One of my most favorite Japanese dishes - Agedashi Tofu - deep fried tofu in Batter. Deja Vu Time again - have I spoken about this before? How to make Agedashi Tofu below. How good is your Japanese listening ability? Can you make the out the chef saying "Agedashi Tofu" ?Hmmm. I should be going to get some dinner now.
mmmmm looks good. I always liked tofu. :) I even named my hamster Tofu.
got a facebook pet species tofu with name tofu-chan
Haven't tried this myself, though many of my friends swear by it. I do remember a perhaps similar dish from my favorite Thai restaurant back home: fried tofu served in a really tasty sauce with coriander. Mm...
wow that does look good! now i'm hungry too!
The portion looks a little small, no? O.o Anyways.. not a tofu person. I'll pass~
I'd put some rice in it too. (Love putting rice in soups, stews, etc. -including miso-, adds consistency and flavor) I know, it's madness and blasphemy. ^^;
10-4 Danny-o, You quickly commented you liked fried tofu (as do I) in one of your week in Tokyo articles. So you aren't goin crazy, you just getting old. *zing!*
I skipped lunch and you just had to post more food!! My mouth is watering!! I love tofu dishes, and definitely love agedashi tofu ^^.
Looks tasty. Want to eat.
Hmmm i never ate Tofu, though people telling me that it has absolutly no taste. So i supose this Tofu here gets the taste from the soup and the spring onions. Looks actualy healthy, though fried = now lot's of fat tofu? ^o^ Yep heard the "Agendashi Dofu" lol... least did sound like "Dofu" to me. Also, i like the dish in your big picture more then in the finished video version, just looks more tasty. Gomen ne Mister Chef-sensei. ^^*
Tami, you should try eating tofu and found out about the taste by yourself. Tofu can be cook in many ways, like stewed, BBQ'ed, fried, so you can choose how healthy your tofu should be. There's also soy bean milk, a milk version of tofu, which is very healthy and delicious.
eat tofu or tahu in indo alot here usually my family just fried it, some ppl steam it, or add it to soup, use it as salad(gado-gado, u guys should try this if u came to indo) or fried tahu meatball
I like this dish as well, now I want to go and eat this, yum :P
I must try tofu as soon as possible. Everyone says that it's delicious, so I want to check myself. I heard the chef saying it, I think he said it quite clearly :)
Tofu is getting more expensive due to the increase in soybean prices... hahahaha
i love tofu in ginger sauce but i never tried dipfriend, thanks for the info ima try that when i go to japan.
One of my Japanese friend made this once before long time ago. It was good. I didn't recognize it until I watched that video.
I Whant the recipie in English Pleasee!!!!!!!! If u have the video with subtitles, even better!!
are you sure thats not a half-eaten plate? I thought they come in 4-cubes pieces and topped with bonito flakes? well atleast thats how its served here.
It was part of a course so the portions were small ^^;
D@mn, I should only visit dannychoo.com during the day when the food center is still open.
Love fried tofu too.... but I don't think it's the same thing I ate once. Fried tofu with pork meat and some negi... just delicious!
Anyone here tried tofu cooked "Mabo" style? Goes great with noodles too.
Mmmmm thanks danny for the food inspiration! Gotta put tofu on the grocery list next time (hoohoohooo!)
Mmmmm.... Agedashi tofu. Delicious.
Looks yummy...
No tofu for me. Tofu is an evil food that can cause all kind of damage that most men wouldn't like. Started doing some body building and it would totally annihilate my goal lol. Well, it might be a little good for women. More info at this link :P http://www.t-nation.com/findArticle.do?article=body_143soy
Looks good indeed. I gotta get me some of those.
It's one of my favourites as well. Not a very common dish unless you go to a proper Japanese restaurant here (Melb, Aust.) I've found. Last time I had it was an all-you-can-eat Japanese teppanyaki place and even then, they'd take plenty of time to bring this out. Do you like or have you ever had "stinky tofu", Danny?
Tofu lover here, as long as it was delicious :).
