From the 18th of March you will be able to use Skype on your PSP after buying the microphone that will be out on the 19th which will retail for 2,500 yen. I don't have a PSP but I can see how this would come in handy around the house - chat to friends while having a poo etc. How many of you use Skype? I'm mainly on msn for instant messaging and only use Skype when chatting to my developers overseas. Image and news via Famitsu.
Chatting while doing your business in the toilet, not bad... But the thing is, how do you clean up after that? Your PSP could end up smelling like roses, dead, smelly, decomposed roses...
Oh, (colon) bacteria, please work hard, digestion without you can't be. Sliding down the Porcelain Throne, swept by the current, this is your destiny. The smell, the smell, can't you see? The bacteria say they're happy~
*stifled laughter followed by uncontrolled choking*
Its just a microphone!? just buy a DS! it already has one! XD
it just look's like a USB mic, probably just find a mic with that small usb connector and it would work
Oh, talking to someone while taking a poo. Someone did that o me yesterday on Xbox Live. :(
Was it the echoing voice, the grunting, or the splashes that gave it away?
I would find that very disturbing...
hope they make something like this for the ps3
we already do. bluetooth headsets
My DS have microphone and i use it connected in a internet PC. i don't need that item instead i use my psp w/o microphone..
Am mostly on MSN messenger too. Don't even have Skype installed. xD
same here ^^ and it would be troublesome writing on forums and stuff while talking to someone on skype..i would end up saying what im writing xD
Hum hum, me too. MSN can also do voice call anyway, so I don't bother trying Skype. Or are they different? Like, perhaps lower delay using Skype than MSN?
I think this would be really cool since you're supposed to be able to take the PSP to any internet hot spot and use skype that way. (somewhat free) cell phone. I wish you could use a head phone with it though.
the DS has a VoIP homebrew called HelloDS (http://www.ndsemu.com/hellods.htm) giving you the ability to call through the Nintendo WiFi using VoIP ^^ i don't have Skype installed nor have an account. i do most of my chats through Yahoo! Messenger and Gtalk ^^;;; i have a MSN messenger, AIM and ICQ accounts but i seldom use them ^^;;;;
ive allready had access to skype on my PSP i mean it came wit FW3.80 or FW3.90 and aparently u wont need that exact adapter u can use the camera for the MIC i saw someone do that on YT. but id never us it whilst taking a S***. =0*
I use Skype since it's out. Used MSN only with one person so far, a friend in China. Personaly i dislike the MSN client... to much stuff i don't need comes with it (these games etc. pp.). Skype is as simple as it could be, voice and instant messaging without any toys around it, good quality too. Though i prefer it on my PC, i won't need a PSP for it, not even in the house since there are nice Bluetooth thingies around which are cheaper all together then a PSP + that microphone. In case of mobile gaming i stick to my NDS. :)
I do use skype and msn and i do own a psp I do seriously consider to have a psp with skype but the problem is psp's skype does not support previous version psp, only slim psp And i dont want to get a new psp just to have the skype(Although it did almost persuade me to do so)
I really don't care much about Skype on the PSP. For domestic calls, I have my cell phone. On the other hand, if I were making international calls more frequently, I would definitely see the utility. I'd rather have a VOIP application on a wifi-enabled mobile phone, though. T-Mobile here in the US offers that in a limited fashion, and there are hacks out there for a few other phones... I prefer Gizmo to Skype, though, since it's open... http://www.gizmoproject.com/ I also find MSN to be really crummy, service-wise and terrible in terms of being a closed protocol. I have it, but Jabber is my overall preference, and AIM is my preferred closed network.
Now if only we could see a port of Giizmo to the PSP!
Shame that Skype will only be available to owners of the newer PSP lite. Us early adopters with the heavier PSP "fat" design won't be able to use skype. but then, I use my PSP for games and movies.
Does this thing only work with PSP2000 series?
Yup, skype will only work on the PSP2000 or the "slim" version. Reason being that it takes advantage of the increased specs of the machine (double the internal RAM) to function so the old models won't be getting skype.
aparently the PSP1000 series (phat) will be getting skype with FW 4.0 from what i heard they have been trying to reduce the memory usage within the program. i guess itts just a case of wait and see...
skype doesnt really interest me ^^; so im gonna pass on this one
I'm an MSN msgnr user since 2005. Didn't use it much at all before then. I havent used Skype, nor think I will have too, but it's a cool idea indeed.
Used Skype awhile ago, decent program but I prefer Ventrilo. A lot less flashy, can be confusing at first but better sound quality and a smaller program; overall better for gaming with buddies. Although I did have fun ringing other people's computer using Skype to scare them ;p
I guess most here know I use Skype. My fiancee and I talk several times a week using Skype. I also us it to keep in touch with other friends in Japan. Computer to computer calls are free. Sound quality is the same as a mobile phone. I also like the video quality as well. I have a Skype Pro account. For about $30USD a year I can call any number in the U.S. or Canada for free and I also have a Skypein number. It's a Tokyo number, so any friends in Tokyo can call me as a local call. It also makes calls from other places in Japan a little cheaper.
Hmm..chat to friends while having a poo...never thought of that, great idea!
never use skype. don't have the money, and i don't know if the connection i indonesia is good enough to use this. only use yahoo messenger because you can chat with MSN user
i use skype and yahoo. msn, aim, googletalk and icq not so much. won't get this as i prefer talking/chatting on my laptop. don't do much calling internationally anyway.
Interesting... But I only came here to comment how I though this post was about a train model, when I first saw the pic.
This is already out on Europe, the only problem is that its only work on the slim & litle. There were already homebreus that do this, sony only copied it, same goes to messenger, its already on the psp to, haven't tried it yet.
Ultra-frequent user of MSN... Tended to use IRC a lot too in the past. The rest of the chatting programs? No, I don't use others.
Did you do IRC download, too? ^^
Yes, anime songs and emulated console games (that I deleted after a certain period of time). ^^;
yay another quite useless add on for my psp. although there will be some people who will use this,....who in their right mind would use it?^^ ok i use skype like once in 3 months or so, have a skype client on my cellphone actually. i think sony should put out a tool that features a camera/bluetooth dongle/microphone at once, but that's just a customer perspective. <sarcasm>as an evil corporation i would of course try to squeeze as much money out of my customers as possible *evil laughter*</sarcasm>
Yea. Im actually an AIM user. I use Skype for business overseas as well
wow, PSP is gettig powerful and powerful. I use MSN more ..
