20090110 Giveaway - The Winner

(Gadgets(92)
Wed 2009/01/14 23:24
Congratulations to Jano who guessed correctly that the item inside the box was a router.

The clue was...
If regular reader of all DC you is being, The answer you shall be seeing,
"of all DC" = not just articles and news items but Puchi Blurbs too and if you have been reading my puchi blurbs, you would know that I talked about having a second optic fiber internet connection installed = need a new router.
See the photo in a different light, The answer may be right in sight.
"See the photo in a different light" = turn up the exposure in photoshop or similar graphics package. If you took the original photo and turned up the exposure, you would have just about seen some letters resembling the Buffalo logo as you can see for this product. The final hint I gave was yesterday when I posted the Mac Mini server farm photo. Thanks to comrades at Kodansha International and all those who participated and to those who got to the second round. We've done a few giveaways so far and will always do more - what do you want next - check poll. And a recap of what Jano gets below. As he was the only one that answered correctly, he gets both.
More up n coming comrades n sponsors want to continue to give you goodies. Next up is the good folks at Kodansha International who want to give away a copy of Arcade Mania and Yokai Attack. Arcade Mania contains everything you need to know about Japanese arcade games. Is written by comrade Brian Ashcraft who is well known for his articles on Kotaku, Wired and a load of other publications. Comrade Jean Snow also helped out with this book. Yokai Attack is a book that contains everything you need to know about Japanese Monsters. Those studying Japanese who have come across monsters like the Kappa can find more about it and its fellow fiends in this book. Had always wondered about that fiery wheel with a head on it that was in Gegege no Kitaro - is covered in the book. The book is written by another comrade Matt Alt. Seeing people around me has got me thinking whether I should write a book too but not sure what it would be about. Some folks suggested motivational and some have suggested Japan guides.

One month's registration and 50 comments, generally. Sometimes Danny adds extra requirements, such as recent, active participation. There has been a giveaway for veterans, and that one had much higher qualifications (1 year/1000 comments). He usually says exactly what's needed in the giveaway post.

Blimey! a Dollfie as a prize? And it's got the most votes too. Your force powers of suggestion are powerful indeed, Sir Danny (with a little visual help of course).

Congratulations to the winner! Doubly happy you must be for getting both prizes.

lol whut? don't think Danny is ready to part with his precious dollfie yet. :) but I guess you are right, the contrasting colors makes saber dollfie stand out more in the thumbnail than the router.

btw Danny, why is you not getting a wireless N instead? ^^ cute router by the way. ^^

I doubt he'd give one of his preciouses away, he'd probably wait until a company sent him a sample to make his readers drool.  That seems to be how he rolls.  Plus, I imagine the difficulty of that contest would make some of our heads asplode--and you know he'd enjoy making his riddle more elaborate. ^^;

In studying the picture a bit, I noticed you are using Parallels. I used it once with little satisfaction. Recently, VirtualBox has really started to show up the competition and it is completely FREE and there is also an open source version. Recommend trying that out on your Mac.

I plan on running Windows 7 in VirtualBox on the XP machine here, as soon as I get a blank DVD. (Yes, I know I could just unpack the .iso into a folder, but I want the physical media to tote around.) How does VirtualBox run?

During the New Year's holiday I started using VirtualBox on my MBP with Windows XP. It a lot better than Parallels in my opinion. I did use an early version of Parallels... Fusion is still my favorite, but I think I will continue to use VirtualBox on MBP.

Congratzs jano.
Would like a dolfie but thats on the bit of expensive side, so I think if one is up maybe veterans should only be allowed to participate.
As for the newer ones to DC like me n others i think gunpla,figures, or dakimakura would be fine.

Congratz Jano! This one was hard. xD I, unfortunately, don't have the time to read puchi blurbs, so I wouldn't have even come close to guessing.

Congrats, Jano!  ^_^

As for the next giveaway, I'd prefer Gunpla, but I'm seeing I'm in the minority on this... ^^;
