Nihon Bashi

(Otaku(49)
Fri 2008/03/21 08:54
"Dont loose to Akiba!" is the title of the news item at Iza (where you can find more of these pics) which talks about a recent cosplay event at Nihon Bashi.
Nihon Bashi in Osaka is their equivalent of Akihabara where you can get a load of otaku goodies.
SenakaBlog is based in Osaka and he brings you much otaku news from that area - his mascot is illustrated by Noizi Ito!

I also took a while to find the place, since I was trying to reach it from Namba. Took about an hour before I caught a glimpse of it (I spotted the giant Melonbooks billboard from nearly a mile away) and reached. They need better directions to the place!

Nihon Bashi is pretty good but I think Akihabara is still better. I think that Ito Noizi drew the mascot since she also lives in Osaka area lol.

Don't sleep on Nihonbashi. It might not be Akiba, but it is low key and you can probably find some rare items you can't get in Tokyo. I spend a lot of time out there in the Softmap and the Plus shops scavenging for games.

Ahh, NiponBashi. I've been there. I went, I saw and was in awe. But I wasn't quite into anime and japanese culture as I am now so it was mostly about the electronics and video games for me.

Back then, some ppl thought it actually was better than Akiba. And there were chances that you could get some amazing deals on rare items simply becuase the seller didn't know it's true value. Not sure if that could happen now tho...
