Industrial Game Machines

(Games(38)

We all play our console game machines for free at home but did you know that there existed game machines for "industrial use" where one would pay something like 100 yen for 15 mins to play on the Famicom or Super Famicom?
More game machines at Isesaki.

why would a reviewer pay 100 yen for 15 minutes to review a game? anyways, i think this is more in the line of a cheap alternative to buying arcade machines. just provide your on big monitor, hook the machine up and then leave it in your laundromat or whatever place of business.

there's an arcade in orlando that has a similar type deal. they have an arcade cabinet with MAME on it, and for just a quarter you can choose whatever game you want from a long list of arcade games (for example, they have every version of street fighter 2 on it) and play it.

I'm pretty sure I actually played on that industrial Nes at Ikea here in The Netherlands, they used to have one in the kids corner but it was set to free play mode.

Hmm, this is interesting.

I would love to have one of those in my office, pay everytime I want to play Super Mario and use that money for good use(or atleast pay for gasoline).

never knew that sort of "for industrial use" game consoles existed...
when i was growing up, there used to be this shop near my house where the owner bought a few ps ans ps2, a few hundred game titles and charged us 3 bucks an hour for the ps and 5 bucks for the ps2...
me made big bucks doing it for a few years...

I remember at one point in time there was something called Play-Choice 10 that was an NES set into an arcade cabinet. You'd select between 10 games (hence the name), and putting more quarters in would give you more time. I always felt it was a rip-off, but then again I was a spoiled kid that already had a bunch of NES games, usually the ones I wanted to play in the PC-10, too.

I love that the Famicom (NES to those of us in the US) looks like a WWII era radio. Awesome mod!

The machine at the arcane? That sounded somewhat... cool! XD
The arcane machine...

Anyways, back in the dayze, game rental stores had something similar... only instead of making a machine to control time, they had a guy to time 30 minutes of videogame playing for similar prices.

Here in Brazil, paying a crappy wage for someone to time the console rental is far cheaper than building an automated machine to do the same thing.

Unfortunately no one does that anymore. I'd really like to have PS3, X-Box 360 and Wii renditions of those.

I still don't think it's worth buying last gen consoles (apart from portables), but all three have games I'd like to try.

Don't know about the SuFami, but I know one can pay a certain amount to play the PS or PS2 in certain stores.
Don't know what the rate is though.

You can get boards that allow you to use MegaDrive/Genesis carts and other consoles as arcade machines... I remember a dairy down from my old school had one about 10 years ago with Street Fighter 2...

Oh, and there was also that "Playchoice" thing for SNES and NES.

I think I've seen that before somewhere, pretty interesting. From the looks of the first one, they were using an NES to play the games. Maybe it won't crap out over time through blowing in catridges.
