I know what you mean about the gold. Strange thing is, I didn't use any brown or dark colours at all. Just a base metallic paint and yellow ink!

Need to figure out how to get a vibrant gold colour on large areas without having to resort to the previous method I was using (too hard to get a uniform coat) and buying very expensive and very toxic paint...

are you doing battle damage??? if yes then the white area has no sign of black soot. from your pic shows much black soot on the yellow or brown area

The white looks too white and the gold part looks a wee bit darker. Did you do some preshading on the gold part?

No, I was trying to figure out how to mix a more vibrant colour of gold from my paints. Unfortunately, it darkened considerably while it dried and I couldn't figure out a way around that issue.
At least it doesn't look dull, like most gold paints.

Gold is such a hard colour to get right...

Maybe it's just me...

But the white lower part of Lancelot's face...it should form a chinguard-of-sorts, and not a mask, right? =P

nope, that really is what the mecha looks like. No chin guard.

From what I see in the anime, the bottom jaw-part should be a white strip when viewed from this angle, and not sticking out like than. It's what put me off from buying this otherwise fine kit T_O

Yeah, like what radical anime fan has pointed out.
Well, I didn't mean your work has mistakes (It's very well-done!), but the kit itself.
In the anime and illustrations, Lancelot has a white strip along the chin line, like Skull Man's mask. Not like a mask. =D

Nice work, couldn't have done any better myself. I hope you'll find a solution to that brownish gold.
Oh yeah, have you tried Gundam Markers? The Gundam CG Yellow looks like gold.

Will you be getting the Air Cavalry version?

Actually, with ep5 being shown, I think it would make more sense to wait for the inevitable "Conquista" version if I get a new one.

And I did manage to get a pretty good gold in the end after several more tries. Look out for it in my next blog post!

I just managed to watch 6 episodes of Geass R2 in one sitting!
You're right, I'll be patient and wait for the Lancelot "Conquestor".
