Kotobukiya just announced that they also are releasing a figure of Haruka Takamori. Will retail for 6,090 yen and is out July. Koto version on the right and the alter version on the left - which do you prefer? The alter version has more detail on the hair and does not have that metal bar propping her up which I like. The face looks cuter too. Nice pic of Haruka in action at Hemisphere. Image via Kotobukiya.
the alter version is miles better
i prefer Alter's version, looks more detailed, but i'm skeptical about the support, looks like it'll lean and bend overtime
Alter, but that's just me being nit picky. Otherwise with the same pose they look virtually the same.
i like the face expression better on the alter version. It just "feels" more appealing
Alter's version looks better, but still can't get any of them :( But for Alter's version, there's a fear of a leaning figure due to that pose without a support. That should be the reasoning behind Koto's metal bar.
one legged figurines definitely will bend in the future, the best way is to keep them in their packaging itself. koto's haruka resembles more to the animation, her body is proportionally better(bustier) than alter's that looks a bit skinny. i'll go for koto's version because you definitely need the metal bar if you want to put her on display
Call me Devil's Advocate but I prefer the Kotobukiya version. For sure the Alter one has better finishing touches and is spared from having this odd metal bar, but I like her face in the Koto one.
DEVIL!!............advocate
LOL but i prefer the altered version d_blade. although kotobukiya is the company that makes my favorite armored core models, haruka looks a bit. . . . odd in the koto version
Some oddness is good from time to time to spice up your life! But more seriously, you have the right to challenge others' points of view and give your opinion. I don't mind at all. Yet I like this figure (and it wasn't for the eyes first, trust me)
The Koto version does have bigger eyes when compared to the alter version!
You like the koto version because she have the larger eyes I tell you!!!
Bigger eyes... Now that you mention it...
The Eyes have influenced you.
they say you can see into people's soul through their eyes
You're not saying that goes for dudes as well, are you?
Both figures are nice, the alter one is much more detailed, but that pose worries me about bending. The kotobukiya is a little less detailed, but its a little chunkier and I dont mind that metal bar holding her up. End the end, ill probably get the Kotobukiya one.
I noticed this too earlier while surfing HobbySearch. I thought there was some kind of rule against using the same pose? I see this as some sort of inter-company friendly competition. As for which figure.. It would definitely be Alter's. Something about Koto's looks a bit chubby.
Chubby is good to me.
Alter version. The figure is slimmer/more slender, has more details, and the coloring seems nicer too. Hair is more detailed, and the coloring of the hair is more detailed. I like both, but since I can choose, it would defnitely be the Alter version. Notice that Koto version eyes are bigger. :D
I like the alter version better but the one legged pose does worry me, the last thing I would want is a bent figure. =/
There'll most likely be a second metal rod on that leg, this what I call the photoshop magic XD. Just look at Nadie for example.
Alter is better off for me.....better touches and like the glassy looking base........but the Koto have better looking facial expression................and ...........bigger eyes.....
the alter is better...
Alter's version is much better than Koto's, even if her eyes are a bit smaller. The support for her leg and the lack of detail in Koto's figure surprises me though since they usually produce excellent quality figures.
Yo don't be fulled by Alter's promo pics, they like to show something pretty and in the end there's a second metal bar supporting that leg, just look at Nadie from El Cazador promo pics then look at pictures that people take. I prefer the Alter one definitely
I'll have to say Koto version. Just because of that metal bar on the Alter version...
There's just something about the alter version that looks more natural.. i think it's the pose, it looks like she's literally moving while the koto version, which i'll probably get anyway, looks like she's posing for an antm model shoot (not to be taken as an offensive statement of course). :]
Fierce!!! be more Fierce!!!
alters haruka has a better finish in more ways then koto... better lean creates a better action pose, cuter face, nicer hair detail ,a more streamline body, nicer looking scarf... koto's version is the opposite of all that i mentioned above... there is only 1 + factor for koto's haruka is that she has bigger eyes...
The Unaltered one looks kind of fat, the color seems washed out and the metal seems distracting.
I like the Alter one for design, but Koto seems to have better color choice, but that may be because of the photo conditions...
I actually was talking about this with my local anime store dealer earlier. and he told me the tokobukiya version is also only available for JP. Koto version is big chubbier and larger melons. I like the Alter version better
Alter is far superior compared to Kotobukiya's but what if we compare Alter with Volks XP i'd get Alter's ver over Kotobukiya's
Yep, same here.. Alter looks better to me,.. especially the extra hair which is rounded in Alter's version. The one in Koto's look looks like a bent nail. Alter's has nicer face too, but the mass produced one might vary a bit for both i guess... I have not owned a figure with that pose before, but I've read that these can lean.. ='[
No dough about Alter is the better one the metal. Too bad than 2 companies made the same pose.
I prefer the Alter's version.. Looks way nicer than the other one.. And the metal pole that hold the legs kinda make the overall look ugly.. ^^ Haruka FTW!!
I choose Alter!
Alter version all the way! in terms of painting and shading they are always awesome, and koto figs usually lack shading and the painting is average. And I think the Alter ver. might include a metal rod also, it has been done before...
Left side for me!
I'd go for the Alter version. Koto version looks a bit "cheap" to me. A bit strange two companies produce the same figure.
I'm wondering. What's the point in releasing a figure of the same character in exactly the same pose without ensuring higher quality? Or perhaps it is cheaper? ^^
1000 yen cheaper.. somepeople like their girl chubbier...
Kotobukiya, for sure. Really don't like figures which need poles to hold 'em up. Although, I'm really interested how they plan to prevent 'leaning' in the Koto figure
Whoops, didn't read well. What I said obviously refers to the Alter version. My bad.
Only one answer possible for me : I'll buy the Alter version ! And for those who worry about a figure that could be bending, there's no problem with Alter : they've already done figure on one leg like this one and they usually put a metal bar inside the leg to prevent bending, like with Wind Walker (http://www.alter-web.jp/figure/07/05_2/index.html) that I already have...
First i can say is, that the alter version is looking better for me, so i will get this figure as a fan of alter products. But also i like figures from kotobukyia and i don't like to refuse this figure version 'cause as a fan of kotobukyia products. Now the problem is, which one should i buy ? Hard problem, but i have finally the solution: Buying both figures. (I think i have a black hole in my pocket ...)
Is strange that they make figures so similar, how is this possible, I ask me? Anyway, Alter`s one is sure better, at all wiews, for me all least
I like the Koto version, while It's true that the ALter one have better details on the hair, her eyes (real eyes) looks too sleepy for me and one legged figure without support? Sorry, I don't like my figure bend and I don't like putting them in boxes
I'm figure-blind; can't tell the difference. >_< Both look good to me.
Alter for the win!!! =D
Sweet. Nice figure. He has nice living colours. :)
I have the money... but I'm not sure which to get. They both look good. Alter's got like a pastel sort of look, it's very nice. Koto looks shinier though. Still I think I might get the Alter one...
this is nice. but... i don,t like the metal that support the leg...
Got the CG pack for this off Torrent. Might not be for everyone though. Its got /d/ oriented content. Pretty awesome if you can stomach it though.
Alter wins my vote but time is against it.
Ordered the koto version. =)
Preordered her not too long ago. I was waiting for this to come up on preorder. She looks good on both versions, but have to stick with Alter bc the face is very cute.
want the new one by koto with battle dmg ;P
i'll go for the alter version, i think company shot photo can be a tad misleading, so i don't think that metal bar will be included in the koto version (it might be included but you never know)
