Earlier on today just after 7pm at Togoshi Ginza having some Japanese style curry soup for din dins - 980 yen. While curry is not a traditional dish over here, the Japanese really do make good currys - try some when you are over.
Haven't tried it yet but would love to.
:D looks nice, never really liked it without katsu though nice of them to give u some drink vouchers too :P
You know, curry is popular there in Japan that I thought that it originated from Japan LOL XD
Indian make the curry! When 1Xth century they bring the food to the EAST! 1st Place on East sure is the Straits of Malacca,..So now everyone in Msia know curry.. Every one in South East Asia knows curry. Then they bring this culture to Far East such as China+Japan when they are on Business. Curry is Hot Curry is Spicy!!!! Remember this! Sweet or other taste of curry are not original curry!!!!!!!
Well yeah I know the Indians made the curry. It was just that the first time I saw it years ago was in an anime and I thought it was made by the Japanese. Took me sometime before I found out that it came from India x_x
Curry is Hot Curry is Spicy here!!!!
Is it just the angle of the photo or do you have some weird double watch thing going on there?
It looks like that to me as well... If it really is two watches attached, Danny's just earned some serious geek cred in my book XD
Haha, thought it was just me... XD
You can see him wearing that watch all the time in the Daimakura photos, that is his real watch.
i knew it! i've been wondering all this time Danny, i think we'll need some instructables on this
Should get one of those watches that have both analogue and digital time displays. I have one because I like having both too. I guess sticking two watches together is more eye catching, though =P
Japanese curry that I tasted was sweet~~~ even I chose for the spiciest....... thus I alway mix with Shichimi Togarashi chili powder ^o^
i wanted to try and make some myself, however every recipe requires "curry sauce mix" (S&B Golden Curry or other brand) or other premade curry paste or blocks. i cant find it in local supermarkets here, so i gave up after not finding a way to make the sauce myself... if anyone has a good recipe plz share ^^ thx
Love to try it! But I bet the best Curry in the world is From my Country!!! My mum cook the best curry all the time!!Chicken,Pork,Mutton,Fish,Vegetables even Turkey Curry are her best dish. I heard some Taiwan cook curry with potato, they are using it as the curry soup. IN Malaysia we use Potato as a sub Food. My mum learn the vegetables curry from her Indian Friend who is Vegeterian. Chicken,Pork,Mutton....All Learn from her old Grand Ma! Danny if you come Malaysia..don't only try Char Siew Fan,hainan Chicken Rice..Try curry here! Indian,Malay or Chinese Curry are Best in here!
Totally Agreed! Do have some try if you come to Malaysia Danny.
Always liked japanese curry. Taste is really different from what I have here, more spicy here.
Totally different kinds of curry... but I do like both :D
I really want to try that! I haven't had curry before.
And here I thought all the only curry they have is that sweet curry, which I quite liked. Then again, you did mention that Good Smile has an Indian restaurant on its premises sometime back...

Agreed, Japanese curries are the best. That's a big chunk of meat you have there (I hope it's meat ^^;) I remember finding slight traces of meat in mine...didn't cost as much though
love Japanese curry as they are not that spicy!
That curry looks like the curry I make, It all waterish, good for mixing with noddles, if not too salty could be drank like soup. However I also like the chunky ver too.
I love my curry hot as in super duper hot. Japanese curry has a bit of sweetness in them. I love thick Japanese curry with torikatsu + rice. Delicious.
hmmm isn't it seem to be kinda... watery? i've bought & made some of the japanese curry block, and it doesn't seem to be this... watery i prefer my curry to be .... anybody in indonesia, what's "kental" in english? ^^
No idea what kental means, but I presume you mean "thick", "viscous", etc.
reminds me of the minami-ke episode where kana made curry for dinner... Kana: "It seems too thick" Chiaki: "No choice but to water it down" Kana: "Now it looks too watery" Chiaki: "Add more powder" goes on a couple times and they end up with 3 pots of curry ^^;
yah, what litokid says, "thick" or "viscous" for "kental".
Hmmm...I would like to try ^^
Looks yummy
yep, would like to test it, too ^^
For some reason, it has been imported into local grocery. I can not determine if it the "authentic" flavor, of course, but it is not bad.
It looks tasty...Soo hungry now....
Being someone who's used to the 'normal' spicy curry (who in Malaysia isn't), it was certainly a strange experience when I had my first Japanese curry. I don't dislike it, but can't say I like it either.
Haven't tried Japanese curry before but would love to. Somehow curry gets mentioned in many different anime series...
I have tried eating Japanese curry and I loved it~
I love curry, especially if its soup and ramen. :D I'd love to go to a resturaunt in Japan and try some. :D
Had some chicken curry in Shibuya once. Though they asked 2 questions, the first my friend figured out was size, and we think the second was how spicy we wanted. Wished we figured out the second one before we ate.
Hmmm... i dont know :P
there's this place called Rakuya in Ikebukuro area omg so damn good :P~~~~~~~ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/puppy52/464857385/) want to go back again ^^;
I will give it a try when i get there. Only know malay curry the best atm.
I love english-ised curry and have had alot of other made for me by exchange students at college. When i go to Japan i hope to try everything i can in 2 weeks. Is that 2 watches on one watch strap? Do like the look of the chunky one on the left.
There's something about Japanese version of curry that tastes different from the normal Indian curry. Although I really like curry, I try not to eat too much.
Had a Japanese neighbor that made one for me and it was very tasty ^^
For all the Curry Lovers out there... you cannot miss this manga "Addicted to Curry" and... YES, I'm a curry addict ^^
Not had the chance to try it yet. Lots of ramen though, I need a less salty version. Kagami looks like she is scared that you are going to throw her in the bowl and eat her too.
I ate this before at a restaurant, tasted good! ^^ (the restaurant is called: The Asian Kitchen)
If I tried it I would probably suffer. I'm no good with spicy food at all.
Looks good and spicy! I love spicy foods mainly cause im used to with all the chiles I eat in my meals. Haven't had curry but would like it.
During my trip to Japan, I think karerice was the one thing I ate most. Cheap and tasty, perfect for cold weather! I also ate few days ago... my aunt made it. Here in Brazil it's also something japanese decendants do... but it's a bit different from the japanese one. We use powder indian curry (it's a little bit stronger and more yellowish), in my family people usually throw lots of veggies together (tasty), and we don't use much sugar... But I guess I like both versions.
I love Curry. I must try some Japanese style Curry when I go someday.
I adore curry. I've been to Japan only once and hadn't had the chance to try it, so I'm not sure how authentic the stuff I had over in Portland (probably not even close). I have had authentic (homemade) Indian curry and curry is popular in Korean cuisine (which I eat alot). The curry in the picture looks scrumptious.
I've been to Japan and ate some tonkatsu curry at a shop in Akiba. 'Twas delicious.
Nice watch Danny! Combi of analog and digital :D
That looks good, want to try it next time I'm in Japan (which will be in May ^-^/ )
never tried it but it looks realy good
First time I had Japanese curry was on a JAL flight from HK to Okinawa. Smelt really distinctive especially packed in a cabin and probably reheated in a microwave. Tasted like no other curry I had before. Much sweeter but still chilli hot and thick at the same time. Later there was this small Japanese takeaway place around the corner of my old work place. Really thick and tasty, almost like a stew and I'm guessing the chef cooked it overnight or something. I used to be addicted to their katsu curry don! Man, thinking about it just makes me hungry!!
The oil... @__@ Gotta eat more veggies, Danny!! :p
In San Diego CA all I've seen were curry roux block type curries in restaurants. Like if you buy curry its plain with nothing in it :(. I wish we had some curry that over here looks so good.
I find Japanese curry is be a lot more milder than any of the other curries I've had. Although, it is entirely possible that I've just been getting the wimp curry. Never had curry soup though...Looks way too thin and oily. Oh, and Danny, never noticed this before, but you have a huge watch. Digital and analog? Isn't that a bit of overkill? Must weigh a ton.
I've always liked my mom's Chinese/Indonesian curry hybrid, and that's what I'm used to. I'll try the Japanese one someday. I hope you put Kagami away before eating or she'll get splashed with curry XD
Japanese curry! One of the things I miss from Japan, especially the instant kind, it's so convenient and doesn't taste like dog poo. I love curry in Japan, but I do tend to prefer the Indian kind instead. It's got more flavor to it (usually).
The curry I tried at a Japanese restaurant didn't look like that, but it was tasty...
Is the curry in your photo spicy?
Very
I know I don't like the indian curry much, but haven't tried the japanese curry yet ^^; I'm also wondering if it's spicy?
OMG what a coincidence I was having curry too! ^___^ It's so good lol
lol is that two watches stuck together?
I love all curry. The best Japanese curry that I had was in Tokyo at a place called Dom Pierre: http://www.bento.com/rev/2836.html
I really love curry ^^.
Japanese curry was my first curry dish. I only had that type of curry until I did a bit of traveling over the pacific. Simply put, I tried (and got used to) Japanese curry before trying a curry dish in Singapore. ...boy was I surprised.
Spectre loves Curry! ^^!
Needs to try Japanese curry. Malaysian curry is fine too :3
Ñam! Love karee!!!!!!
yummy !! ^^:
between Indian and Japanese curry, i'll take the later. not a big fan of spices.
is curry actually good?
aaa i want to try curry!
No, I haven't even smell it before T_T. I would like to taste it.
I ate it today.
Have never had japanese curry before (I don't think I've ever had curry before, for that matter). I think I'd like to try it if I got the chance though, I might have to fight the whole multi-cultural eww urges though. There's already enough American food I can't stand. (I'm referring to whatever ingredients Japanese may use that Americans don't use.) It's all in my head though, I'd try it if I got the chance XD
I wish I could try some good Japanese Curry, but unfortunately Toronto isnt known for their exquisite selection of Japanese restaurants :( Willing to pay top dollar for some, someone Express-Post it to me from Japan! :P
I tried a japanese curry rice here in my place but not sure if it is authentic or not. It reminds me of Harima Kenji of School Rumble competing to finish up curry rice with his love rival.
I always eat lunch at Curry Kitchen whenever I head to Akihabara. I know it is a fast food type place and not an authentic Japanese Curry place, I still love their food :)
Mmm, I love curry. If you have those curry blocks and some ramen, you can make the curry (not thick) and add the noodles. It tastes pretty good.
All I've ever had was those instant curry packets where you poil the entire package in hot water for 5 minutes and them pour it over beef or croquette that's next to rice. The consistency is perfect though. The one in your picture looks a bit watery-er, but I'm sure it tastes splendid. Since I'm not sure they can charge you close to $10 if it's not.
Man I love curry... Really want to try it... Also, I can't understand how you can wear that watch with two faces. Then again, I hate wearing watches so I definitely don't know.
i will definitely try this when i go to Japan~
there are Japanese restaurant here in Brunei called Excapade Sushi, when I tried it it makes me wanna eat it again and the chefs are Muslim Japanese. I better go buy it now, speaking of curry XD
