7. Dragonauts 8. Berserk ending (great manga though)
there are some 100+ anime that aren't bad... Kochikame should be one of them... I mean, that show is old... 160 volumes for the manga = there are viewers out there who still follow it... FMA Movie was needed to actually lay to rest FMA series... I mean they screwed up that much, compared to the anime, they need to have some way to nail the coffin. and why do people hate FLCL... It's sooo random and funny...
I agree on the series that go to 100+. Hell, 50+ is often trying my patience. With "stories" that long, I feel like yelling to them, "Get on with it already!"
About Fullmetal Alchemist... the TV second season is coming, so it didn't end just yet. http://xspblog.com/2008/08/21/fullmetal-alchemist-second-season/
what... how is that possible... Unless they got blown right back into the original world... I see bad things coming... Especially b/c it's all going to be original story...
instead of continouing the series they remake the series, precisely following manga scenario my assumption
Berserk ending was alright, lots of tears that you expected to shed from episode one. It's very Empire Strikes Back-ish, so I can understand why people wouldn't like it--most people hated ESB when it came out too.
1.) Naruto (will never be dethroned as my number 1) 2.) Inukami (what the hell is going on here) 3.) Tenjo Tenghe 4.) Kage Kara Mamoru 5.) Code GEass
Dude! Code Geass? I never thought it would be possible for any human to hate it... Anyways, why'd you not like it?
i didn't watch Code Geass and probably never will.
Same here, but I like some of the girls.
I am sorry, but the more I watch R2, the more I lose faith in it... first season was really epic and original. but this season seems like a repition, and who has the better geass...
Seconded here.
it's probably due to the fact that most of R2 is as Taniguchi (Geass Director) puts it "NOT AS PLANNED"...
...what... How can he call himself a director with that kind of comment?
the whole story: http://trainwreck.ggkthx.org/2008/08/19/taniguchi-on-geass-not-as-planned/
Too bad about not getting to know the original story, eh? Maybe he should consider writing it into a novel or summat...
Holy crud you can't be serious! You mean R2 could've been more epic than it was now?! DAMMIT SUNRISE. DARN IT ALL TO HECK!
I would have to agree with #5 simply for the fact that it came so highly recommended. Granted I have only seen a few episode (but losing motivation to move forward and trying really hard to like it), but so far my feeling is "meh".
any gundam series after Wing (not that they're horrible but because they're illogical for me) trinity blood anime (I am a fan but of the novels/manga the anime made people bash a wonderful masterpiece---trigun+hellsing ripoff they say but novel way too far from it) elfen lied - i just got it weird weiss kreuz gluhen - wtf. just pure shonen fushigi yuugi - it made me choke. may it be my local dub/english dub/sub it just sucked.
lol, you should have watch the fushigi yuugi sequel. t'was much worst. ^^
hahaha~ I did enjoy it a bit. just a bit. you know for the boys XD~ I just couldn't stand the "miaaakaaa" "oh tamahome~~~~~~!!" *insert hearts in*
I loved Fushigi Yugi... >.> Though yeah, OVA's sucked.
I was so depressed to see Fushigi Yuugi get so butchered, myself. I only watched the first 3 episodes or so, but the artist in me cringed to see Yuu Watase's beautiful character designs end up so painfully off-model in virtually every shot.
Turn A Gundam was good, it has a solid story, helped Tomino to get through his depression... if you get used to the weird mecha designs...
FLCL, Suzuka Can't think of anything else right now..
#1 worse anime-Naruto - 1 min worth of action and 30 min worth of crappy filler talk, they never start talking.....
Of the anime series that I've actually seen. By far the two worst ones are Sister Princess and Someday's Dreamers. I was actually shocked at how bad they turned out. And I haven't seen Gunbuster 2 yet (or the original Gunbuster), but I'm surprised that Danny hates it so much. Everything I've heard about it, was that it was incredible, and an awesome sequel to the original Gunbuster. And that it especially got way better towards the end. : /
IMO, Gunbuster 2 is like homage for the original Gunbuster. And also I think some concepts of it are very cool. ^^
For truly awful, I'd have to nominate "Odin - Photon Space Sailer Starlight", for being incomprehensible and just plain bad. Harmaggeddon follows closely, and then maybe Ninja Scroll.
I simply don't even try seeing them, so I only see what I like. Some have not so good ending or end kind of messed up in middle. If you want to see what I like or dislike go to anidb and see the rating I gave to what I have, most need re-rating because they were the first that I saw.
I'm actually a pretty tolerant guy, so I can watch what a lotta people consider "crappy" and still find it OK. That said though, I hated Kanokon the instant I watched the first episode. I tried to follow the storyline through reviews on others' blogs, but it still didn't feel worth it. Strike Witches might also turn up on my list as well, but it's not complete, so... *continues reading reviews*
Gantz was a good series that went sour during its last story arc that, I'm assuming, deviated greatly from the manga. As far as just bad series overall? There are so many I've rejected after just one episode, but I'd have to say Gilgamesh is one of the worst I've tried to sit through. There was so much potential in the plot and especially the design, but the show was poorly written and directed to the point that I couldn't continue watching after eight or so episodes. I sat through Tokko a while back, but that was another bad one that had no resolution. Thankfully it was short. More recently, though, I have to call out the Naruto and Bleach filler episodes as being some of the worst material ever. There's a reason certain manga properties are converted into anime, but once you remove the unique flare of the artist/writer from the equation, you just have a bad product.
one of the worst ending for me is Magikano. Then is final fantasy unlimited, the whole series is, no comment. As for GSD, I don't like the charcter Shin only, but ending quite ok for me. Then naruto and bleach I stop chasing anime (now only read manga) because too much filler.
Haha, I liked Magikano's ending... =[
Woo.. Surprise no Haruhi was mentioned.. Guess that's awesome after all ^_^
Go ahead, mess with Haruhi and you will be banned from this site lol.
