uh.. the first link is dead >.<
anyway , if you are talking about the very first 2 movies of Evangelion then i must say both are differently good esp the second one - its quite bizarre and confusing - or maybe that's how it is meant to be. But if you mean the second movie as the Evangelion 1.0 well , i haven't seen it yet tho i am hopefully looking forward to watch it anytime possible.

i've seen the first remake. The animation is great (as was expected) and I like the way they re-imagined/re-animated the whole Ramiel attack.

I hope they release those in the States. I've seen (and own) the two original movies, if that's what you're talking about.

I've seen Evangelion 1.0 and it was...Actually I'm kind of undecided. I liked the higher quality animation but it still wasn't as good as I had expected. Also the quality of the character designs seemed to fluctuate randomly; sometimes it seemed like they had been given a much needed update while other times it felt like '95 again. Also the streamlining of the story got on my nerves, everything felt simplified and straight forward; part of my liking from NGE stemmed from the fact that most people sit there in a state of confusion while it all made perfect sense to me (Even "The End Of Evangelion.) The new movie feels like any average Joe could could follow and I didn't get that same feeling of... Well it's hard to explain; I guess it's the feeling that my brain is actually doing something. That being said I haven't seen the original series in years so maybe it only felt complicated because I was somewhere between 9 and 12 at the time.
Still despite the fact it felt like "Evangelion: Lite edition" I did enjoy the film and recommend it to fans of the series.

The way i see it, the movie was made so that the average Joe will indeed understand it. i think they're trying to appeal to a new generation fans here while us older generation will have to be wow'ed by the new animation and nostalgia.

My thoughts exactly, kinda like an Evangelion for Action Fanboys and I don't like that at all...

Well, I think one of the biggest problems with the original is that Shinji is the world's biggest bleeding snatch and for some reason he gets the responsibility of saving the world. Whereas this premise kinda starts as a train wreck, they did salvage it towards the end.
So far with the new movie, it seems Shinji's got some more balls to go with his giant robo, albeit they simply just cut out all of his emo moments. Granted that the first movie seems like a digitally remastered summary of the original, the previews for the second movie and the last few min of the first do imply (IMO) that they might be changing the canon entirely. Unit 05 descending from the moon? Adam on the moon? All of the Angels come from the moon...?
I think out of sheer curiosity of what they intend to do is gonna keep the old fans coming back.
