Ikea Japan

Ikea Japan
Ikea furniture seems to be everywhere - our office is full of it.
Well in Japan they are on the trains too and not just poster ads.
Hector has more pics of a train fitted out with Ikea furniture - perfect for sleeping.

Oh my! Such a stylish train! =O But after a while, won't it get dirty and such? And it won't be so nice to sit on it o_o

I mean, yeah, I know train seats before were dirty but now we can see it with those seats >_>

GOD! In Singapore we have to be content with hard glass-fibre chairs! Well, looking at the mindset of the majority of our citizens, it's probably more cost-efficient...

In Singapore, we have modified bus.
My friend once showed me some photos he took of the modified interior.

I haven't been on one though. And its seems to be a pretty rare occurance.

I'm pretty sure this is just a one-off case. Maybe we can see more sleeping people on these trains as it will be way more comfortable lol.

IKEA is pretty cool good prices and whatnot. But they're furniture doesn't last long. I get a few years out of them, then have to buy some new stuff.

Yeah, one more reason for people to make faces equivalent of those of celebrities and top models when they are getting in the arms of Morpheus (the god, not the Matrix character)... And of course to have their unforgettable illustration of their relaxing moment being beautifully sorted as image collections in more or less popular otaku blogs. ^^
(and of course no need for prior written consent, as they would gladly imply acceptance, and this in every case)

Hmm... I think I've seen this in a TV ad before where a crew goes in to modify different public surroundings with Ikea furniture. They didn't do it here for real, but looks like Japan was a safe enough place to try.

The only way you will embarrass yourself is when you are obviously too wide for the seat. MTA train's straight benches makes people feel undisturbed by their size.

I myself, however, have a bad time sitting next to and insulted by people fatter than I am.

You know, Ikea furniture is more of an aesthetic thing rather than long lasting. I've seen (and bought) some of the furniture, and it isn't the greatest of quality. Ikea's really more of a store that's aimed at those looking to pay less for alright quality. Even so, I'm shocked that they'd put that on a train. I mean, if Ikea where to do the same here in the Toronto Subway for example, the furniture would be trashed in no time. But then again, I'm thinkin' that Japan is generally a much more self-respecting place, so vandalism wouldn't be that big of a problem.
