There were a load of anime schools at the Tokyo Anime Fair promoting their courses and handing out brochures. For those who dont know, you can take courses to learn all about anime production which includes how all the cells are put together and created, the voice recording process etc etc. One of the most popular schools is the Yoyogi Anime Gakuin. Are there any of you who wish to make a career in the animation industry? Could only find this clip of some of the students at Yoyogi Anime Gakuin being interviewed.
Ok, that's it. I'm gonna hand in my resignation at the university and study this instead XD
Ditto! I'd ditch Computer Science for this anytime! (Might as well be on the first year)
i have a friend doing that. your japanese level has got to be pretty high!
i dont want to do this as a job, but im very curious!
Sounds interesting , atleast they're giving people chances to do something they like and love i'd like to attend one of these but most likely cant lol
Seems very great in theory, but surely very straining and not that dreamy when you're in... A bit like for videogaming creation-teaching schools
in ACG(Anime, Comic Game) I prefer Anime and Comic, so i dont want a job on it, instead i want to fully enjoy it as a good audience That is why I'm becoming a game designer, is not that i dont like play games but i prefer to make games
I"m more of a "spectator" when it comes to anime. I'm more interested in learning how to draw a proper manga.
lol, i have to agree with that sentiment...
Id LOVE to do that! Only problem is my rents want me to pursue a carreer in computers... -w-"
Wow. Maybe you should try finding another place to rent, then?
wow~ i've always wanted to learn on animes and mangas. Wonder if there are such courses in singapore.. O.O
Aww im so jealous, we don't hav those in UK, the closest thing we have is manga art but its seriously boring.
i've always been told how hard it is to work in the anime industry, especially around deadlines. one of my cousins works at an anime studio.
it is boring i second have to draw about 14 or more of the same pic with just some minor changes(good quality animes) will get really boring very fast
lol (yet another sayonara zetsubou sensei reference) so that's why entering the anime industry is one of the 7 mistakes in his life. ^^
that's basically the same in GameDev (i'm sure you know this) where the teams always have to make minor adjustment over and over again... especially feel sad for the Programmers during alpha all the way to beta Lol!
I can't imagine the all the hard work just to make one episode...
I'm more to receiving than giving, if I were to make an anime, it'll look like bull turd... The animation would be sucky and the graphics would be crap... So animation and me don't mix at all...
Lol...sorry for laughing but ...bull turd lol thats funny...I'm sure your drawing will improve with practice....
hmm thats what i'm going to do.. but more computer stuff.. can't draw worth a darn.. but my computer stuff is good.. you jst have to love drawing.. or in my case building things in the computer.. even anime is going 3d with toon shading.. gundam and ghost in the shell with the tachicomas is a good example.. new star wars clone wars cartoon is all 3d computer animation.. so there's still a place for drawing but computers are use for coloring etc.. and yes.. animation drawing is tedious.. but if you love it.. its all good
always wanna go to a school like this but never got the chance. there weren't many school that teach you how to make anime or manga in my country....and also every one of it are so faraway from my where I live....
Sounds interesting :) I never knew that anime schools exist ^^;
seems like they wont told the ugly side of working in an anime studio..or even being a seiyuu.. @ axronsam: Google 77star The rest: the inside of the anime industry (prod of it) is a little screwed up...it isnt what u think as a 9 to 5 job, relaxing, doing ur drawings etc...it hell isn't. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2005-08-10/state-of-animation-industry-in-japan http://www.jetro.go.jp/en/market/report/pdf/2005_35_r.pdf (pg 3)
an insider view: http://sunday-lab.blogspot.com/2007/12/japanese-animation-creators-live-in.html
Firstly, I can't draw for nuts. Secondly, I'll go nuts drawing the same picture with minor changes multiple times over. This job just isn't made for me sadly. I rather just enjoy watching it ^^.
I'm going to do an animation course at Uni. One thinks that "anime has been done to death" and the other "likes good anime" which is good, cos not many course leader people have looked upon anime fondly... But I'm gonna get it past them no matter what lol. It will be disguised if need be hehehe. Anime school!!! Oh I so wish.....
Well... I have this little crazy dream of contracting a manga illustrator(drawings and such) and make my own manga, me and the creator. Look at the guy who made Dragon Ball/DBZ, he's famous around the world! And the guy who made Naruto got rejected many times but look at him now...
I want to draw manga but...my drawing sucks..ToT
I'm def gonna make a career in this kinda work. I love drawing.
As much as I love anime, I'd like to stay as a fan. I went from loving games to being in the game industry and it changed my appreciation for them a little, so I'd like to keep my appreciation of animes the same :)
In the past, i used to draw like this, copying their style to improve my artwork... until i grew bored of drawing & focused on something else instead. I'd prefer to do manga or illustration as a hobby, instead. Too much competition in that field. Good luck for those who focus & dedicate their lives to create manga & anime. Things are tough, but your passion & drive to create what you love will pull you through.
Hmmm, inetersting ^^ They also started opening anime related courses here in Singapore ^^ I heard they are trying to create the "first" anime that's produced in Singapore ^^
I'd stand on top of all of them, by being the director. I think taking up film studies will do that.
An school that'll improve my drawing skills & teach me how to draw hot, naked anime girls?!! SIGN ME UP!!!
Really interesting! I wonder how much is the course.
hmm well I am studying in a course in my polytech doing 3D animation.I was able to go to the Yoyogi Animation School for a study trip in Japan recently... though from what they say, the old cell drawings are already outdated and their using more digital means to get the finished products for anime.
that's really interesting but i don't have talent in drawing and i can only draw stick figures ^^;;;;
Sugoii! My other passion in life is drawing and i definitely plan on making that my career. I was hoping to enter a media arts course at a good art school, but it seems these are far more interesting. Thanks for sharing that useful bit of information Danny!
I'd be willing to study at an anime school if I got the free ride. Creating my own manga is actually a goal of mines.
