Kinda cool and also kinda creepy. Anybody prefer this to a real dog as a pet?

I really like this robot. It seems so much smarter than all the others that I have seen. I would take this one over a real dog... It could carry all of my computer stuff around for me ^_^ and I do not have to clean up after it!

Supposedly they will never have a machine make the decision when to fire, it will always subordinate to a human (according to the American Government.. which is absolutely incapable of misinformation).

So I guess it'll take about 5 years till they change their opinion? I'm sure there will be machines killing people on their own, it's just a matter of time.

Can't help but see two sets of legs (almost human-like... disturbing) connected to a platform. Very noisy as well... I don't think bug spray would work on it.
It also seems very resistant to a "Sparta Kick!!". -Sparta Kick Replay!"-
I'd use holy water or fire on it, since it looks like an abomination of nature more than anything else. ^^;

Be careful. It's always using Supersonic, and holy water might short it's engine out into using Explosion.

Just one question. What kind of power supply are they using for it? Battery? Diesel engine(LOL)?

As a robot enthusiast, I practically shat bricks while watching it walk down the snowy hill and on the icy road. that is just insane robotics... I never thought it could actually survive slippery terrain when I saw an early version of it a year ago. Only problem is that the sound of its motor(s) makes me want to go into a primal rage, rip the things legs off, and proceed to beat it with its own limbs until the part count > its worth.

Interesting. Its ability to stay standing on difficult terrain, getting kicked, and on ice is very interesting. Would love to see the details on how they made this.
As far as the dog goes, I could only see it being used to transport objects, talking from a military standpoint (like ammo, your backpack, etc.) Dont know how much it could carry but it could prove useful.
What they need to do know is get rid of that annoying buzzing sound. Had to mute it after only 10 seconds.

needs a lot more work done to it, pathfinding and speed need to be improved. and the noise, the NOISE! kinda hard to for it to have any real military applications if the enemy can hear ya 10 miles away with all that racket. i am impressed by the way it corrected its stance after getting Sparta-kicked.

Yeah Metal Gear or more specifically MGS4, that's exactly what I thought it reminded me of, too.

It's really kinda creepy, at points it looked like two guys with really thin mechanical legs facing each other in a 4 legged race on rough terrain or something. The coolest bit was when it got kicked the first time and it compensated and rebalanced itself.

actually looks a lot like Alex's robot "Dog" from the HalfLife2 games to me especially the manner flow of its movements.... Dog is not so shaky though. Would be nice to have another way to power the device as that infernal noise is apparently coming from a small cc displacement single cylinder gasoline or other combustible engine that sounds a heck 'alot like of my RC model car and airplane engines... noisy little buggers. Maybe we can get portable fusactors in suitable enough energy generations levels soon to make that puppy a hybrid electric or all electric powered "green-machine" soon hehehe

I smell development projects for the ATST...

Seriously, when I saw it staying upright after getting such a kick I felt as though there was an extra ray of light in the heavens, shining somewhere. Made me feel like going up to the nearest critic of mecha, shoving the video in his face and telling him: In the next decade or so this guy's big brother will stomp your multi-billion-dollar tank battalion flat.

Hopefully by that time they'd have a better option for engines than now. BZZZZZ....

As creepy as it looks, this is AMAZING stuff. A robot that is self-correcting, and adapting that fast is unbelievable. For it to go through rough, uneven terrain, get kicked, slip, and remained upright with an almost animal-like movement is jaw-dropping. I'm no techno freak but I know that for that thing to be possible it requires some serious computing power and really complicated programming.

A bit creepy, but a very cool invention. Amazed on how the dog able to survive difficult terrains. The noise is sooo annoying though. Even the bugspray isn't working.

This is one step ahead to the world of robotics technology (or whatever). Just add a few machine gun and a grenade launcher or a rocket launcher, and it's ready to conquer the world.

But the only thing it needs is a greater AI and some sensory systems to observe anything around it.

BTW, is it remote controlled??

Hay Dios Mio! That's disturbing...it looks like a mutant fly with head and the sound me pone la piel de gallina.

It a cool invention but man, they have to work in the appearance.

This robot design is for military use, especially to carry weapons and equipments through rough terrain where wheeled vehicle cannot access. Should be called MULE.

Wow, very nice balance for a robo. We are getting closer and closer to the day when robots rule the world.
