Giving the PS2 Haruhi game a go in the living room. Its pretty crap. It did come with the gorgeous Figma Figure though. I'm trying to think of a decent anime-to-game and cant think of not one. I get the feeling that the makers think that a game will sell anyway because of the popularity of the series so end up throwing any old shite together... Some of the game play below - you may fall asleep.
zzZzz.....~_~ *pop* huh? what? oh woops look like I did have that video playing. honestly I couldn't think of a anime/manga to game cross that was good. my mind drew a blank and I found myself drooling...lol
I wouldn't mind having the game for collector's reason (mostly because I don't know Japanese and the game would be useless without some knowledge). Hey Danny, if you don't like it I'll take it. My highest bid is $1.
non-ero text based games bores me to sleep, this game is no different.
At least in other games, you don't have any confusing menus and are treated with nice images from time to time... Here I saw nothing (maybe was it spoiler-free?). I wonder if there is a way to make Haruhi angry? Should be. ^^
your right, the game does look a bit lame. but at least you got the figma characters. theres a good point
Well, I don't know for you, but I liked the .Hack game, it does get repetitive after a while but over all it was rather good. ^^;
Wow. That was boooooring. It's even worse than going through the beginning of a long RPG (You know, when they explain the setting). It seems that days fly by in that game, and that nothing is worth the trouble (no big non-ero piece of CG?!) Okay, one thing was cool to look at (if you don't count the original artwork and voices)... Kyon with a Kenshin-style scar and a noble's 'stache. My verdict: Even for the die-hard Haruhi fans, this game should be a disappointment. I can't even imagine people buying this game and not having the Figma figure as a mere compensation.
Did you get to try the "Dragon Quest" part and the "SRW" tibbits. I saw the "SRW" sections on youtube, and I have to say they did really well on that ^^;
those were game to anime not anime to game! Yah got to agree most of those anime tat get game treatment are crap! With some exception of fighting game!
I mean not the "Original" SRW games ^^; What I'm trying to say is that in the Haruhi PS2 game there's a section part of it where you get to play "SRW" style game using Haruhi characters ^^ The story took place during Ryoko fight.
Yep, that's what I heard about the game, it's pretty boring. That's the whole niche about character/series based game, they think due to their popularity, it's guaranteed to sell and so they put minimum effort -_- Not all of them are like that but I would say 90% of them are.
Just thought of a decent anime-to-game - Gundam Musou on the PS3.
Well, there's Gundam Musou: Special for the PS2, only differences is the scaled down graphics and Musha Gundam Mk. II. ^,^
Armored Troopers VOTOMS. A good anime-to-game.. uh.. game. For PS2
Forgot to mention Gungrave and IGPX. Those were good games as well.
e...e...sugoi desu ne
Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner for the PS2 is one of the best games I've ever played... definitely worth checking out if you have never played it.
+1 I loved that game that I replayed it so many times. Also, the game contains Unidentified Floating Sensation. ^^
The Super Robot Taisen series of games? Also some Dragonball based fighters are decent. And the Evangelion fighter game for the N64. It seems to be mostly the text based adventure games that are kinda dumb, all that and no ero?
it doesn't matter whether the game is crap or not. even if the games comes with an empty box, fans will still buy it. that's devotion. ('~')
True, but the makers of the game could have put more heart and good ideas in it. Is taking fans for idiots of the last category the ultimate form of insult towards an otaku? I feel so.
I sort of wonder why would any company churn out a failure that's related to some major franchise instead of spending some time to polish it up instead so that even non-fans will buy it. Seems to me that all they want is to get it into the market as soon as possible?
Yeah, I also feel it was rushed, but why then? Second season of the anime is not even nearby and it is an original scenario. For games that have to be released at the same time as a movie (especially the Hollywood-related ones), I would understand why it is rushed (but surely not condone why it can be utter garbage in many instances). In comparison, this game... I still wonder about it. I just hope it's a bad hunch and that the in-game unlockables are worth the trouble. But as a gamer and anime fan, what I have seen in that video made my heart cringe in despair, especially when I think about gems like the MGS series, that are polished until they are sure to shine. -Game Over... Federation VS ZAFT II is good as well~ It's been almost 2 years and I'm still enjoying it... If anything, it brings GSD up a few notches...
True True True I'm actually replaying that game right now, it's fascinating how many moves I haven't realized that some suits had.
There are a number of decent anime based games. The Bleach DS games developed by Treasure are great. And I've heard that the Naruto Gamecube fighters are good (though I haven't tried them myself). Magic Knight Rayearth on the Sega Saturn is really excellent (probably the best anime game ever). The US version localized by Working Designs (R.I.P.) is fantastic.
I second bleach DS, but I never got really into it enough to learn the move sets in depth.
If I remember right, Record of Lodoss War (a true anime classic!) was quite a good RPG to Dreamcast. The Gungrave games to PS2 are pretty decent for brainless action too. The best anime-to-game are the ones that gives you more story. Anyone played the Slayers game to PSX? Would love to try them out since I am a big Slayers fan.
*falls asleep* *hears gorgeous Haruhi* *wakes up* *falls asleep again*
this is a game? i'd rather play sudoku on an ipod.
LMAO SUDOKU XD . . . how do you even play it man =-= i couldnt get the pattern
Macross for the ps2. Greatest anime based game of all time. And the game that all macross fans had always been hoping for.
That was complete and utter crap. The best thing was the audio, thats probably were they spent the most time on the game.
They released a decent Robotech game for the PS2.
Is that screenshot showing it running through a HDTV? It looks so crisp! My ps2 (and other SD feeds) look shite on my HDTV. Or is it a plasma screen? I kinda guessed it was gonna be crap. Haruhi is one of those animes that you just cant imagine as a game. Gundam or naruto perhaps, but not haruhi!
Though I'm not a fan of it, the Naruto game on XBox 360 I have heard is very much worth playing. Even the US version has downloadable Japanese voice overs for the dub-wary. That upcoming Dragonball Burst Limit also looks very good (though about 10 years too late for me as I got over that series :P). Yeah, the Gundam vs. games especially the Seed ones were very good as well.
SRW is my type of game to me.Mentioned to this game Haruhi in SD form and nice cg battle compared to union atk of EVA in SRW alpha 3 beat Ryoko shoot to pieces. I play Resident Evil or Castlevania because its full action.
isn't that just a normal visual novel game?
What do you actually do in the game lol?
the title Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu and the included Figma Haruhi is a perfect bait by Kadokawa for the fans and make more money lolz
well the game would be awesome if it were made into an interactive 3d game where you can interact with the characters and objects in the game and possibly walk in third/first person view instead of having a series of pictures sliding across the screen.man that would be a great adv game.
Good anime to game? The Gundam VS series was awesome.
It actually looked pretty good when I first saw it with Aya Hirano, she was playing it, but I guess Aya did the game look good. Anyhow, this may look like crap but it's a buy for the those who collects haruhi merch.
wtf is this, cid Meyer's meets dating sim? I don't get this game at all :/
Don't you mean Sid Meier?
same difference, all the same. Either way this game looks like a turd
As much as I enjoy Visual novel games, this one looks very boring... Their doesn't seem to be much to it, the conversations appear quick and pointless, the lack of CG (I doubt their is even any in the game) is disheartening and why do the days pass so quickly in it without anything of importance happening? ... Tales of woe, but hey at least it came with a nice figure. This "game" is certainly no Kanon. Thats for sure.
will it come out on an other console format or is it only PS2?
Wow.. A bit boring in some parts of the game.. Almost fell asleep.. Well, I will still buy the game just to get the figma.. Looks awesome..
....boring......but I kind os like their cg arts....
fast forward >>> yatah....fin watching it
Princess makers? XD
Good anime-to-game? Couple Gundam games come to my mind, SD Gundam G Generation Spirits, Another Century Episode #(not only with Gundams), or Alliance VS ZAFT 2+. And I heard that Berserk(but it's rather from manga-to-game rather than anime-to-game) game was good.
Gundam SEED ZAFT vs Rengou (PLUS II) was a pretty decent gundam vs gundam fighting game ~
The figure was probably the selling point of the game >_>
Gundam Musou:Special, was quite good ^^;
