Remember the Japan Public Sleeping article? Well Hector has more but includes before and after pics ^^
こんな映像はじめてみたけど、素晴らしい。 ダンサー素晴らしいね。感激!!
I'm not surprised, with comfy looking seats like those.... No wonder they fell asleep! The seats in Singapore MRT are so hard and very uncomfortable...
man those sure are nice seats wouldn't mind nodding off myself
jealous of the seats you have there... all we have is hard awkward angled plastic seats in our densha here ..if we have those nice looking seats it would be gone in a week - dismantled by vandals.
The Taibei MRT has decent enough seats, but also hard plastic. Those seats look cushy indeed.
those seats are like sofas found at homes... looks really comfy...
The funny thing is that Singapore buses has lately started to install all those comfy looking seats, why cant they install it on the MRT too.
They're going to cite costs as an excuse again. Man, they sure look soft...
kinda hard to believe those are seats you find in the public trains... looks soo soft AND COMFY...
lol, wonder where u would find the time to be able to do before and after pictures lol. i imagine u might have to sit there for a while just to see if someone starts to fall asleep...then again. it could be instantaneous!
Clearly worth the wait.
haha lol thats funny we never get that over here in this sh*t hole New Zealand. haha aw we sometime gets it on buses but that is funny hahaha
narcolepsy perhaps?
the guys should wear a sign: waxing in progress
I sometimes fall asleep in train too and I just hope I don't go far as snore in public... After pics are pretty funny, I guess no one can escape from public sleeping~
@ tiny red man lolol pretty very hard to sleep public in my country cuz once you fall asleep your stuff will be missing
so tired they are..lol~
LOL!!! As tired as I've been in the past that I'd actually want to sleep in public, I never do. I don't know, there's something about strangers seeing my sleeping face that kinda gives me the creepies.
...these seats are nice ..why not on our subway or the public bus...it not fair...
crap they dont have those in korea =.= THATS WHAT MAKES JAPAN AWSOME!!!!
If you think those benches are nice you should see the Romance Trains. They cost a bit more to use but have very nice seats and fewer stops. They also have concession areas so you can buy some snacks. Many have a nice lady that brings snacks to you. The seats can also be turned around so you can talk to people sitting behind you. Sleeping is rampant on these cars. Tons of salarymen use them to get home and those poor guys are usually dead tired by the time they reach the train. Sometimes the train looks like a Jonestown suicide has just taken place.
I was in Japan just a few days ago and I can assure you they are really comfy compared to the piece of hard crap we have in our MRT in Singapore lol.
Ah, I can understand how they can fall asleep when the seats looks so comfy. Here in Sweden we got somewhat inbetween, it's not hard but not like this.
Did anyone think Sleeping Beauty? As in everyone in the castle going simultaneously for a deep slumber by a charm. ^^; I just woke up... Please don't make me snooze again with this pic... ummmhmmm... Zzz...
Those train seats looks like it's really comfortable. My don't the trains here are like that. I wonder if they miss their stop when they are sleeping...
LOL... when me and my family went to Japan and first got on a train we were all like "how weird, lots of people sleeping carelessly on trains". Same day, at night, we were doing the exact same thing. The trains are silent, seats are comfy and heated, you don't have to worry too much about security... Not to mention long working and commuting hours. Kudos to the photographer though! Nice sequence.
I'd see how easy it would be to fall asleep in a silent, but moving, train, it'd be so very relaxing.
The train here in New Mexico has like comfy bucket seats that have tables. Yeah, comfy seats are nice and I don't think anyone is going to steal you stuff in NM because for about 20 minutes of non stop commuting. I need to ride the train tomorrow and hang out in Albuquerque. Yeah people do sleep here on the train too. A full hour of sleep, can't beat it.
I like to sleep in the train too.
Obviously people in Japan work too hard if they have to use their time in transit to take a nap. :P I'd be afraid of not waking up in time to get off at my stop.
I fall asleep most of time on the train. If I had those seats I would definitely sleep all the time.
The lady in black seems cautious. She protects her private part with her hands.. ^^
She seems very polite in that. "Zzz... May I take your order sir/madam? Zzz..."
Heck, I fall asleep on hard seats within 15 minutes... those nice seats... might take over me in less than a minute...
well i can even sleep standing up with some support of course... but even that would take me a few minutes... with seats like that, i'll prob be out like a light by the time i count to 10...(presuming i can finish counting to 10 before lights out 1st)
most prob be out by the the count of 5...
The person on the left in the left picture, the before and after looks like 'asleep, and more asleep'.
Yeah i have done that in public many times >.>
When I was in Japan last April, I saw a lot of people sleeping on the trains. It didn't matter what time of the day it was, either. Here is a pic I took on the Yamanote: http://www.flickr.com/photos/victor_lee/499186458/in/set-72157600315114191/ What was really interesting was that the woman woke up just before the train pulled into her station.
Heh, nice. In fact, I just woke up from my train nap right right before the doors opened at my stop. Then again, I was more like half asleep. I would wake up at every stop, take a glance, and wait until I feel the push from the braking. I've done this a few dozen times and never seem to oversleep.
LOL!!! Perfect shot! Mouth open and everything, awesome.
lol, I don't blame them :p That seats looks comfy XD
tsuman...:p
There are so many people that sleep on the trains in Japan, and I don't blame them! In my city in Canada the buses all have practically no padding on hard plastic seats that have dividers in them so it's basically impossible to be comfortable or sleep, whereas the trains there just seem to have big long undivided cushions. I wouldn't mind sleeping there either! ^^
lol, familiar sight, always made me laugh when on the trains seeing people asleep for an entire journey, then like magic, waking up right when its their stop.
Sure traveling is way boring, but if you don't have any gadgets or something to do, might as well sleep. No wonder, I get good dreams while traveling.
i remember seeing an old lady sleeping in the train hr sometime back... she had her mouth wide open with this really depressed look on her face... couldn't help but laugh *not out loud*... it was just so funny, even remembering it now makes me laugh...
OMFG! I LOL'd so hard at the dudes... they look like they passed their station three times in a row
