Hole O Gundam mod spotted in one of this months hobby mags at my local book store. Wanted to do mods to my Gundams but never got round to it - didn't have the know-how either. How many of you mod your Gundams or do you prefer to keep the original product design?
I could "penetrate" it anywhere I want! XP
You would balabababa a gundam?
. . . Maybe O_o . . .
...Can't be good for the paint. ...I'm going to...step away now. ^^; The concept is very disturbing.
i posted a more detailed pic of this Gundam plus another one of the work in progress at my blog. I'm not hijacking! Just supplementing! :) http://plamoaddiction.blogspot.com/2009/01/re-danny-choo-mods-post.html
reminds me of a Setsuna comic strip: http://www.marvinryan.com/blog/2008/01/09/gundam-00-setsuna-humour/
LOL so I'm like Setsuna in real life? LOL XD
That's not right..
LOL
-_-......... Would you like some WD-40 for that?
LOL. Oh, the miracle worker that is WD-40. xP
Wouldnt put it past him...
*Hides my Gundam collection*
CLANG CLANG CLANG
thats wrong on an extreme lvl
dang~
wow thats alot of holes ^^;
Deffinatly an interesting concept. Wouldnt mind finding out how and doing it myself. Good upload Danny!
That is a ton of holes. I'd still prefer the original Gundam though.
If I'm not wrong, it's in the lastest issue of Hobby Japan. Speaking of modding, sometimes you need to mod your gunpla to make it easier to air brush it. But the gundam featured is really some hardcore modding...
Only very minor ones. I modded my 1/100 OverFlag's head to give it better articulation.
wow... what a crazy Gundam mod. I never mod my Gundams. Original look is the best for me. Although I don't deny if someone give me a super cool mod Gundam. XD
Hah... thought I saw a lego Gundam at first. Would like to do a mod, but don't really dare damage my Gundams...
it looks a little creepy. I have been planning to mod a gunpla model kit and I'm going to enter it in for U.S. BAKUC 09
Wow, that's one crazy mod indeed. But I don't think Gundam would get that much damage with Amuro Ray piloting it ^^;
Not if his father is doing its upgrades.
It looks muzukashii.
Never built a Gundam kit (yet), but that mod does look very nice!
i'm gonna kickstart on gunplas once my semester break kicks in. but i don't think i'd mod my gunplas~
I know that putting holes in metal keeps weight down without losing strength... but this is a bit too much
It looks like an 80's concept of what an actual robot would be like (a skeleton and no skin). I'm a heavy modeller. Check out my blog if you haven't already.
The last Gundam I made was a modded Gundam sorta... a mix of pieces to make it into a Saber Gundam ^^;
I tend to keep the gundam to as close to the anime interpretation as possible, but I don't mind a kitbash or mods to improve an element of the model, like making unicorn more posable when it's open up, or possibly trying to make it more like the evolve designs. but the above? nah...
I guess that makes the Gundams more... aerodynamic? :P
I'd do a custom paint job maybe but actually butchering my precious "Gundam wing zero" with holes is a no no for me ^^; Maybe add parts of other gundams into another too, having 8 arms and 6 wings isn't strange looking right?!
holey metallic gundam batman! lol sorry I couldn't resist. ^^ anyway the only mods I could ever do is to custom paint my gundams, otherwise I'm rather inept
the modeller really know the true potential of VER 2 :D it's he skeleton that was great not the armor lol
Reminds me of a playground lol
wow. kinda wish i had the skills to do this, showing off the internal framework of a gundam this way is better than building those crystal/transparent kits
Reminds me of a cheese grater when I first saw it...
Lol, it's probably fashioned after one :X
Modding depends. If there's something that irks you about how it looks, you'll end up wanting to fix it. This is especially true on older kits where things like neck and torso height are annoying.
i mod them sometimes, usually battle damage or something minor, usually get the model to have it just like the anime, now star trek kits.. i mod the hell out of them!
*>.>* I'd mod my gundam kits to the extreme as long as i have a duplicate of the kit(in case something happens*gasp*)and the mod is tasteful, detailed, and functional.
don't mod.... but I am not at that point yet...
I am not skilled enough to mod, if I try I;m going to suck
Would love to do some mods in my gunpla if a had the skills.
Ah boy... I had been playing around with a bit of weathering but I could never bring myself to damage my gundams in anyway to get it to looks as cool as I would want to mod it... such a dilemma. I should just do as I did with my Warhammer figures, have a clean copy and a moddable version. Would be expensive though.
Although it looks kind of cool, I just don't see the point in doing that.
Does look cool and unigue i guess but not a fan. Never mada a gundam, more of a macross model fan.
the only mods I do to my gunpla is just paint it a different color. if you consider that a mod, though. <_<
Never tried modding, but I'd like to someday.
Before recent, I went for the close to anime look. Then I decided to paint my HG 1/144 Exia's Lenses a Gundam Eye (thats what it says on the gundam marker anyhow) color to make it look like the GN drive was running. A week later, wanted to put LEDs into it. Another week later (like 3 hours ago actually ^^;) I stuck a LED into the center lens part. I think the quick change was due to seeing a Trans-am 00 mod on the site and the fact that I had another Exia from the GN-Arms kit. :D
Tbh I prefer having the original thing, but mods do look very cool. Requires so much time/effort/knowledge though, all things I don't have! I think mods to improve look on the original designs are cool, like if it doesn't look like it does in the anime or w/e, and also mods to improve mobility, but I lack the time/effort/knowledge for this too. Anyways hope you get back in to Gunpla soon Danny ^_^
hmm using rx-78-2 ver 2 as the base right!^^:
Haven't done so in the past but I may consider only if the mod increase the articulation.
Custom scheme and LED mono eye installations are the only mods I've ever done.
Only mod I've ever done was for the MG Sword Strike's shield so that it could be mounted on the side of the arm like the Aile Strike shield. Turned out okay.
Not really interested in mods, but suppose i'll try it in the future
I've given modding a shot by adding panel lines and holes with a small pin vice. I usually put pins in there for articulation.
Just started on mods on a MG Strike Launcher/Sword. Im still new so it's nuthing big.
I'm also new to it, so just hoping to get my 2nd MG kit put together, painted and weathered up properly.
Holey Gundam!
no thanks i love my gundams the way they are ^_^
Same Here :)
