Yay or Nay 8 Getting Sick

Do you like getting sick or do you hate it?

This question has been on my mind since yesterday. You see, I got sick yesterday which was bad timing because I had to go to school. The day before yesterday my throat felt sore. That's basically a bad sign. Everytime my throat feels that way it would mean that I would get sick the next day. I decided to sleep early that day but 2AM the following morning I suddenly woke up feeling miserable. My body felt like it was one giant wet sponge. My head was throbbing with pain and I couldn't sleep. It took me an hour before I can sleep again which wasn't enough sleep because I had to wake up early that day for school (woke up at 04:30AM).

Upon arriving at school I still felt really miserable. I took some vitamins during breakfast and also drank some medicine. Also, since my lack of sleep I found myself almost dosing off from time to time. As soon as I arrived back home I went straight to my room and slept until it was time for dinner. That actually did the trick because the moment I woke up I was feeling a lot better.

Now it's pretty obvious that I don't like getting sick. Back in Elementary school I can only recall three instances where I had to stay home when I was sick. In High school, I forced myself to go to school even when I was feeling miserable. Same goes for College. Being at home sick and not in school would mean that I would miss a day's worth of lessons and I don't want to go to the trouble asking my classmates of the lessons I missed. It's a good thing that I have never been seriously ill before.

But I can't say the same thing to you guys. I grew up watching numerous TV shows involving kids being happy when they stay at home while being sick. I just want to know if there are people out there that really do become happy when they get sick because that would mean they have a valid reason to skip school. I do like it when there's no school but only if it's because it's a holiday or because classes are suspended that day (weather, natural disasters, terrorists/coup activities, accidents).

Our 2D counterparts in the parallel universe also get sick so don't think that they're immune! They do look cute when they're sick though O_o

Examples of people getting sick (in case you're the type who has never gotten sick before):

001 (New treatment. Very effective!)

002

003 (Has anyone here tried the leek treatment?)

004 (Do you guys treat yourself or does someone take care of you?)

005

006 (Cat treatment. Effectiveness is highly criticized)

007 (Even Miku gets sick from time to time)

008

009 (Aliens are no exception)

010 (It seems that half-breeds are are affected by illnesses of both species)

I always have a love-hate relationship with it. I get away from most work, which I like, but in turn, I become slower in my progress, which I hate.

Oh yeah. Gurgle with hot (but not too hot) water and salt. That helps me out. Also, if your head is killing you, eat ginger to reduce inflammation. Eating fish helps also, but only do that when you don't have your head killing you.

I'm not sick anymore but I'll make sure to remember those. How can I forget "gurgling wit hot water and salt" treatment? Tried that some years ago but eventually forgot about it. The ginger and fish thing is new to me x_x

Hate getting sick and staying home sick from school does not change the fact that I'm sick and suffering from the pain.

Got sick right at the start of 2009. Felt really bad that time, couldn't move much cause my body was aching... Loved getting sick when I was young though, could skip school and parents will keep attending to me as a result ^^;;

Luckily I don't get sick very often. Unfortunately, I've been getting sick quite a bit lately. When I was younger I used to like getting sick. It was horrible actually being sick, but I would have done just about anything to miss school at the time. Now, however, I hate to miss any school or work, so I just can't bring myself to miss anytime now. I force my self to go even if I feel horrible. I miss the good old days sometimes...

I'm just like you. Don't like to lose class because of sickness and have all the trouble to get what I lost. And I would rather not fell the pain (had some terrible stomachacke where I had to go to hosptal because of the pain).

I detest being sick. I've been sick now for the last week and a half. I'm never happy when I'm sick.

If I want to skip work I simply take a day off work or school. Would never accept being sick as a fair trade for a day off.

I don't like being sick, especially on working day, I would miss lecture and lab session, but if a slight fever or cold on the weekend seem ok. I can sleep all day long with out worry.

But the only worry is not finishing my job. :(

I hate getting sick. I'm usually immune when something's going around so when I get sick I get REALLY sick. I try my best to muscle through it. Even went as far as to go to school with a stomach flu.

Well that's still better than my allergy. I am only allergic to one thing and that one thing will literally cost me my life.

I can't eat this one kind of bean, don't know what's it called in English. I don't know the details but my mom said that it doesn't go well with my blood.

Now that you mention it, i don't think i've been getting sick at all lately. I personally hate only the annoying sicknesses such as stuffy nose and itchy throat. Then again, those are the most common.

But if someone nice takes care of me.........^^"

Yeah who would actually want to get sick? True you get to stay home and just chill but you'd feel miserable too :/ Speaking of which I'm kind of sick T_T Not enough to prevent me from going to class but still kind of annoying nonetheless...

Runny nose, coughing up a lung, unable to breathe while having eyes so water that you can't see two inches in front of you. Something all people aspire to.

Anybody who really wants to be sick, is well... sick. Sure, it's fun skipping school because you're "sick" and play video games all day, but really being sick is NOT fun. I'd be happy if I never got sick again for the rest of my life.

I don't usually get sick, that's why I always loved to get sick until the end of high school, because being sick enough meant staying at home instead of going to school, and man it was worth it ^^

Now it's a pain, because my immune system is not as good (I stay sick three times the time I used to) and I live by myself. Luckily I have never gotten seriously sick, so I guess it's a blessing in some way.

So no, I used to yay but now is big fat NAY.

Hahahahah well I've always been healthier than I look and never got seriously sick (in fact most of the time I got sick my parents just dragged my ass to school anyway), so the times I was allowed to skip school due to sickness I was pretty psyched.

I don't like getting sick just because of all the fluids spilling out of my nose all the time... I also didn't like it when I was still in school because I didn't want to miss anything, if I miss something it'll throw off my rhythm. And these days at work I get possessive of my own work. I just don't like other people doing my work because they tend to mess it up, or not doing it the way I do it.

Sick at the moment >__< I absolutely hate it, I have so much work to do, it just slows me down so much, and makes me feel miserable. Like with last night my first gig back after christmas, I was blwoing my nose every 5 minutes between tunes. ^^;

I end up forcing myself to do things sometimes when I'm ill, which sometimes does more harm than good.
