So now we know the reason why MGS4 is taking years to come out - because the producers have been spending all thier time making a load of features that wont be able to fit on a single 50GB Blu Ray disc - more on this news at Joystiq. One of my main reasons to buy a PS3 is MGS4 but still going to wait a year or two.
I actually just read about this a few hours ago. I really hope it lives up to the hype, and the story doesn't get all weird. It looks fantastic. Sony is banking on this game to sell even more units and is rumored to release a MSG4 bundle to ensure world domination. Muhahahahaha, evil.

ok 1 thing. i aint a xbox360 fan alright =_= i was forced to buy it since ace combat 6 and halo 3 is going to come out in 360 but not on the ps3. + its cheaper and less heavier than the ps3.
LoL, like it's lightness matters for anything! The matter of the fact here is, as Kojima-san stated, the max capacity of the Blu-Ray discs is being used already for MGS4 (50Gb) (and that's if they don't go crazy and just go for a double BD-rom game!) So... Unless someone decides to release the game on the 360 in like 10 DVD's, it's not going to happen. ~PERIOD~

The 360 can use up to a 8.5GB dual layer DVD. If MGS4 can't even fit on a freaking 50GB dual layer BlueRay, just forget the idea that it'll ever come out on 360.
You say, but Hideo always plays with his fans. He always promised that the old MGS games would remain exclusive, but we've always seen ports over and over again. BUt ya, when PS3 gets a lot more good games, I'll consider buying it then. Because right now, 3-4 games isn't worth buying a console over ;)

And they hardly were true remixes (compare that to the remake of Tales of Phantasia)... Was especially much disappointed in the scarcity of omake and in-game cutscenes/videos.

Why of course they can't fit it on a disc... The whole darn game runs at 1080p!!! Which is really nice, but eats up tons of space all on its own.
next time games wont be sold in disc. they will be sold in harddisks.
I guess it'll be coming with TWO disks... or they could be evil and decide to split the game into two different selling items(Like the Golden Sun series, but that was forced)? The graphics are absolute headshots though; I can see now why 1 disk wouldn't be enough.

Gotta love games that are PS3 exclusive. I got both 360 and PS3 and got like 20 games to 360 but only 10 to PS3, because damn MS is snatching all the licenses or gets games programmed for their consoles first so that PS3 get lousy speedconverts. PS3 is just a so much better and more nice console and I'd choose it over 360 any day. That is why of course with games like DMC4, I buy the PS3 version. Luckily I imported a Dual Shock 3. And btw, regarding MGS4 and too big I got some bad news... "Earlier last week the game's assistant producer Ryan Payton confessed that the American and European versions would not carry the Japanese voice track due to storage limitations" =(
Finally... Someone that truly understands the 360 to PS3 thing going on! Ureshii!! Noticed a while back not a lot of people realize that the only 360 games that are better than the ones on the PS3 are the ones that are programmed for the 360 and then converted to PS3... This one fact is a 360-fanboy-squirming-in-forums killer. Have put the STFU on them with this a lot of times.
I currently have a 360 but I've been waiting to buy a PS3 for MSG4. I read somewhere that the voice tracks will be local too because other languages will not fit on the disk. T hat DMC video you posted with the savior really made me want to get it. Gonna pick that up today.

Having been involved in game programming and development myself I can tell you that there is only two reasons a game would max out a Blu-Ray on PS3's level of hardware capabilities; 1.) Favoring outdated standards over modern, more compact and higher quality standards--X Models rather than Collada, Multi-channel Wav/MP3 audio rather than Monaural Ogg for in-game voices and sounds and DTS for cut scenes and music or using a proprietary in-house game engine rather than a specially constructed and optimized game engine such as the Unreal Engine. 2.) Over-creating and trying to step beyond the current bounds of console capabilities. It's a nice idea, but usually trying to do something that wasn't an intended functionality of the machine doesn't turn out well unless that functionality is actually added to the system itself via a software update rather than trying to handle it in emulation. Crysis is a good example of this sort of thing. it tries to do all sorts of process intensive things like model cutting when you shoot trees and cloud generation when you shoot an oil barrel in water. They are cooling looking, but even the current best hardware configuration chugs along through that game...that doesn't make it sell especially well to the masses and by the time hardware catches up enough to run it properly on a mid-range gaming PC it will be long forgotten. I'm betting MGS4 is going to have horrendously long load times and possibly frame-rate issues, which is unfortunate, because I've been looking forward to it for a while. Hopefully they'll manage to keep the performance within acceptable bounds.
MGS 4 look nice but since I haven't played to the previous game, I probably won't be able to understand the story. Is DMC 4 any different or if I didn't play the previous one, it not worth getting? ^^;

MGS4 will be the closure to the MGS series so it is understandable that Kojima wants to go out with a bang ^^ i wish they'll still include the japanese voices and other stuff and just place the game into 2 bluray discs ^^
Snake Plissken called...he wants his nickname back. I never liked this series and i don't think i ever will. though i am glad this game franchise is ending, that way Kojima can set his crazy mind on something else.
I like Kojima san and his work, but any developer that says something is too big for anything, imo, is either craqzy or have a very inefficient pipeline
He should have make it into 2 BD! And then it would be the onli game in the world that claims BD is still too small! Anyway i hope Kojima finish this project and will start developing some ZoE3!

50GB not enough?!? that is crazy...i bet this game has a lot of cutscenes that it'll be like a movie. Why not use two bd discs instead? I hope this game doesn't disappoint (no frame rate issues, little to none loading times and etc) and hope that the US version would include the japanese voices.
I hope Hideo-sensei gonna put MGS4 into 2 BD! Making it the first game ever to put BD to shame! I'm gonna get PS3 only when MGS4 is out.. The same went for PS2 back then.. Got it when MGS2 was out.. LOL~
