7pm in Tokyo - Figure Placement

(Dollfie(89)
Tue 2009/01/06 20:01
Am late in taking down the festive decorations. Done the tree in front of the house yesterday and done the lounge this evening.

Wondering if you have figures displayed in common areas of your house (lounge, kitchen, toilet, bath) or are they all in your room?

No way, it's over. No reason to leave it up. It just feels weird at that point. Plus... with the new year I want to start thinking warmer thoughts... can't wait for spring! I dislike winter...

Took our stuff down in the middle of last week. Yet, if it was up to me, I'd leave it up all year. This way, all the decorations will already be up for when the holidays come around again.

We took down our decorations last week to make room.

As much as I would like to out figures in other places in the house other than my room, I don't have a big collection to do that. Also, my sister tends to break stuffs a lot so I prefer my figures in my room where it's mostly safe.

BTW nice view from down here, Mr Danny! LOL XD

Thinking of displaying my figurines all around inside the house but then decided not to, it would be annoying when it comes to cleaning.

Besides, I have to purchase cabinets/shelves first for displaying all my figurines >.< since they all still inside their boxes.

Btw Danny, is your wall shelves from Ikea? I could not find the wall brackets like yours and was thinking maybe only available on Japan. Really love your wall shelves..

My girls are all sleeping in my room. XD
I am living with my parents so i can't place my girls everywhere. Also, with 5 cats at home, do you think i dare to put them any place outside my room?
Then again, if i have a house on my own, i don't think i will put them everywhere. Somehow, i enjoy seeing them all at one place. LOL~

Figures will never leave my room in house placement, they are controversial enough as it is.

My collection is small, only 6 figures, that I keep in my room on a bottom shelf and still in their boxes so they don't collect dust.

I don't display them which defeats the purpose of owning figures in the first place (>oo)> However, you can see my Max Factory Kasumi and GSC Sumomo Nendoroid - still in their boxes - if you look down at the shelf...since they're the ones that are in the front while the rest are stacked behind.

I took the tree down but I leave my Xmas lights up since it lights up the house wonderfully. As for figures around the house, they'd collect a ton of dust of I leave em everywhere since I'm a person who's not used to cleaning/dusting down the place regularly ^^; so just one room is fine.

Well while my fiance is still in uni, I live at home, so for now my figures stay in my room.

Once my fiance and I can get our own house though, I'll have figures mostly in the living room on shelves/cabinets, in the games room and wherever else I feel like putting them.

Well its not really my house... so all my figures are kept in my room. If it were my house, perhaps I might freely place a few figures here and there but only those that I am willing to get damaged and in places where that hopefully doesn't happen. For that reason, kitchen and washroom is out...

I like this new comment button!

Most collectors wouldn't consider spreading figure displays away from originally-designated areas until they're forced to, by running out of space ^^;

As much as I would agree that placing appropriate figures at arbitrary places would be lulzy (Super Soniko in the kitchen, pooping Asuka on the toilet, for examples), you'd pretty much need everyone you know to be understanding and neither feel nor cause embarrassment. Maybe in 20 years, culture will be more accepting even for more tame ideas.

I had a lot of 1/6th size ones on the VCR shelf in the front room. Got some house repair people coming over and humidity is high again here so I put them all up yesterday and that took about 3 1/2 hours back in the boxes. Some of the paint on the skirts never dried and putting them back together without the plastic left some paint stains on the underwear and hip area. /sigh. Learn something new every day.

this year we kept it minimalistic, just display cards from friends/family on our fireplace, an a doll size tree (yes U heard me) lol no socks etc :P we got ourselves presents we like already so :3.  Figures and toys remain in our "home office" Leaving them out is just asking for them to be touched and manybe damaged by visitors ^^;

I will take down decorations this weekend. We usually leave decorations up until the end of the first week anyways... Yes, figures are found in a few places about the house. My wife and I have a small table near the entrance for seasonal displays. Usually figures can be found there depending on the time of year.

Can't have them everywhere, unfortunately, I have roomates. However, me and one of my roomates seem to be in a contest to see who has the most figures. He seems to have more, but I think mine should count for more since I have more normal size figures and he is beating me with legions of trading figures.

Actually, none of my figures are in my room since I'll only have a room in a few weeks... I've been camping in the living-room and displaying them there as well as in the kitchen. Even though most of them will end up in my room, I'll still leave a couple here and there since family members think it cheers the place up. :)

As for decorations, I'm not taking them down until I've eaten some King cake (although I'm already a day late for that...).

Almost all of my stuff is in my room, save for one. A fully built and painted 1/35 Trumpeter Leopold. It's about a meter long so it's an interesting display even if you're not into scale models.

Do not own enough figures to place them all around the house. But its not like my parents would approve of it anyways.

If I display every of my figures out in the open... it'll kill me to clean them of the layers of demeaning dust. My room is that dusty >.<

Unfortunataly, I do not have figures all over the place, since I do not have my own place. When I do; I have some serious plans for figures being part of my decor.
