WILLCOM D4

WILLCOM D4
Akihabara News has their hands on one of the smallest Windows Vista machines I've seen so far - I was hoping that the MacAir announcement was going to be something this small but alas...

The size is 84x188x25.9mm, weight is 470g, screen is 5” with a 1024x600 resolution and LED backlight powered by a 1.33GHz Atom Z520 with 1GB of RAM - all for 90,200 yen.
More pics at Akihabara News and ITMedia also has some pics.
On your want list?

Hmm... for something like this, I really feel the need to get a wrist mount for it. My only problem here is the screen is so small, it loses some functionality for me.

i'd get it and put xp on it. if this takes off though it would mean that it could evntually surpass things like the psp, ipod etc.

it just need a brillant marketing campaign and a good development team

While I admit those things are shiny, sexy and desirable, I wouldn't spend that kind of money on them.

First because I'm kinda of a heavy user... so either it has full functionalities, or I'd rather buy something bigger and carry it on a backpack.

I'm also not making lots of trips, and also don't need to use computers a lot outside...

For entertainment purposes, I already have a PMP, PSP and DS...

Finally, a screen that size and small keyboards only makes my neck, wrists and eyes hurt.

I have no use for those. But I know lots of people who definitely would buy it. Same as MacAir, iPhone, Nokia N95 and tons of other stuff... I don't have use to them, but I know lots of people who does.

This is madness. eee's 7" and only got 800x480 and I find it quite hard to read sometimes. How are you supposed to read anything at 5" - 1024x600? X_X

The device itself looks cool tho, altho I'm not sure if it will be functional for what I want it to do ^^;

A 1024x600 resolution will make everything look tiny on that screen.. Can barely see the mouse pointer from here and you will have to strain your eyes just to read the super small fonts..

This UMPC has a bigger screen and I think its cheaper too, cant remember the price but here it is http://www.htc.com/www/product.aspx?id=600
