As much as I love Oshii's version, I prefer the SAC series personally.
Anyways, this looks great !!

Personally I prefer the TV series too. It's not like the films suck but in my opinion they are slightly overrated. :)

Too bad that movie version of Motoko isn't as cute as manga version by Masamune Shirow.

Noooooooooooooooo!!!
Is nothing sacred?
One of the finest anime ever, as long as they don't mess with anything else and it's just a CG upgrade that's not too bad, but really, they should have left it alone!

Because Darth Vader from the planet Vulcan visited them in the night, and he said that if they didn't remake good films, then he'd melt their brains. You know, with a walkman and a speed metal cassette tape supposedly... ;;<.<

Because they are easy to make as no one needs new and interesting ideas for it, just more and more special effects. And for the new generations as they won't watch old films because the visuals suck and they can't bear it. But GitS's is still great the first case is more likely this time.

Hm, I thought, the GitS movie was awesome but my opinion changed after I saw Stand Alone Complex. The TV series have some interesting feeling which the movie doesn't it's just dark cyberpunk. All the characters are zombies in it, they don't show much emotion and all.
And the TV has Tachikomas. <3
But I'll watch the 2.0 for the effects.

Here's something I don't get... They revise classic movies all the time, right? I'd imagine if they took the audio tracks from classic movies and just animated over them, it would be a pretty bad ass way to make them relevant to future generations. I opt for classic scifi with bad special effects first personally. :P Sometimes the story was great, but the rubber suit just had to make you laugh... Does anyone else imagine an anime version of Blade Runner looking exactly like Ghost in the Shell?

Masamune is a big pervert, and I'm actually kind of glad of that. Even though Japanese studios really turned his characters into ultra serious movies and shows for the educated, you still have to love the fact that almost all of his female character designs are 1/2 nude. Masamune FTW!

Meh, I never liked the Ghost in the Shell movie. It had terrible pacing, and really ended on a whimper. The SAC series was a million times better.

I wish they would just leave well enough alone. Part of what makes GitS so amazing is what was done with animation technology at the time. to "update" with advanced CG (and to recreate scenes with said CG) just doesn't feel right.

At least the Eva movies are reimaginings of the series.

Oh, if it's a CG upgrade without recutting the original movie then I'm really looking forward to it!
Personally to me the first "Ghost In The Shell" movie is a truly epic film, even if the movie is not as true to Shirow's original manage as the "Ghost In The Shell: Stand-Alone Complex" series is.

I still remembered that when I first watched that moive 10 years ago, I was so shocked by all those CG, and thougth that it couldn't be anymore better. But 10 years later, they make a "Upgraded" version, well, you never know. XD

No thanks-I wish they had Shirow Masamune do some of the animation. Kusanagi was cuter in the manga series. There needs to be a live action GITS. Let's hope Hollywood won't f@ck it up.

I am guardedly excited for this to hit the states... It sounds good (Lucasfilm did the CG updates under direct supervision.) and if it keeps the original movie feel, then it will be good.
And I am more a fan of the SAC than the original movie. But I still like the original movie.

I call bull on this.

If not, then 3D nipples!

Instead, they really should redo select episodes of SAC in 3D, in the style of season 1's OP.
Random Rant: season 1 ED >>>>>>>>> season 2 ED. Cos the S2 ED song is gay.
