"Neko Yoke" (pronounced "Nekoh Yorkeh") previously talked about in this article are bottles of water that the Japanese use to place around their homes to scare away cats. You can see how effective this method is from this photo - via Neta.
LOL! That's cute though.
Its cute until they grow up all ferral and fight each other and poop in your yard. Then its cat traps and humane society time.
Oh, innocence...~ Hmm... I guess you people don't really want to hear poetry from me today.
If they have gone feral and their numbers have grown excessively, then eating them might be a solution..
Deep fried cat kung-pao style?
Sounds yummy, good suggestion; I'll order one please... NOT!!
Maybe some chicken CATsu?
Sounds great. I'll have one please.
neko pan...
Would you believe, Cat Siopao? Haven't tried it yet though.
lol, don't say that, i love's me some siopao
Better not come down to where I live then. Char siu nyao-pao.
And i saw it today when i did watch "Darker Than Black", well sort of... you know the scene i supose. :p Personaly yes, i think it's somewhat cute too. ^o^
Ya when i saw that scene in Darker Than Black the first thing that came to my head was the article on scaring away cats. See... If Danny hadn't taught me the meaning of the water bottles then I wouldn't of know what they were talking about. Domoarigoto Danny! :-)
Someone lure the cat with catnip...
Awwwwwww...~ Gotta love those kitties. All three have different fur colors and the exact same expression and are so neatly arranged. They also must not realize that those bottles are their future enemies either.
no. behind those cute exteriors are cunning minds plotting ways to bring down the vicious water bottle empire. they're sleeper spies.
Saved by the way. I'll just look at this picture when I will be a bit down, so I will laugh alone and have higher spirits again. ^^;
LOL, isn't it supposed to scare kitties away? But sSeems like they love the bottles so much. XD
Painting/sticking a monster's face on the bottle = Better results?
No- this works better. http://www.dannychoo.com/detail/mac/eng/image/1408/Doll+Owner.html
My dad tried this a few years back, and the local cats loved 'em. Didn't deter them one little bit...
Next time implant a time bomb with a mation sensor in the water bottle and see what happen...
...
Kill kill kill kill kill kill kill kill kill kill kill kill !!!!!!!!!!!!
Guess that one previous post had a negative impact on you.
No...I was mad at the Minami ke Okawari because....the darn animation is just too sloppy just to view...too disappointed...;_; last season was good but this is a shame...
I don't see any logical link to that, but well.
LOL... Cats are now immuine to water bottles... But they're so cute!
Look at the kitties. Awww, cute little kitties....Ahem, I mean darn annoying cats. Always scampering about and meowing. If y'all will excuse I have to go do something manly like pick a fight or something.
LOL. Ahem, enjoy, I guess.
My Grandmother does this because the area she lives in has a lot of stray cats roaming around the back gardens... so theres lots of big watter bottles in the shrubs & bushes, it doesn't really seem to work, maybe its an old wives tale?
Time to invest in an automated sprinkler to scare the critter? I'm joking given the price of that device.
is there really a need for so many Neko Yoke in a single place like in the picture? won't one do the trick? ('~')
I'm not sure how effective water INSIDE a closed bottle is against cats. I know one thing, those kittens really look scared.
The cats don't seem to mind. Maybe whoever arranged the bottles so nicely should try a bit of randomization in the pattern.
Thats just a myth, unless you physically hose them down or use a water bomb.
I've heard that cats are repelled by citrus scent, and so spraying a little citrus water on something tends to keep them away. I think we've done that successfully in the past with our cats, but I wonder why people would think this water bottle trick is efficacious. Then again, I've also heard hanging CDs near a doorway will keep flies away; no idea why. We've had a couple discs tied near the back door for months now, and indeed there have been fewer flies, but who knows if it's because of the discs?
heard about the citrus scent thing and i believe it works too. on the other hand, cds? maybe flies don't like digital music that much?
So whenever I decide I want a cat, I should leave water bottles outside my house.
WAI~!!! HANYAAN~!!! NEKO!!! *heart heart heart* is it caturday already? XDDD
lol cute!! ^^ Maybe it feels cooler near the bootles :p
Actually, back in my ghetto hometown, my mum let 2 stray cats sleeping in front of house. It's pretty effective to cut the numbers of sewer rat running rampant in my house.
LOL. I think I already said it on previous articles, but here in Brazil, people (usually poor uneducated people) puts bottles filled with water on top of energy clocks (the stuff that measures how much power a house is consuming... to calculate the bill), believing this only will help the clock go slower (thus saving on the bill). Of couse it doesn't work, and I don't have a clue on how the whole thing started. Probably much like most urban legends: as a joke.
Come here cute little kitty cat so I can feed you some nice little fish...for exchange for your life!!!
So would the person putting up the water be a 猫ぼけ? ^^; For thinking that a bottle of water (or reflection) will scare cats away?
So cute!!! お持ち帰りたいです!!
well hope they dont get taken here http://video.news.sky.com/skynews/video/?&videoSourceID=1266788
now thats just messed up...
not entirely disturbing. ever watched national geographic or the discovery channel?
AWWWW. They're always cute when they're little.
The cats are cute. The bottles doesn't seems to scare the neko away but I think it is used to trap the neko instead. I think I should try it out to see if it really works here^^ But I think before it can trap the cats, the bottle will be thrown away by the cleaners...lol
i can see some sort of LOLcats marco happening here "I wub to hidez wif dez bottlez" i'm sure you can all do better than me....^^"
i was thinking exactly the same thing but more on the lines of "i'm in your _____ ____ing your ____" type of meme
omg KAWAII! screw the bottles! those cats are cute!
OMG THATS ADORABLE!!! :WANT: Wouldn't the bottles of water be more affective if they left the tops off? So if the cats knocked into them they spill over them. Hence, scaring them away lol. Kittens are probably too light to make them wobble anyway. KAWAII!!
Yah, what's that supposed to do? As seen in the pic the cats aren't paranoid about the sight of water. WTF? Lazer activated supersoakers would work much better.
awwwwwwwwwwwwww soooo cuuuuuute! want to take them home! LOL
how cute! The first time I've heard of this was in Darker than Black XD I was also wondering about the effectiveness of this method ^_^
what?? is that so?? when i used to live in Uruguay people used to do that but i never knew why until now. i dont really know how it works though
AWwww.. that's so cute :3
My teacher once tried that in the school garden. Apparently, the sun glinting off them scares the cats away. It failed. xD
[Announcer voice]Welcome ladies, and gentlemen to the Cat-ucky Derby! The weather is beautiful, and the cats are lined up in starting gates, ready to race for the giant bag of catnip.[/Announcer voice] *chuckles* That just popped into my head while looking at those adorable kittens in that picture. ;)
