Hijacked from Meimi who asks what you think about girls playing eroge? I often see girls in the eroge shops in Akiba looking at eroge and not in particular the yaoi ones. I also see many male/female couples shopping for eroge together too. Original text from Meimi below.I'm just wondering, what do guys think about straight girls playing eroge? Not the yaoi/boy love kind, but the normal kind, guyxgirl. Maybe yuri, but yaoi is icky..(to me lol) I love the cuteness of some eroge, how can they expect girls not to like the immensely cute characters they put in some eroge's? It's just mean!!! Specially when sometimes the stories are really good! I try to play the less ero-intensive ones, but I don't really mind the ero as long as the stories good. Ever since reading/watching Genshiken I have become more and more otaku.... collecting figures, playing eroge/galge's and just being more actively otaku. And then watching some of NHK makes me wanna make my own eroge/galge, or just a non-ero visual novel! So, is it weird for girls to play eroge's? Or would you(guys) like that? (I'm sure if you asked non-otaku guys you would get different answers... but they arn't here right now lol)

lol I would imagine otakus will find it hot lol I must agree that a lot of the eroge characters are just so darn adorable ^^ I'm not interested in yaoi, but I know some of my girlfriends are either into it or like to joke about it :P (I know some of them cosplay and act out "yaoi" stuff eeeek)

Yeah, 5th element ftw. It's in my top 10 movies. about eroge: I have no problem with girls shopping for eroge. In fact it's quite hot (except if they are looking for yaoi which I don't like at all). Buying/playing these games with your GF must be even more fun.

No, not really and besides you can probably skip the ero scenes besides it's usually about the story anyways rather than the porn...okay welll except for the guys. I've played lots of visual novels, and dating sims and I don't see what's wrong with it. I haven't played an eroge though.

In my screenshot above, there be 3 eroge and 3 visual novels. I think EVER17 has to be my fave so far. It's just so brilliant... love it... Dating sims rocks too. I'd like to play more of them. And I don't usually skip the ero scenes lol.

yeah,ever17 simple rules :D Never played a dating sim though. Too bad most visual novels that there is a guy that is the one you play ^^; And iv only played one eroge so far, and it was for the story (kana little sister) and yes, i jumped over the eroge scenes >_<;;

i normally spot alot of things, like your using realtek wireless and that your internet has gone to local mode that your using utorrent and using paint shop pro listening to some music not signed into msn on IE - website dannychoo i shall stop and go to the topic again, if my gf did wht those two girls on the left did id be all for her watching it if it makes tht happen. :) btw i dont see my self as an otaku. :) (dunno wht one is really)

lol. And yes... realtek. I'm not really sure what realtek does... I have PSP 7 and other basic-y art programs(no photoshop...:sulks:) Utorrent rocks lol. I think it is fine if a girl likes to play eroge Personally i love to play them (i am a guy), but it is hard to find good english ones and even harder to find the animated eroge which are the best.

It is hard to find translations... specially of newer ones... which is a shame cos I really wanna play Fortune Arterial and To Heart 2 AD etc. The only animated one I have is Summer Days... I'm looking for a walkthrough of sorts so I can skip through to the goods(since I can't read Japanese...)

Speaking as an otaku, I think a girl who plays eroge is totally awesome, also girls who collect figures and do other otaku activities. But the eroge seems like it would be more rare and for me seems more interesting. I wish I knew girls who played eroge, lol

It's fine for girls to play eroge. However, I would probably find it awkward if my girlfriend and I both sat down and played an eroge together... But then again, I wouldn't play eroge if I actually had a girlfriend. However, I think it would feel kind of awkward if I played an eroge together with friends as well. Eroges (for me anyway) is meant to be played alone.

Bwhahahaha lol I thought it may be a tad confusing, the way I type and talk about some of the stuff on here. And yes, the waistcoat might confuse, some, but waistcoats are freakin' AWESOME!!!! (The band 'The Feeling' got me started on waistcoats last year, and I still only have one... :sob:) If you saw my Corner of Tennant(the actor David Tennant)(not expanded to door aswell lol), and my bed full of cuddly toys, it would be slightly easier to tell I was a girl lol. As a girl, I'd like to play them for the stories and characters. I might skip through the ero scenes though. I've only recently started checking out visual novels, so I haven't gotten to any dating sims or eroge games. I'd um...like to know where I could find some translated ones though.... Yaoi might be OK if it was actually well written, but what little I've seen (and I'll admit it's VERY little), has been trash.

It's perfectly fine if you're in it just for the story. Many play these games for the story. Some even skip the ero scenes. There are even non-ero versions of certain ero-games. I stick to yaoi games because... i prefer pOnOs way more than anything with a vagOOO... but I'm not above playing normal eroge. I don't find anything wrong with girls playing eroge. Just because it's aimed at a certain demogrpahic doesn't mean those're the only people allowed to play. I'd also imagine guys would like eroge-playing girls. Look at how popular Konata is!

lol genshiken. I dunno, I played too many eroge to count now. I started like back when I was about 15 years old, now I'm almost 22. Nothing weird about girls wanting to play it, because honestly some of them have amazing stories, plus it's a bit fun "living" in someone elses shoes and seeing how the decisions you make effect the outcome. Just continue doing what you do, don't mind what others say. :P After all if you do meet someone who can't accept your hobbies and whatnot, you might wanna reconsider them as friends

Hey I'm a non-otaku guy and I'm here. Thats not because I think otaku are slimy socially incompetent nerds, but lately it seems the requirements are quite steep. Frankly I would consider myself more of a Japanophile, who, among other things, enjoys anime and manga, yet not to an obsessive level. I have almost played eroge before, but that kind of thing often makes me feel a bit pathetic. I don't really get why, since I don't think people who play eroge are pathetic. But, as a "non-otaku guy" I would say its awesome for girls to play eroge. It would be most coolsome to play eroge with my girlfriend.

It's either it being too slow, or because it makes me pretend that I'm the main character in said eroge, talking to these 'girls' directly. It may be the limited number of choices that they give me. It might also be that these girls look directly at me when speaking and give me a sense of shame. It could be that I'm thinking way too far ahead, in which that when I do finish the game with all my efforts; all I would be getting are some scenes with goodies and rolling credits. When watching an anime, you're a third person, an observer, if you will. In most dating sim eroges, you're the first person party. You have full control over your action, while you do not(Limited choices). I have played SchoolDays, however, that game was more like a visual novel with very few choices to be made. I did enjoy that to an extent. Games that I have tried playing would include To Heart, Da Capo, and Shuffle. In short, it's just 'depressing' when I try and play these first person setting erogames.

For some typical people, I could say that won't be normal, normally, guys would love to play as such, but it's indecent if a girl plays an eroge game. It's not cool, referring from the post above, maybe if you want to know what's the point of these girls playing eroge, I think that would be reasonable but first impressions are people being naive.

The girls here in Danny Choo are very interesting indeed! I wish I could meet girls like them someday. Well, if I speak as an average joe it's not normal for a girl to do such things, but it's not totally wrong. If I speak as an otaku, I would immediately ask the girl: " Will you go out with me?" XD XD Anyways, I've been aching to play eroge?galge such as Muv Luv Alternative and Summer Days. Unfortunately I can't, since our household is dominated by girls, and the PC is not exactly mine.
