The graphics card to provide the ultimate gaming experience? Spent my first few years in Japan as a PC otaku going to Akihabara over and over again to exchange parts that weren't compatible with other parts. Gave up on the DIY PC scene and decided to stick with laptops as I do most of my gaming on the consoles anyway. Are you a desktop or laptop user? Via Meido Cafe where you can also see Melonpan's latest haul of goodies.
Both but i only use my laptop in school and try to only use it for school-related purposes.
same here, laptop only for school. gaming and watching anything on pc. On a side note, that's a nice graphic on the card. been looking for a new grphics card.
Hey Mimi- is there any anime/manga places in salt lake? the only place I've seen anything is at B&N and it's scarce....
desktops for me, although for work i have a laptop. as far as that graphics card goes... words fail me ^^; ita-gurafikusuka-do?
My Time: MacBook Pro (Yay!) At Work: HP desktop workstation (boring)
Self built desktop for me; don't trust pre-built machines as far as I could throw them. Also I can build a machine for a third of the price of an equal pre-built one. Wouldn't mind a laptop though just wish they were easily upgradeable.
I share the same sentiments...good on you mate.
Same here, recently upgraded mine due to motherboard failure, came half of the price of a new one. And I won a laptop that I use a lot in university, since the screen is 17" I use it for everything, except for the games that ask for more, them I use the desktop.
how do games play out of a labtop?i always did my gaming on my pc
get an alienware or voodoo and you'll know why. I do play on a laptop too, you just have to invest really big bucks on it for good measure. I prefer an SZ series vaio for the job
I'm a techie too. But lately I've also come to the conclusion that I just don't need to be tooling around inside my desktop and am currently considering making the leap to life with a laptop instead of upgrade the PC I have here.
You won't regret going to a laptop one bit. Being able to sit on my deck and do work or lounge by a pool is a bonus. I haven't turned on my desktop in over a year and don't ever really plan on it.
I guess the novelty in that card is to have a ”loli in a box” (you can hardly see hardware once it's in a case). I built my current desktop a year ago, and got a video card from 2006 for casual gaming. It's fairly simple to build a PC these days, probably easier than yesteryear; just have a fellow geek review choices.
On US boxes you'll see hot 3D rendered girls, the 2D loli is just aiming at the Japanese audience. So it's nothing special about the box art since they obviously prefer 2D over 3D.
I prefer desktop for gaming since they tend to manage heat a lot better, that and because I don't have a laptop. (yet!) Imagine taking your comp to the shop and then have a bunch of their (non-Otaku) techies see something like that! lawl
Desktop user here. Hope the pc with the card install doesn't get overheated or blown up^^, Louise magic blow things up you know....
Animu = Desktop Gaming = Laptop for me anyway.
Desktop here (iMac). Thinking about getting a MacBook Pro.
The most overpriced laptop of them all...
Alienware prices a lot higher.
Because Alienware laptops does a lot more, like say, playing videogames. Awesome hardware instead of simply good looks.
You can play games on a Mac just fine.
IMO, Alienware notebooks are really expensive. Plus they are not that portable either.. heavy as bricks. Not to mention that the juice will run up in an instant if its running on batteries
read my earlier post. see voodoo and have yourself a minimum $2000 13" laptop. good enough? How about make it $5000 for a chromed and custom tatooed voodoo:envy? That'll beat the bulky Alienware anytime
will the graphic card blew up over long period of use? ('~')
DIY PC Guy all the way. Although I'd like to have one of those SUN Microsystems Work stations for 3D and animation rigged with Quadro FX Cards! :P
Now that's nice!!! I would love an anime graphic card!!! I would go crazy for a Konata one!!!
I used to have a well spec desktop and later a laptop too. Now I have a laptop with a big screen and a decent graphics card and CPU. Gaming is really good (yeah, I know, a desktop would beat it any day). I don't actually consider this a "laptop" but more like a "portable PC".
I've never ever gotten into those kinds of phases, I'm a lazy person that's why. I'm more of a console person.
I forgot to mention: Louise... *drools* She's mine, seriously.
I completely agree with you.
My desktop hardcore! I must of the best so I can play the most high graphics games. Laptop just for going over friends houses and chilling/playing games that I can handle on it.
PS I would buy a card like that.
Yeah just having a few ppl she it would make it completely worth it
desktop user, would like a nice laptop though
Should have bought a desktop instead....stuck with my messed-up laptop!!!
Desktop, I game therefore i customized. Apart from that I do love my old iBook, if it weren't for PC games i'd have an iMac right now. And if I ever need a new laptop it'll be Apple for sure, I don't like the bundle of software that Windows laptop comes with.
id plug her into my desktop any day.
As long as this card is not based on Void magic... (Boom!) Dunno, I don't really trust Louise on this. ^^;
Aw, so mean! I trust her!!!!! >_>;;;;;;;;;;;;;; Not worried at all.
A few years ago I built myself a desktop with a OK processor, cheap graphics card, gig of ram and 400GBs of HD space for torrenting. Last month I got my tablet(HP tx2000z), I am very happy with it. I watch Anime on my tablet right from my desktop on the network.I like this setup a lot and this tablet is cool. I like that card too, almost anything is better than using than my radeon 9200. Intel is not inside but the power of Loli I wish.
!!!!! ME WANT!!! they better make the GeForce 9900 version like that too lol !!!!!!!!
Im both a desktop & laptop user. I build my own because factory made ones are overpriced & performance is average. Desktop for heavy gaming & laptop for paperwork & other things. Soon ill have to get some specialization & a job as a desktop support techie & specialze in hardware, because I like to get my hands dirty... And with this card under the hood, ill have to clean my desktop machine 24/7 coz of constant nosebleeds X-D 'sides, my graphics card on my new desktop has an Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS card (without the sexy girl pic), & she is a lot more hotter than the one in the pic X'D.
PS: Come to think of it, i havent seen any graphic cards from ELSA Technologies here in Norway. havent seen any ELSA Tech goods at the retailers & on webshops here in Oslo... I guess they got outcompetited by the more popular brands like ASUS Technology, Gainward & others... guess this one made ELSA think twice about selling such a "racy" card lol X'D
uh, sorry for doubleposting.. =(
I used to build a new machine every 2 years to keep up on the PC gaming scene. When I got my first laptop that all changed. Now, I seem to be randomly acquiring laptops. which really isn't that good of a thing. The only time I build a PC is during X-mas to make extra cash. The only problem I have with building my own is it usually costs more then to buy one from a manufacturer.
I have my own self-built desktop which, for only $1200, runs Crysis at 28fps on Very High. I've seen nearly $3000 Dell and HP machines not even reach 25fps. I'm also planning on getting a laptop pretty soon. If only the Mobile Metro would actually exist--I'd buy that thing up instantly. http://crave.cnet.co.uk/laptops/0,39029450,49290665,00.htm
Desktop user, my standards are too high to get a reasonably priced laptop. You can get a 2000 dollar laptop, and I could still outperform it with an 800 dollar (custombuilt) desktop. So not that much of a fan of laptops. Only use I would have for a laptop anyway would be a media extender, so that I could run around watching my anime and tv shows. but then again, most laptops can only do that for about two hours. so do you see my point?
If you get the right laptop, you can smack around a lot of desktops. Though I will say for $800 you are coming up a bit short in terms of performance.
Desktop DIY FTW. The only comp I will ever buy pre-built now is a laptop. Desktops are much better to work with overall, easier to see screen, less awkward typing, etc. Though laptops have their own merits, so it all depends on the situation in which you need it.
Yeah, I should've prolly used euro's Sometimes I forget the difference in value. Anyway, for about 800 euro's I could get 4 GB of low latency pc6400 ram, decent case, good amount of storage, 8800GTS (G92) and either an E8400 or Q9300, or if you spend it wisely, a Q9450. All of the above are pretty easy to OC aswell. Can't think of a reasonably priced laptop that can match that
There's not much point in getting a quad core CPU since most games nowadays still do not take advantage over all of the 4 cores. In fact having a quad core CPU might even drop a few frames for certain games. Graphic cards are more important if you are into gaming. Getting something like a quad SLI or Crossfire setup = WIN . That is if you have the monies
Yeah, but not every application is a game :P. I need a quadcore for my daily use. Besides, games are catching up, games such as supreme commander take advantage of all four cores. Four way crossfire isn't exactly money well spent either, the first two cards will give you 160% performance, but after the first two it's all negligable. Nor are the drivers for that kind of SLI/xfire fuctional. (enough)
I want a Graphics Card!!! Like that....But I'm broke :/ LAPTOP USER!!! Fo sho :D
laptops now my rig was top notch custom built 2 years ago, so i bought a laptop 3 months ago to catch up on the times.
Reading these comments, seems like most people have the same sentiments. I'm using a MacBook Pro for most everything - I have a DIY desktop, but I haven't upgraded it in two years or so and the MacBook smacks it around in terms of performance now. All I use it for is storage, since I had a couple of large internal hard disks lying around. The only thing I really hate is that I can't customize this thing.
this graphic card use in eroge only? look cool @.@". im a DIY desktop user, but next round will go for DELL or other brand, lazy to DIY ...
Self built desktop for me! Learned how to put one together in high school and never looked back. At times I curse my luck with picking components as I often have to return/exchange items multiple times till I get one that works.
the box is speaking to me its saying "buy me now, rub me here later"
I'm a hardcore gamer (esp MMO ones) and i believe to us hardcore gamers , laptop will never be advisable since we need a powerhouse medium to play (and we all know that pc games advances quickly due to the hardware requirements that will definitely drain the hell out of your pockets just in order to be updated and be able to play whatever latest there is that you want to play).
OMG, VOID LOLI ON A 8800GT, DO WANT. But, actually, on a personal basis, I am more of a console gamer, I don't have to worry 'bout compatibility with those.
I use my laptop for everything communication, while it only downloads copys of my mails and the real mail downloads go to my desktop pc and are stored there. Also i use it for Teamspeak, IRC, SKype, etc. pp. and alike while playing games on my main machine. Though a grafic card like that in the picture would make a transparent pc casing worth once in a while lol. XD My ATIs have nothing on them. :( *still wants a load of anime stickers for her laptop*
Running AMD Quad-core desktop. Built it around beginning of year. Use it for gaming and anime. My Lappy is used for school or if I'm on a road. Especially since its a Celeron.
This too good. WANT. But I just can't get it. >_<
lol currently a laptop, nice to be able to move to cooler parts of home during warm weather ^^;;;; Like the power of desktop tho :3
I'm both a desktop and a laptop user but I spent most of my time on my laptop for almost all of my work is in my laptop. I also prefer building my own desktop rather than buying a pre-built one. This way I can get the parts that I want and built the machine that I want at the fraction of a pre-built one.
Nice graphic card!!! wonder if there was a primula version tho =P as for the system, DIY desktop ftw!! maa, with DIY desktop there's flexibility, you can choose how big your storage or RAM, or any others, and it's much cheaper than buying the pre-built ones (it's all about brand it seems).. not much of a mobile user so i dont really need laptop right now, dunno a year later or so =P
u meant the ultimate EROgame experience.. XD
Both user.... I like laptop for its portability, But for stability, desktop sure is better. I played games on my laptop and it keeps overheating due to minimal ventilation.
I'm a DIY Desktop user! Never had problem...
Now that's a nice card; let Louise work some magic in my pc ^^. If I had known about this one I would have gotten it instead of my Geforce 9600 GT (btw it's huge). Decided to stick with nvidia since the first ati card I bought kept crashing and it turned out there are all kinds of bugs in the drivers....
BTW holy crap @ Melonpan's loot. And I thought I was spending too much. Where did you get all that anyway?
OH SHI- Thanks God we don't have those types of Graphic Cards here... it would probably be one more reason to go back to Desktops (I'm a laptop user only right now)... I was thinking of buying a Desktop, since my new laptop is broken and I'm waiting over 3 months for Dell's tech support already. And I probably would buy a 8800GT... so hot Louise FTW!
Desktop user here =) Currently using a 7600GT only T_T. A 8800GT would be nice to have.... The thing I like about desktops is that you can have MASSIVE storage space since the hard disks are cheaper and you can have more of em. Have about 1TB+ of storage space, planning to get a 750GB hard disk since it is getting cheaper now
a desktop user. so, wat's next? graphic card with haruhi or konata? i remember intel's intel inside with konata face on it.
Me sort of mixed user. Home = Desktop Work = Laptop Ironically my laptop is alot more powerful than my desktop now (Desktop on 7900GT + AMD AM2, Laptop on 8600M GS + Intel C2D) But my Desktop storage is massive though, it is about 2TB in total now, and I am running out of space >_<" What the...
I choose you desktop! I am a desktop user!! LOL this graphic card is truly "ultimate" coz it has Louise and pantsu... My two favourite things...
BOTH!!!! Desktop for HOME use~ Laptop for Work~ It isn't hard to the find the right graphic card for your desktop really. Just bare in mind the type of "slots" and also power it required. I think most of the recent powerful ones require a lot of power from your power supply unit~ And read some reviews and ranking of video cards online~ DIY your own computer is not a dream~
OMG lol, what an awesome graphics card to have. I have my own laptop, which I have to use for (school&art)work and gaming. I only have 1gb of freakin' ram!!! I can't wait to buy a new one with like 4gb of ram, and a decent graphics card!!!! I play consoles as well as, but my brother has the Playstation 2 in his room, uses it as his dvd player since he's too stupid to get one.... My brothers an arsemunch. I need to get a slimline PS2 for uni anyways though.... I need to many things... a PSP, 360 Elite, and now a PS3 for Little Big Planet.... :cries:
