Never played Monster Hunter but I hear many good things about it - any Monster Hunter fans here that recommend it?
I would have picked it up earlier it if had characters like these chibi Monster Hunter girls though.

The second installment boosted PSP sales near or over ALL OTHER CONSOLES PUT TOGETHER... for the past 3 weeks in Japan.
By consoles I mean DS, Wii, PS3 and X-Box 360.

It's like, in the past 4 weeks PSPs are selling 200000 in japan every week.
DSs usually sells between 40000 and 45000 units.
Console numbers are far inferior...

So... I can only suppose the game is good. But I guess it all depends on the gamer tastes...

I'm trying it, when it gets ported. Unfortunately, my plans on learning japanese are going kinda slow... T_T

Oh, about the game itself... I read reviews and some other stuff saying that the interesting thing about it is that it's pretty simple.

You find monsters, you kill them, you get stuff from them (spoils of victory!), and then proceed to the next monster.

With multiplaying, you can exchange stuff, fight, and collaborate.

Probably lots of fun.

the downside of this game is that most of the content is only available on online play.

if it is possible to get most of the content on single player, then this would have been on my list.

Actually, only about 1/15 of the game's content is downloaded. More important is to make sure you have friends with the game, as the co-op is one of the biggest draws

basically hunting down monsters, carving them up for bits and pieces to make your armours and weapons. the hunting part is really awesome since you need different strategies to beat them... it gets pretty challenging later on. the real fun comes in when you play with other people! four people gang bashing a wyvern... good stuff

Ah yes, I'm a hardcore MH fan. It's a great game, danny, very difficult as well. The problem is that if you want to finish the game, you're required to invest hundreds of hours (not an exaggeration). Most "hunts" later on last around 40-50 minutes, and there's hundreds of quests.

It's unlikely to find those girls anywhere in the game...

I got to borrow and play Monster Hunter a while back and the game is like x1000 levels of awesomeness. You even get to use guns in the later games of thew series like MH Freedom(correct me if I'm wrong).

hey! i 'm a Monster hunter fan too! Monster hunter can be hard to play when u are playing alone, this game made me so rage that i threw me psp out of the window! Nah... i just threw it against the wall. This game is pretty fun when played together with friends or via Xlink Kai. The MH girl's outfit looks good too, specially the Kirin outfit! There are figure out but only few of of they are sexy, though.

Totally agree. Some bosses takes a few tries to get used to their fighting patterns, then you get frustrated and never want to see your PSP for the rest of the day LOL.

I always have a problem with Congalala and his fart attack >__>.

The PS2 version, online, was the definition of awesome. I almost cried when they shut down the servers, even though I hadn't played in a year and a half.

I'll never forget the first time my group and I brought down a high level wyvern. Before that, I was always the guy hiding in the cave cooking food for everyone else. But finally, after hours of work, having the armor. Dealing the final blow. Unforgetable moment in gaming, right there.

Never got the PSP versions. Monster Hunter without online is just simply failure. Do many people use xlink? That could redeem it, if I could consistently get games going.

I have it for PSP, the first one, and I must say its good but I'm the kind of person who needs more then one to play it. Its a nice challenging game but made for multiple people or someone with a hell of a lot of patience (which I seemed to have for the first 3 months).

I love/adore this game. Its one of the top games in Japan right?

Anyways, I team up with my brothers to hunt for wyvers, elder dragons etc.

I'm hoping "MH 2nd G" will port over in the west T_T . More weapons and armour, female armour is always better looking than the male armour... that black smith really hates men haha!

Btw, theres a larger version of the image somewhere on the net.
