I think this has been out for a while but its the first time I'm seeing this - the American version of Kamen Rider Dragon Knight spotted at Japanator. The last Kamen Rider I saw was Kabuto which I loved but missed Denoh and the latest one. Kamen Rider fans amoungst us?
As long as it doesn't have a Power Rangers feeling, it's fine to me. Sorry, not a Kamen Rider fan, though I played the KR V3 game on PS, finished it and liked it overall.
Awesome! American version! I used to watch Kamen Rider when I was a young boy, but don't remember which one was it(It was in spanish too).
There was actually one long ago in U.S. called Masked Rider, which is Kamen Rider Black, back in 1997. If you are referring to that.
not to be mean or picky it was Black RX stock footage used in the US and thats all the US is ever gonna get -_-

I'm a big fan of Kamen Rider. I think this season of Kiba is rather good actually.

OMG! I was already judgmental about it when I hear the words "American Kamen Rider", but wow it actually looks good. The acting is actually... GOOD acting! Doesn't look like a stupid Power Ranger acting crap. Geez if this is successful I can't wait to see Kamen Rider 555 (Faiz), my favourite modern Kamen Rider series, becoming the next season! Please be successful, please be successful... My only complaints... they shoulda went with "Masked Rider" instead of saying "Cummin Rider" 0.o
"You're now a 'Carmen' Rider." Huh? They should just stick to Masked Rider instead of Kamen Rider for this American version. Hope this does not flop like the horrible Masked Rider in the 90s. The transformation sequence for this is pretty good...even the bikes transform! But the thing about them transforming anywhere and the rest of the Riders being lackeys to one villain is like very 'Power Ranger'ish. By the way, I'm a huge Kamen Rider fan too...watched every Heisei series except for Kuuga...Faiz and Den-O so far are my favs... キバット、行くぜ！
@Danny: after Kabuto, there's KR Den-O and now KR Kiva which is airing. I heard that the "Henshin" term in KR Ryuuki has been replaced with "Ignition" ^^;
i think that Masked Rider Dragon Knight is gonna go the way of Masked Rider and of every other metal and J-hero show that is shipped to the US. i also think its best to stay with the original. then also i would say out of every Kamen Rider i seen Faiz has the best movie Kabuto best armor and weapons and show and Den-O the best music Best riders i think Blaster Form Faiz Gatack (cast off) Zeronos (all forms) Ixa (all forms) Hyper Kabuto Blade king form Garren (all forms)
Wow, I'm gonna watch it.. Singapore did show all the Mask Rider series till 'Mask Rider Blade'.. After that they just stopped showing newer ones.. Hope the dubbing is alright.. :)

I'm definitely going for Kamen Rider. More coolsome. And buddy, not to intentionally burst your bubble, but that's "Power". "Rower" brings up a very different image for that group (Their Megazord is a giant dragon boat) XD

Oh wow that new trailer just blows my mind. Soooo much new footage that they made for this version! Ryuki even got his own bike, wow. I hope the percentage of new footage in the actual series will be just as much. This is looking really good actually. Bravo Adness, and I WILL be buying the DVDs once it's out =) I'm a fan of rider as you can see. My favourite in no particular order is Faiz, Hibiki in Ryuki. For anyone remotely interested in Kamen Rider, if you are an anime watcher I suggest you check out faiz or blade. Storyline wise these two are quite close to anime style storytelling and are actually better than most anime nowadays imo. If you're a drama watcher or never watched rider before (or watched Black / RX), I suggest Agito, Ryuki, or Kuuga. Lots of (realistic) drama between the characters and a good balance between old school / new gen feel And just a note, usually a rider show takes a while to heat up, especiall Blade... so if you want to give it a chance please give it like 15 or so episodes =)
Yeah! Totally agree with you. For me, I would class Hibiki under drama as well. I personally feel that Hibiki has failed in terms of Kamen Rider feel(fighting, kaijuu design...and the bikes!), yet is superb in terms of its story and character development. Especially for Zanki and Todoroki. And yeah, many people I tried to introduce tokusatsu to just dun stay long enough for the story to develop. And yes, Blade is indeed slow on its start-up, but rocks hard later on. Den-O is even slower...yet it has the most wonderful story after Faiz. =)
I've never seen anything with Kamen Rider, is it any good?
My favourite series is Agito and Blade. Agito has nice drama and later on in the series it gets intense as well. Same for Blade but it has more bling and it ends really nicely to be honest. I do like Garo but only for the action scenes. How's KR Kiva btw?
Curious, what do native Japanese think of the acting in this type of show? I think the failing of American-adapted tokusatsu series is that they cast unknown actors who deliver very child-like dialog and are generally unconvincing to adults' ears (they frequently overact, etc). I'm afraid I see the same kind of acting in this trailer. Yes, I watched the original KR Ryuki series and I liked it. The bits of exposition in this clip makes it obvious "Dragon Knight" will be COMPLETELY different. A lot about the nature of the Rider mythology was left unanswered in Ryuki (Japanese seem to love that sort of thing). Dragon Knight's trailer comes right up front and tells us it's about an invasion and tricking people into becoming Riders to help... what the heck?
... Nah, not exactly my kind of boat. I'm long past that stage now.

i liked it better when it was called power rangers anyway, i haven't really gotten into kamen rider after kabuto, nothing lived up to it
for me......i think US version is a pain in the arse....sorry about that but i like it better in japanese version. YA KNOW....ONLY 1 SHALL EMERGE VICTORIOUS AND THE REST SHALL FALL KIND O THING...focuses more on fighting each other than helping one another to prove whose the strongest rider
The guy that made this is a rider fan too (old school) so who knows, maybe he'll throw in a surprise for us and use the actual ryuki plot as a plot twist? Maybe it's because you're in philippines but here in US / Canada, some of us fans kinda want Kamen Rider to go mainstream, so this looks like a really good chance for it to be so. (since the original masked rider port from RX sucked bad) And for poeple saying you're "past that age": if you're still watching anime, you're so not past kamen riders (unless you stick to just serious ones like Ghost in the Shell). If you watched Black as a kid, this is not the same stuff.
I second that. I've heard countless people saying that Kamen Rider is 'childish' or other...silly words, yet they are people who still watch Anime. For crying out loud. For old-school Kamen Rider fans...and current ones too...try wtaching Kamen Rider THE NEXT. It's the first Kamen Rider series I got frightened by scenes in the movie. I deem the movie as horror tokusatsu...has even more fright moments than GARO!!! But I think the movie really present the true nature of the Kamen Riders. =)
Yeah! Ryuki's Riders were all fighting for themselves...one wish. Dragon Knight is about 2 Riders fighting the rest to...protect the world? While the evil Riders willingly fight for a single mastermind... ...I miss the friendship and at the same time, inevitable rivalry between Shinji and Ren. And not forgetting Asakura's attitude!

The only Kamen Rider I have ever watched is Kamen Rider RX when I was like 10. I like it a lot. I watched it while eating dinner every night.
Rider fan here, Black/RX still my Fave so far. Watched Kuuga, AGito, Ryuki,555,Blade,Kabuto. Hate Hibiki, Den-0 and KIva :P
It looks good for an Americanized version of the Kamen Rider franchise and for a first real and Stand alone of Kamen Rider series. Even though I've only watched Kabuto and currently watching Kiva and didn't follow Den-O, it could have potential. Probably, I'm going to watch it, if it play in my region and if it isn't too kiddy "à la Power Ranger morale!". And a reason to start watching the television too :D
Sorry for the double post, It's an adaptation of the Kamen Rider Ryuki O_o' too, I do hope they don't screw up the story too much though >_>
