A screencap from the news.
The Japanese media take it a step further and blame it on the game - specifically Dragon Sword for the NDS.
A boy went around killing 9 people and when he was finally caught, they found the game Dragon Sword in his bag.
The program highlighted "A game where one used a sword to slash at enemies was found in the killers bag."
Dragon Sword in action below - the apparent motive for the killings.

"A game where one used a sword to slash at enemies was found in the killers bag."
Does this mean that guy regards everyone he slashed an enemy?! OMG! This kind of act is irresponsible and just stupid... And because of him, games are getting all the blame... That's just not fair!

I that case, we should blame videogames for the extinction of fire-breathing dragons! Too many dragon-slaying games caused people to run around the world slaying dragons at random without any apparent reason! Yes, vidya gaems maeks ppl kill dragons for teh lulz!

If you can't distinguish between a game and reality, you fail. And did the boy bought the game himself or did the parents, cause I can't really see how a game of this caliber is from 3 years and up.
I hate when these things happen, they always blame the game first.

Well the media-s are plain dumb. This is quite common thing nowdays, when someone go on a killing spree the media says - ooo he was watching hentai - this was the reason, ooo he was watching anime with killing inside - this must be the reason, ooo he was playing games with killing in them - this must be the reason. The reason is not in the games, anime or something else of this kind. The problem is in the person's brain, if you are a psycho you can snap even if you play Mario Bros or watching some Disney movie. The media is just searching for a hot news, its easy when you blame somebody else

Lol what a joke, they basically got the same cards the North American media uses. What if I cause an accident and have F1 2001 in my pocket they'll blame that instead of my poor driving skills (or the other person's) on some old game? Wonder what they would say if I had Puzzle Quest and beat people with a box. I bet they would be puzzled finding another reason to blame games.
Games and anime are just too easy to blame since nobody really stands up and theres more enemies then defenders. Blah

This is just stupid. The whole concept of videogames making people go around killing other people. If it were true, then when Pacman was made, I dont remember hearing news that people are running around the streets trying to swallow other people for points.
Seriously, it's stupid news like this that takes the attention away from the real issues. How about finding a way to end the war?
Or, eben better, if the whole videogames thing is true, why not just have military recruits play games like CoD4 all day long, it'll be so much cheaper than actual training. >_>0

Same old, lame old news...
Western media blamed the FPS game DOOM for the Columbine Massacre (the killers played DOOM a lot before slaying people).
Fox News blamed the RPG game Mass Effect for inciting/encouraging porn to young teens (The player character can fall in love/engage in a menage-a-trois with a human/alien female).
Its no different in East-Asia. Another thing is that eastern media can be as über-dumb as their western counterparts, when it comes to reporting that video/pc-games harms kids & leads/encourages crime.
Had a question about this in my las exam paper, and my answer is & will always the same: with no conclusive evidence that video/pc-games harm or corrupt children in any way, then the only problem lies with the parents & society in general. The kid is always a victim to the circumstances he/she lives in & goes through. There is not enough evidence to suggest otherwise.
Bottom point: no proof, no conclusion.
Im not surprised, but i pity the boy for going berserk. I guess he has a tough time ahead...

Bah, this type of news don`t deserves much atencion, they can see all they want if this made them happy, but the fact is people continue buy and play games, and this stuff are simply that, foolish stuff. I said.
Anyway, true is sad this things happens, and people still think that games are bad, and made serial killers...

Disappointing.
What about "blame it on japanese history".
I bet they would never do that, despite the japanese history having a far bloodier and more violent setting than some random game.
But hay, it's a trend. Games are to blame from mom spoiling the dinner to rain on weekends.
