Ultimate Graphics Card

The graphics card to provide the ultimate gaming experience?
Spent my first few years in Japan as a PC otaku going to Akihabara over and over again to exchange parts that weren't compatible with other parts. Gave up on the DIY PC scene and decided to stick with laptops as I do most of my gaming on the consoles anyway.

Self built desktop for me; don't trust pre-built machines as far as I could throw them. Also I can build a machine for a third of the price of an equal pre-built one. Wouldn't mind a laptop though just wish they were easily upgradeable.

get an alienware or voodoo and you'll know why.

I do play on a laptop too, you just have to invest really big bucks on it for good measure.

You won't regret going to a laptop one bit. Being able to sit on my deck and do work or lounge by a pool is a bonus. I haven't turned on my desktop in over a year and don't ever really plan on it.

I guess the novelty in that card is to have a ”loli in a box” (you can hardly see hardware once it's in a case).

I built my current desktop a year ago, and got a video card from 2006 for casual gaming. It's fairly simple to build a PC these days, probably easier than yesteryear; just have a fellow geek review choices.

On US boxes you'll see hot 3D rendered girls, the 2D loli is just aiming at the Japanese audience. So it's nothing special about the box art since they obviously prefer 2D over 3D.

Imagine taking your comp to the shop and then have a bunch of their (non-Otaku) techies see something like that! lawl

A few years ago I built myself a desktop with a OK processor, cheap graphics card, gig of ram and 400GBs of HD space for torrenting.

Last month I got my tablet(HP tx2000z), I am very happy with it. I watch Anime on my tablet right from my desktop on the network.I like this setup a lot and this tablet is cool.

I like that card too, almost anything is better than using than my radeon 9200. Intel is not inside but the power of Loli I wish.

Soon ill have to get some specialization & a job as a desktop support techie & specialze in hardware, because I like to get my hands dirty...

And with this card under the hood, ill have to clean my desktop machine 24/7 coz of constant nosebleeds X-D

'sides, my graphics card on my new desktop has an Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS card (without the sexy girl pic), & she is a lot more hotter than the one in the pic X'D.

I used to build a new machine every 2 years to keep up on the PC gaming scene. When I got my first laptop that all changed. Now, I seem to be randomly acquiring laptops. which really isn't that good of a thing. The only time I build a PC is during X-mas to make extra cash. The only problem I have with building my own is it usually costs more then to buy one from a manufacturer.

I have my own self-built desktop which, for only $1200, runs Crysis at 28fps on Very High. I've seen nearly $3000 Dell and HP machines not even reach 25fps.

I'm also planning on getting a laptop pretty soon. If only the Mobile Metro would actually exist--I'd buy that thing up instantly.

Desktop user, my standards are too high to get a reasonably priced laptop.
You can get a 2000 dollar laptop, and I could still outperform it with an 800 dollar (custombuilt) desktop.

So not that much of a fan of laptops.

Only use I would have for a laptop anyway would be a media extender, so that I could run around watching my anime and tv shows.

but then again, most laptops can only do that for about two hours.
so do you see my point?

If you get the right laptop, you can smack around a lot of desktops. Though I will say for $800 you are coming up a bit short in terms of performance.

Desktop DIY FTW. The only comp I will ever buy pre-built now is a laptop. Desktops are much better to work with overall, easier to see screen, less awkward typing, etc. Though laptops have their own merits, so it all depends on the situation in which you need it.

Yeah, I should've prolly used euro's
Sometimes I forget the difference in value.

Anyway, for about 800 euro's I could get 4 GB of low latency pc6400 ram, decent case, good amount of storage, 8800GTS (G92) and either an E8400 or Q9300, or if you spend it wisely, a Q9450.
All of the above are pretty easy to OC aswell.

Can't think of a reasonably priced laptop that can match that

There's not much point in getting a quad core CPU since most games nowadays still do not take advantage over all of the 4 cores. In fact having a quad core CPU might even drop a few frames for certain games. Graphic cards are more important if you are into gaming. Getting something like a quad SLI or Crossfire setup = WIN . That is if you have the monies

Yeah, but not every application is a game :P. I need a quadcore for my daily use.

Besides, games are catching up, games such as supreme commander take advantage of all four cores.

Four way crossfire isn't exactly money well spent either, the first two cards will give you 160% performance, but after the first two it's all negligable.
Nor are the drivers for that kind of SLI/xfire fuctional. (enough)

Reading these comments, seems like most people have the same sentiments. I'm using a MacBook Pro for most everything - I have a DIY desktop, but I haven't upgraded it in two years or so and the MacBook smacks it around in terms of performance now. All I use it for is storage, since I had a couple of large internal hard disks lying around.

The only thing I really hate is that I can't customize this thing.

Now that's a nice card; let Louise work some magic in my pc ^^. If I had known about this one I would have gotten it instead of my Geforce 9600 GT (btw it's huge). Decided to stick with nvidia since the first ati card I bought kept crashing and it turned out there are all kinds of bugs in the drivers....

OH SHI-

Thanks God we don't have those types of Graphic Cards here... it would probably be one more reason to go back to Desktops (I'm a laptop user only right now)...

I was thinking of buying a Desktop, since my new laptop is broken and I'm waiting over 3 months for Dell's tech support already.

And I probably would buy a 8800GT... so hot Louise FTW!

Desktop user here =)
Currently using a 7600GT only T_T. A 8800GT would be nice to have....
The thing I like about desktops is that you can have MASSIVE storage space since the hard disks are cheaper and you can have more of em. Have about 1TB+ of storage space, planning to get a 750GB hard disk since it is getting cheaper now

Home = Desktop

Work = Laptop

Ironically my laptop is alot more powerful than my desktop now (Desktop on 7900GT + AMD AM2, Laptop on 8600M GS + Intel C2D)

But my Desktop storage is massive though, it is about 2TB in total now, and I am running out of space >_<" What the...

BOTH!!!!
Desktop for HOME use~
Laptop for Work~

It isn't hard to the find the right graphic card for your desktop really. Just bare in mind the type of "slots" and also power it required. I think most of the recent powerful ones require a lot of power from your power supply unit~

And read some reviews and ranking of video cards online~ DIY your own computer is not a dream~

OMG lol, what an awesome graphics card to have.

I have my own laptop, which I have to use for (school&art)work and gaming. I only have 1gb of freakin' ram!!! I can't wait to buy a new one with like 4gb of ram, and a decent graphics card!!!!
I play consoles as well as, but my brother has the Playstation 2 in his room, uses it as his dvd player since he's too stupid to get one.... My brothers an arsemunch. I need to get a slimline PS2 for uni anyways though.... I need to many things... a PSP, 360 Elite, and now a PS3 for Little Big Planet.... :cries:
