See this a lot in Japan - food manufacturers that use an animal to promote its own meat. Here you see a chicken showing you how to make chicken nuggets. Nissin also do the same - a chick used to promote chicken ramen. Image via Neta.
I always found this idea somewhat cruel and twisted... Especially when you see/learn that farm animals can be raised, fed and killed in an awful manner. But it's just me.
vegan?
No, not vegan, but hopefully I am not a red meat freak/carnivore (especially not the fresh one). Chicken bologna, sardine and tuna (with rice or pasta) are what I eat the most often as animal meat.
lol, cool, i'm a carnivore meself and I find the idea of an animal caricature telling you its delicious and tasty funny and appealing to my more baser of instincts.
Yes, of course, and it's gotta be sold anyway (marketing), so I do understand the logic behind all this. And I'm not angry there... Grrr, grrr! Rowr! Just kidding.
but you know, it's a sad fact that the animals have to die in such a manner to feed the hungry masses. though, if you try not to think of it that way, it makes things alot easier.
i think it's sad that we have to attach human feelings and sentiments to things that aren't human. i guess thats what being humane is all about. yay for fried chicken!!!
Sadly, there is not much we can do about this, except to express some discontentment over those practices, but even that won't prevent much. We are in societies of mass consumption and waste (consuming). It's a truth to realize.
Ah, the actual term I wanted to put in parentheses was consumerism. Sorry.
And once again I agree completely with you D_Blade, and with Glasseyelashes too of course!
that's it, i'm eating meat no more. if you catch me with a hamburger, feel free to slap it out of my hand. and tempest, thank you! :)
But, I can still eat people, right?
We have been eating meat for millions of years. I don't see why we need to stop just because we feel sorry for something that we don't need to feel sorry about. We are the dominant species of this planet. I suggest we act the part. Personally, I feel more sorry for our fellow humans that can't even eat decently. My 2 cents. I love my meat.
here's a funny thought. Humans don't have the necassary bodily functions to break down fat and cholesterol that we eat from animals, so that is why HUMANS BECOME FAT!! We were not bred to be carnivores for this fact, other animals such has wolves and even dogs have certain enzymes that help them digest the fat and cholesterol of the animals they kill. as for dairy, our bodies also lack the necassary enzymes to digest LACTIC ACID from cows and other such animals. Lactose Intolerant people are actually an evolutionary change where they body is tired of working extra hard to digest the lactic acids of other animals, so it starts producing a chemical that changes the lactic acid into a methane gas, or causes severe cramps in the digestive system. And know you know, because KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!!
It's called exercise my friend.
I understand what you mean, even if those animals are to be eaten in the end, they still should be provided living environment matching their natural environment and not on tightly spaced cage or something like that. I agree with you. And to add more things, I heard the hormone of stressed animals (those grown badly) is different from the hormone of normal animals.
It is funny that animals that are able to live in more natural conditions (like chicken being fed outdoors and free to roam around) are more expensive than industrial ones. It's logical and twisted at the same time. ^^;
anyone notice that puppet thingie trying to hump that girl near the end of the ad?
You got too much imagination... Or it is that it's a really perverted bird.
I don't know if thats a bird, or whatever the hell it is, it sure ain't no chicken. Makes me not want to eat the product. Then again, i avoid all types of instant noodle foods.
LOL yeah I noticed it too.. the bird thingy just suddenly humps the womans arm hahah
Haha i'm eating a pack of tuna with a happy dolphin on it. I'm pretty sure tuna comes from tuna fish, not from dolphin. ^^ I think using a chicken to sell chicken really works. If you're illiterate in Japanese, you can at least see a picture of what the product is. Having another animal would be misleading.
I think that means the tuna you're eating is from tuna freindly fishermen. whenever fishing boats spot dolphins out in the seas, that means that there's tuna underneath them, sometimes when they net those tuna, the dolphins get caught along with the tuna and die from suffocation. seeing happy tuna on the label means they don't use the same method of catching tuna.
...happy dolphin. ^^; orz
Oh my! ^//^
You meant cetacean-friendly rather than tuna-friendly, I suppose. ^^;
whoops. hehehe my mistake. if fishermen were tuna friendly they wouldn't have any job.
They be catching dolphins instead? Who here has tried sunfish? XD
That reminds me of this... http://www.dannychoo.com/detail/mac/eng/image/616/Mambo.html Almost cried, especially the part between 0:59 and 0:48. I would make it my pet... no, rather let it leave freely and peacefully in its natural environment. I do despise fishermen and hunters for a reason (and even if the Mambo in the video may have been a dead one already... It would still be alive if it wasn't caught (accidentally?) in the first place).
I would never ever try eating the mola mola. They're already so hard to find in the wild, and usually travels solo. My last diving trip in Bali, I spent nearly 5 minutes at about 40m underwater in hopes of seeing one of those babies, but in vain, and nearly ran out of oxygen while making my ascent lol. But I do hear eating it is good for the skin or something? Or either I've been watching too much Galaxy Angels (for those who know what I mean ^^).
Haha, indeed. :)
A chicken eating another chicken? Blasphemy I say! *throws computer monitor*
Better write a letter of discontentment to the companies. Your monitor didn't do anything wrong. Innocent your screen was, I tell you!
you should see Korea. Cows holding a plate of their own intestines, piges eating their brothers, and even fish smile when they get sliced in half... not a very good thing to think about...
The chicken telling you to eat chicken is kinda funny but creepy. Though I could see it telling a group of people to drink the kool-aid too.
Chicken's revenge!!!! Is the chicken that got fired by KFC!!!
I wonder if Chick-fil-A would allow this?
doesn't chick-fil-a have the cows already?
They do, but chicken making chicken? lol
Somehow I also wondered about this sometimes lol..
so they're subliminal message promotes canibalism...tsk tsk tsk what is this world coming to?
if I'm not mistaken, mad cow disease started by making cow eat cow. then again this isn't about making chichen eat chicken. ^^; orz this is just a case of making a chicken promote and say "eat me". ^^ then again its the same as having the pillsbury doughboy sell baking products or Mr. Peanut selling Planters products. On the other hand it makes one wonder what Ronald McDonald and Col. Sanders are actually selling. ^^;
diced up clowns and tasty fried southern war veteran? Jeffrey Dahmer might've thought so...
Yes, you're right about the Mad Cow disease (with a relative form found in sheep) and its consequences as the Creutzfelt-Jakob disease in humans came from complete greed and laziness as in feeding cows (and other animals) with powder that comes from the remnants of their "brothers and sisters"... Quite idiotic. And who pays the ultimate price? The consumer, again.
Human cannibalism can lead to an affliction thats the same as mad cow disease. it's called Kuru and it's really fatal. interesting stuff, but its seems to have lost notoriety in modern times. Seems mother nature designed us not to feed on each other lest we face dire consequences.
And cannibals said that eating the brain of their foes gave them their power and intelligence (Highlander-style)... Guess it is all about a booby-trapped treasure chest, after all. Thanks for the info. I learned something new and much interesting today, thanks to you.
the feeling is mutual d_blade.
I learnt something new today! Mad cow disease was caused by cow cannibalism! No, seriously, I had no idea. I can count the number of times i had beef products with my hands, and they were all in recent times.
i want some ramen now...
that nissin video looked so good tho, gotta try that sometime LOL
I knew someone who fed fried chicken to her chickens. o.o
reminds me of Trey Parker and Matt Stone of southpark fame feeding bacon to Macon the pig.
thank goodness my seafood noodles didn't have any fish showing how to cook fish... but i suppose chicken eating chicken is kinda defeating to think about it. No wonder lots of vegans take one look at it and cringe the next second :P personally, my friend freaks out thinking about the chicken "sacrifice" O_o;; chicken run anyone?
chicken sacrifice?
you know, when they slit the chicken's neck to drain it before plucking out its feathers?? *traumatized* I saw that firsthand and I couldn't eat my dinner.... T^T
i've seen it a couple of times so i know what you mean, still its kinda disconcerting and funny at the same time to see a chicken flapping around without its head.
T_T yes and we humans first understood that gruesome tendency from the guilotine >.>;; oh well. I think I prefer to know my chicken was brought frozen rather than literally fresh :|
LOL cannibals... All of em'... And they say humans are cruel...
*Mumble* Wrong! It's just about how humans sell their product... By brainwashing their peers with such nonsense. And I fear you're aiming at the wrong target/seeing the wrong picture. XD A conspiracy? Yes, it must be one!
LOL A conspiracy it is... *On X-fIles theme*
The Chicken Council: A heretic! Kill it with fire! But frankly, I see nothing wrong with the illustrations. After all they're just pictures. Now, if there was really a case of chickens eating chickens... eek.
that's ridiculous, how does a chicken know how to cook in the first place. ('~')
Lol... I find the picture quite cute actually....
So east a chicken could do it *__*
Whoops, I meant "easy" 0__0 But I suppose East works too, it is from Japan.
maybe using a chick (as in human female) to promote chicken would be more successful
There is one in the ad, but she had to be annoyed by a guy and a mascot. ^^;;;
chicken or no chicken, i think we r giving too much importance to silly stuff. but they could have substituted the chicken cartoon with a human though...
That reminded me of the anime True Tears when Noe tried to feed some cooked chicken to the Rooster at school. Or something along those lines.
Eh? you sure about it?
i remember in potemayo, tori (the little bird that lives in potemayo's head) being fed chicken and one character making a remark about cannibalism.
Wow, it's kinda cruel. =(
Oh, the irony
lol@Chicken cannibals.
the chicken is cute :) I don't know if i agree with the use of a chicken image like this but i don't disagree either.
umm.... am i supposed to be the chicken cookin the nuggets?? XDD
Wouldn't make sense if they put a cow mascot instead of a chicken for a chicken ramen ad, right? lolx
Little cartoon chickens to promote chicken related problems? Nah... I see nothing wrong with that. It's at least way less creepy than adults dressed as vegetables to convince children that they are good for their health.
Irony anyone?
or shameless advetisment?
HAHA LOL at the top picture XD
I've always found that weird. There's this butcher I used to see on y way to work in Sydney, and on the wall was a big mural of a cow. The cow had a bib on, and a knife and fork in his (hands?) hooves, and he was licking his lips. The rump of THE SAME COW was on a chopping block, and being neatly sliced into chops. WHA...???!!! Self-cannibalism???
