Found this image at Moe Imouto which reminded me of a previous poll we had. I asked something like "what would you do with your figures when you get married?" Options were:- 1.Throw them away 2.Keep them 3.Not getting married I forgot which article I asked that question so cant tell you the results. Just wondering how many of us here are seriously opting to marry a 2D girl instead?
Considering the kinds of RL girls nowadays, I might.
Agreed. If I did get married, I'd definitely keep all my figures and everything else. If she can't accept my interests, I'm better off being single.
ditto
right on bro!!!
and there is Tenga
if you're married you wouldn't need tenga <___<
but in some cases, marriage would make a Tenga more desirable >.<;
Sometimes, when you're married, you NEED tenga. :P
Agree
yep agreed ><
I will keep them even if I get married.
Hear hear. Now that's the kind of spirit we otakus need to have! But I'll have to lock up the room i keep my figures in once the kids arrive... Thank goodness my Pachira was still in her box when my cousins came over.
Otaku pride! That's the way to go, Risedawn! I simply couldn't deal with someone who couldn't appreciate (or at least respect) my...uh...hobbies( I think this basically narrows it down to me marrying Konata or equivalent...) Anyhow, you don't need to worry about all that stuff with 2D girls....better stick with them ^^.
2-d girls are the only way to go!
keep them i won't marry someone who don't care about my figure
No, I'm sorry, can't marry a 2D girl, more or less unconsciously still clinging to a sliver of hope concerning 3D girls. And the "So Ronery" and "Otaku Myth" posts confirmed it.
-Updated comment!- Just upon watching the first episode of Chobits, my mind changed completely. I'd marry a persocom in a heartbeat (even if it involves a non-ero practices policy, if you see what I mean). ^^;
I DO!!! and ill keep them figures too.
I'll if its possible, but it'll be really weird if I did. Like the baker who married his computer in Chobits.
Hum I think that question has an obvious answer. Keep your figures no matter what, if she/he doesn't like them well to bad, next time pick a person that respects your interests and hobbies.
agreed with u CrazyAnimeTuga of course keep them..one thing is you bought it, and second is what CrazyAnimeTuga said
keep my plastic models. anybody complains about em . i decide not to marry em, unless she looked really beutiful and 75% exactly looking like one of my favorite female manga character [which wont even happen]
For better or worse, my better half came along before any interest in figures, and she'd rather I not get too many in the first place. Even so, seems like she'll tolerate one or two here and there.
If the UK enforced prenuptial agreements, I would make it so I don't lose half my figures in case of divorce... (I might even make it grounds for divorce if my wife threw them away XDDD)
I'm opting to keep the figures even I get married but I'm also thinking that maybe I won't get married. It's not that I'm really crazy about 2D girl, it's just that having a freedom of single life might not be so bad. But no one knows how future will turn out so... Anyhow, I'll most likely keep the figure, and tell wife they are like memorables for me. Hopefully, she would be understanding -_- By the way, does anyone know where above image is from? Is it from an eroge, or if it's just a random image, is it drawn by anyone famous? Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance :)
LOL I'll keep them and say it's for research purposes... *Grins Evilly*
Sure I`ll keep them, and about get married, I prefer 3-D, at least on this matters...
I don't have any figures to speak of in the first place T_T But in the event that I do, I'd like someone that can respect my hobbies. Of course, I'd return in like ^o^
Same figure-less and same opinionated person here. ^^
Same here unless I go buy Kotobukiya's Kureha.. ^^
Is it even legally possible to marry a fictional entity like a 2D girl?
i will keep them.. but still i don't think i can get some real wife >_>;;
If I ever marry a girl, be sure she understands and maybe even likes my hobbies. Period.
I feel that many misunderstood the question here... It is not about marrying a 3D girl or convincing her for you to respect your choice (as it was asked before) but rather if one would marry a 2D girl than a 3D one.
Actually there's all those question involved in here ^^ marrying a 3D or 2D girls and weather or not we keep our figures.
But some have been avoiding the 2D part for some reason. ^^;
I still remember after watching my first anime, which is Ai Yori Aoshi by the way, I fell into social withdrawal and began to dream of meeting with my favorite girl in the series. I have since realized that yeah, I prefer to marry 2D girls over 3D ones, but then again.. >_< I will marry 3D girls for sure, if I have the finance, though, since I want my genes to be around for quite some more time. (Nah, this is not really the reason, actually I just want to have a family.. or something like that). ^^
I will be keeping them. For a marriage to work there must be some compromise here and there, and I expect her to compromise on this. It's not like the figure is going to be jealous of her or anything and stab her while she is sleeping ^^. Of course I will compromise on other things, as long as it doesn't mean giving up my collection. Or I can find someone like Konata and we'll happily collect them all!!
Keep them. I'll probably marry when I'm much older, but when I do so, I don't wanna become someone I'm not just for the sake of marrying. So, throwing out my figures is a no no.
For me, i'll keep some, and maybe pass the rest to my relative. Once theres a thread in a forum that goes "What would you do to your collection when you dies?". For me, definitely not burying it in grave with me LOL
Well seen as i've been married a while now and collect figures, my wife does'nt mind at all in fact she encourages me.
I will shed Manly Tears by if I were to throw my figure away!!! Never!!!....
The whole idea of getting maried is so you can chain your wife up so she can only get to the sink, cooker, bed, toilet or supermarket, you can't do this with drawings so there's no point.
I wouldn't want to be your wife if I ever were a girl. LOL.
In reality most of the time it's the other way around, at least where I live :D @topic: I wouldn't marry a 2 D girl. I probably wouldn't even marry a 3 D girl it's not like you can't live together without marriage.
I keep it. Married is a waste of our manlyhood and hopes as being a otakus. i prefer 2d-girls instead.
inherit them to my kids???
I'd keep mine. There should be an option to marry a 3-D girl and keep a 2-D one as a mistress : P
Hah! I'd probably be getting more figs as anniversary gifts. Which reminds me, not too many figs for the ladies out, are there?
And who is that breath of fresh air in the pic?
Wait! Keeping figs wasn't the question, was it...? Er... Marry real person.
There arn't many guy figures are there. And the few I've seen of my fave ones weren't that great. The Kyo-kun I've seen, not great. Havent seen a good 1/8th or 1/6th Syaoran. Would love one though... I've got a Balthier posable figure, more action figure really. But wonderfully pretty. Hehehe, Balthier is loverly.... Love the english voice actor. Would like to find out what the Japanese sounds like... shame you can't have the japanese voice over when playing it through first time.(Don't know if you can have J-voices after you completed anyway....)
Ah, yes. Quite the leading man, isn't he? Even I'm taken aback by his utterly callous manly sexiness, hahaha! My friend and I were planning to get matching Balthier and Fran figs, but that never came through. As for his Japanese voice actor, methinks his English version better suits him. Still cool nonetheless. Enjoy! http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ybdo0ukk5Mg I'll stop before I start geeking out...
If I may sum it up in three letters: Gar? ^^
Gar? Er.. Ba weep grana weep nini bong?
:watches/listens to vid: Nah the japanese voice sounds too old for the body. English voice is much better suited. And cuter. Not sure bout Fran though. I like her english voice, dunno if the japanese is better... I'm bummed theres no Fran figure, or Penelo. I found Vaan and Ashe for £7 each($14, 1400 yen) so I'm chuffed about that.
Yeah. What, they weren't popular enough? Even secondary characters like Yuffie and Vincent got figures too (but this is VII we're talking about here. Overhype much? Don't get me wrong; loved it, but it wasn't THAT good). It's not fair...
there's nothing wrong about being single.it's just that you have not met your match.if you are single remember this: time waits for no one.
girl who leapt through time <--- great movie thats where you got the line from...i hope? haha
hahaha thats right i got the line from the girl who leapt through time and add some of my thinking and voila you get an interesting line.=D
I'm going to keep all my goodies FOREVER. Nobody can persuade me to get rid of my collection. NOBODY EVER!!! Hmmm tis a good question.... marry a 2D girl...guy in my case though. I got another question, how many of you, if you had the chance, would choose to live in the 2D world of your favourite anime(obviously they wouldn't all coincide, GITS and Haruhi would not be in the same world for instance), and be with your favourite anime girls/boys?
Sad as it sounds, I might be tempted to marry a 2D girl. Because real life is ain't so hot nowadays...
No marrying the 2D girl for me. I might be tempted ^_^; but I just could not follow through. 2D = Nice to look at but 3D = Marrying material
if i get married i ell keep mi figures and continuing buying more figures >:]
I already married so cannot marry a 2D girl or guy for that matter :P But I think I am rather picky about what looks good anyways so LOL
chun, i think you are about the only member that can be excepted from this... btw does your hubby keep the figures he had before he had you???
haha he has a lot of gundams figures waiting to be assembled :P I don't mind, cos eventually he kinda understood when I erm got into dolls ^^;;;; now both of our hobbies are a bit neglected cos we're both busy with work x_x
lol... hang in there... i'm sure you 2 will get time eventually...
easy. i'll just marry an otaku (girl). i can imagine it now. the 2 of us building gundams together. we can even do cosplay. ya u know, doctor and nurse, teacher and student, boss and secretary etc. ('~')
I might sound like a traitor, but i really don't know if i will still have my 2-d hobbies once i get married. I mean, it's hard to say what i will do in like 10 years, think about it, 10 years ago we were all collecting pokemon cards like madmen(at least i was :3). And mary a 2-d girl? It wouldn't be very healthy to have a wife that cant talk back and cant be touched, no matter how perfect she is.
option (a) pretend to throw away to please the wife, but actually keep them in cold carbonite storage option (b) marry someone like Mrs. Choo I'm leaning towards option (b)
i would find a way to make a 2-D girl that can talk back and can be touched ^_^ .
I would definitely keep my figures. Hope the wife is an otaku. :)
given the choice i would marry a 2d girl if it was possible in a heart beat... still would keep my figures as they are priced possessions...
theres no way in hell i would throw away my figures and model kits. If my wife refuses to approve of them, then bye bye, the door is that way. hahaha
I would never throw away my figures,gundam models and enething else that have something to do with my hobby. I would tolerate her hobby then I would like that she will also respect my.
Well, I will be keeping my figures. This summer I will get married. I know my fiancee accepts my figures and Gundams because she knows I enjoy it and it helps me to relax. She does like Gundams! I don't think her view has anything to do with the fact she is Japanese. The real task is not finding a person who has the same hobby we all share. It's finding a person who accepts it because they love you. I now relinquish the soapbox... ^^;
Everytime I look at something like this, it reminds me of Rainbow Girl. :(
I would definitely keep them. Any girl that can't accept my interests isn't worth dating.
Well, I am married for almost 6 years and I have figures, most of them bought after the wedding. Not only did my wife accept my interests, she even shares them now. Some have been bought by her for special occasions like my birthday or christmas. I know I am lucky, but honestly, I really like the anime world and I can't live without it.
Oh and to answer you question Danny, I would store them somewhere, or if I had an office for myself I would keep them there.
I will deffinetely keep all my anime (eroge too) stuff for sure, no natter what. The girl I'll marry will be, at least, interested in my hobby for sure (if not into it herself).
I don't have any figures ^^ If i married a guy that did have them, I would WANT him to keep them! Even if he didn't want them anymore! xD
I don't have any figures nor desire to buy any, so that question's avoided. -- As for marrying a 2-D girl, I can't imagine holding a girl that's much thinner than Kate Moss. So, to cherish and love her the way I'd want to just couldn't happen. Reality tis such a cruel fateful monster.
