Tokyo Mode Gakuen is a school for folks who want to study the arts, fashion, design and media. They have a ton of groovy TV commercials and by the looks of their new building, they are making quite a few bob. The new building will be a 50 floor tower in Shinjuku and will be completed this October - more details at the official site. The interior images show mac /windows design rooms, shop window decoration studio, sewing room, creation room etc. Would love to have attended a school like this - the coolest school I've seen to date. The building in construction in Shinjuku below. Some Mode Gakuen CMs below.
Holy mother of god if only education was taking as seriously here. You can look forever and never find a school building like that.
The tallest library in the world is at University of Massachusetts Amherst. I think that's pretty impressive.
Wow... I wonder what education at this place will cost. ^^;
A few thousand per month, optimistically speaking... and that was in Sing. $, not yen.
All the more reason to hate schooling in America. If only our government cared more about our education then maybe we would have cool buildings like that too.
That's not going to happen, our government's idea of education is to get everone to join the army and get killed when they feel like invading another country.
Am I the only that noticed it looks like a giant phallic structure? I mean it even has balls or something. I guess they need some inspiration to draw yaoi doujinshi.
CANNOT UNSEE
ya i noticed the balls like thingy as well. ('~')
That was my first impression also.
CAN'T UNSEE!!
LOL...
I noticed that too. hahah! Cool school though. If only schools are like that. (not by the way the building looks though) LOL
LOL! Now that you mentioned it... I have to agree that, CAN'T UNSEE!
haha they only have one ball there.. guess they forgot to put the other one on the left.... =p
CAN'T UNSEE
So nice... now I'm going to bed and dream of a life I could go back in time and study in such a place...
The problem is do they accept folks from overseas.
wow that looks amazing, i would love to visit a design school in japan, don't think I could go, since Japanese looks complicated and I'm glad to be able to survive English hehehhe. The design school i went to had a tall building in bust area of Rosslyng, Arlington Virginia, but nothing as cool as thins.
wow that's a really really pretty school. I wonder if its one of those earthquake-proof type of buildings?...
Looks like someone has seen the gherkin in London. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/30_St_Mary_Axe Designed by Norman Foster. Its not a school tho.
wow! that school is so cool but th question is how much is the tuition fee there lulz XD
Very cool is right! Maybe except the fact that it looks like a... The cost to study there must be fatal.
Cant find any course prices on the site - must be an arm and a leg.
but don't you need your arm to do all that design work? maybe it's cost both legs
Might as well make it the whole lower half of your body.....
well, surprisingly the tuition cost around ¥1,200,000 per year, probably about $10,000...its really low comparing to the university in the US right?
That translates as around £5,700, in the UK university usually costs £3000 a year. That's VERY high.
Wow that's somewhat cheap comparing to how much university costs in Canada for international students and not to mention tuition fees keep going up year by year in Ontario at least. is the $10,000/year for any students ? or for local students only ? Do they have different rates for international students
Really expensive schools might have a tuition of $10,000 in Ontario, but most are in the 5000-8000 for the tuition, but then there are books and residence if you need it and all the ancilleries. But yeah, international students pay WAY more than locals.
wow education looks interesting for once..
There's only one school better than Tokyo Mode, and that's Balamb and Galbadia Garden outa FFVIII ofcourse.
Wow, I'd totally want to go there and do fashion design!
Yeay, a new skyscraper in Shinjuku Skyscraper district. They must have started on this building only recently, don't remember seeing anything like this back in November 2006. Must be an expensive school indeed. The building will probably contain some hotel, office or maybe a student dorm. 50 floors for a school is quite a lot.
the tuition fee is the same for both local and international student, and the 50 floors contains nothing other than the school itself, there're also other courses other than fashion, like interior, graphic and stuff and they have around 2000 students so the school is pretty big..
