Mabinogi

(Figures(50)
Fri 2009/01/09 17:36
This 1/7 scale figure of Nao (Adventure Ver.) will be available in April and retail for 7,400 yen by Orchid Seed - more pics at Hobby Search.
Very cute with nice looking eyes - all four of them.
Always wanted to give Mabinogi a whirl but never got round to it. Is Nao-chan still in it?
Some Nao Miku action below.

Navigator Nao... she guides you in the beginning of the game, so she must still be in it. I think the advert with her on is one of the main sources of new players so I doubt they would remove her. I honestly didn't like the game though... only played for a few hours but it seemed very tedious. ^^;

The figure doesn't seem to have the calm expression I'm used to her having though... she almost seems to have a cunning face in that figure which is a bit strange to me.

Mabinogi is a great game * that will drain your wallet faster then figurine collection*

Play the US version, which require proxy for everyone outside of US and Australia *manage to play without proxy but Nexon fixed that*. Avoid MMO, it is damn addictive!

Wish I have gotten the Succubus figure when it was still in stock.

Nao is still right at the start of the game! I started it a few weeks ago and quit not long after. It's a pretty good game but it does drain you wallet and MMORPGs just aren't fun without friends!

Ohhh, how pretty. I used to play Mabinogi. Nao is still around of course. I do miss the game sometimes, but I've moved on. Mabinogi just had too many things that cost money. It started to feel more like a subscription based MMO than a 'free to play' one. It's a shame too since I had a lot of fun playing it. Now I'm starting to miss it again... Siiigh~

Ohhh, how pretty. I used to play Mabinogi. Started way back at the US closed beta, then played into the open beta and onward. I do miss the game sometimes, but I have moved on to other stuff. It's a shame too since I had a lot of fun playing it. My only problem with Mabinogi was that it just had too many things that cost money. It started to feel more like a subscription based MMO than a 'free to play' one as it's advertised. But everything else about it was really good. Now I'm starting to miss it again... Siiigh~

I almost tried it, but then I looked at the character selection, and I just cried because I didn't know what to do. I assume the starting age gives you a better run toward a specific class...which I just never decided on. Wasted my entire beta time not playing it! >.<"

Haha, that sucks. The starting age doesn't have to do with classes or anything. Baisically the lower age you start at, the more skill points you will end up with, cause you earn bonus skill points as you get older, up until a certain age. You also earn them from levelling up.

Is this some new look for Nao? Kinda reminds me of Lara Croft for some reason.

I got the very cute GSC nendoroid Nao (http://www.goodsmile.info/detail/eng/637/Nendoroid+Nao.html) as well as the 1/8th GSC version (http://www.goodsmile.info/detail/eng/447/Nao.html).

I think I prefer the GSC look.

Well, I'm biased for Mabinogi since I'm playing it at the moment and my blog covers the NA patch previews too. Nao's still in it of course since she's the 'mascot' of the game, although personally I prefer other characters. To me, I don't think there's any true F2P game. There will always be items available from cash shop to add to your game play. I'm prepared to spend money on games so long as it's worth my time and value. So long as you don't get addicted and splurge on obvious cash grabs, and you're still having fun, MMOs are fine. Mabinogi's cel-shaded 3D system as well as open-ended skill system isn't for everyone. It takes some getting used to, but it's quite fun. :)

Yeah, I understand what you mean about there being no true F2P games. Like I still play Albatross18/Pangya, have been playing it for maybe 3-4 years now, and buy their cash items once in awhile, because I'm a sucker for the clothes in that game. I try to avoid the scratch cards though, as that's an obvious and dangerous real money sink. XD

I was just miffed about the rebirth procress in Mabinogi requiring money for a new character slot, cause without rebirthing I pretty much hit a dead end when it came to levelling. I only want to buy cash items when I want them, not because I feel like I need them to progress in the game.

Ah well, maybe someday I'll make more money and I'll revisit Mabinogi. I really liked the game's world, it was really nice and relaxing. The combat system was also a good change from the usual MMO combat I had been used to. I'm also really curious about the Xbox 360 port, which seems to have halted, since there hasn't been news about it in ages... :<

PangYa is great, but their gachas are even worse since it's reeeeeeeally hard to avoid trying to get the moe outfits or useful accessories and clubs. I think I spent more on that game than any other game, and it wasn't even one of the ones I spent the most time on. It was because of PangYa that I swore never to play gacha on MMOs again. ^^;;

Yes, I do agree with you regarding rebirths. Normally, I think you'd need to rebirth every 1-2 months to be able to continue with your character's progress, so you're going to have to spend money on it. I guess to me, especially coming from RO's monthly subscriptions immediately prior to Mabinogi, I consider it's just a cost for playing the game just like any hobby.

G4 and the new continent of Iria will be out within a month, so the world will be much larger with more things to explore. I'm not too sure about the Xbox 360 port either.

I played Mabinogi for a while with a cousin of mine i found it rather entertaining especially since its free2play but I ended up stopping not because I lost interest but more because i didn't have the time for it. But when i was playing it was beta so i found that really interesting because we would go into a dungeon, go to fight a boss, and then MYSTICALLY end up in someone else's private dungeon fighting with them. And all of us in the dungeon were like *??* who are you?! LOL Then we partied up and kept fighting the giant spider. Good Beta Times. xD

Haven't played it (as I don't live in a country where it's licensed for release atm), though I'd give it a shot if ever it were. Do have the good smile succubus though and she's so sexily gorgeous. Would have liked their Nao too but was before my time and a bit tough to track down for a reasonable price now. This Nao figure is alright, but doesn't really set my heart aflame with desire to get her.
