Member zyuan also getting a load of SAFS?
Its actually his pile of gundams that he has not opened yet.
Same thing with me - got a load of figures I have not opened yet. Usually open the really nice ones first though.
As for Gundams - I really want Unicorn but know that I wont have time to make it and besides I need to finish my MG Wing Gundam. But the thing with Unicorn is that both modes are so cool - which mode do you pose?

So do you end up like zyuan with a load of unopened figures/gundams?
Zyuan original text below.
Okay, admit it... who here is guilty of buying figures/models and just leave them on the shelf/closet for any of the following reasons: 1. Laziness 2. "No time" (ex: school) 3. Playing games 4. Buying just for the sake of it 5. No motivation 6. Lost interest 7. Procrastinating 8. Lack of space 9. (Insert your reasons here) The above is my stash of models that needs to be built but been put off since the day they came out...so most of them have been collecting dust for about six months to over a year! My reasons being all of the above >_____>; I do plan on completing most of them by the end of this year though...

I was one think the same as you till I see other people work on they gunpla. I'm rather let the kit sit there till I got enough time and motivation to build an "perfect" one than a quick build

I was pretty much the same way last year. When my backlog got to an unhealthy 11+ kits (mostly MGs), I realized that I needed to stop buying Gunpla, period.

Thankfully, my interest in Gunpla has pretty much died down. Haven't picked up a single kit this year.. although I will get MG I-Justice when it comes out. ^_^

Im guilty of reasons 1,2,4,7. Right before I left japan i got my hands on 2 Unicorn gundams (so i can have one in regular mode and the other in destroy mode) Exia and Wing vers. Ka. I find myself hard pressed to invest in materials and supplies right now to finish the job, Like primer, paint, glue sand paper. all the little things that add up real fast. That and the lack of work space where im currently living makes it difficult to do it.

I must have about 7 MGs and 4 SDs lying in wait. I've slacked off real hard since the new year. But just bulldozed through my unicorn last week. The whole project (sanding, painting, coating) lasted about 8 days. But in total probably just over 16hrs of work.
It just takes so much time. Snipping, sanding and occasionally putty fixes take a huge portion of time. Then comes the painting and coating. The only thing I look forward to is getting the pieces together. The steps leading up are a drag, I think its prospect of doing so much work haha :P
But anything unpainted isn't suitable for display imo, so slave through it I must :P

none, buy them, cut the plastic cover, quick build, 1 gunpla done

i usually try finishing it after built, tho none of my after built is counted as finished :p
i'm suck at finishing

1st i don't have money to buy small compressor
2nd airbrush skill, i use chinese stuff, i know this doesn't make it ugly, but i lack experience to control it, i have never even try mr hobby paint
3rd they got a joint injury when i'm bored =P
4th the closest compressor i got is somewhere inside the mall, i got a shop that allow member to use small compressor, but, hell, fuel cost is killing me
i need like 3$ from home to mall, that's 6$ for going and going back
i only got 30$ pocket money per week -_-
other than that, laziness

Work eats up my time, causing motivation loss to build Gunpla :( Sites like dannychoo.com also seem to influence my buying sprees (Danny, my bank account hates you!).

I find buying PVC figures instant gratification as opposed to the hard labour required by Gunpla :P

I'll take #1, 4, 7, and a little bit of #8.
It takes me a lot to get moving on a new kit, I don't know why that is. I will open the box and look at the sprues and then just close the box and set it aside. Often for figures (and not just kits), I will buy them because they form a set of something (i.e.: all the Patlabor Revoltech figures, Ghost in the Shell gashapon, Batman-licensed Microman) but then get really sick of my own collection. Of course, there's just plain procrastination when it comes to putting kits together. I have other stuff to entertain myself. And finally, there's space issues. When I visit my friends' their homes look so classy with their minimalist decor and mine is just so crowded with too many figures on the shelves. So I need to rotate figures in and out of my displays because too many is an eye-sore.

School, chores, money and RPG's would be my reasons for not working with my gunpla right away.

The worst backlog I ever had was this last December. I had 3 MGs piled up, namely: The Turn A Gundam, Full Armor ZZ, and the Nu Gundam, and that backlog worsened further when I bought a 1/100 Dynames and a 1/100 Zaku Warrior. I devoted my summer to those said models. Thankfully, I was able to finish them all before school started!

Instead of figures, I would say figures AND anime. I have a backlog of 3 figures need opening/playing with, around 20 DVD's still wrapped up waiting for watching, 3 PS2 games waiting to be played, and like 11 series subbed waiting to be seen...

One of the reason I can deal with, which is work. The other one was Warcraft. Thank God I quitted that game, and now, my life seems to be starting to take shape, well, a better shape once again.

It depends. I have 3 MG Gundam's sitting on the shelf. All are primed black and ready for production, but each takes about a month (just about done with my X1). Figures I open immediately for display (though currently I'm running entirely out of room for any new additions.) If any of those GFF were in my house, they'd be opened and displayed within 30 mins. Nothing is more fun than viewing your own collection and picking one out to play around with for a bit.
