dannychoo.com Wordpress Theme

(Otaku(76)

If you have a burogu then you may (or may not) be interested in a dannychoo.com theme for Wordpress created by talented CSS designer YoU. Have a look at http://theakiba.com/ to see how he implemented it and you can download it here. You may get confused for a second as to what site you are on ^^;

I've tested it in my Localhost and it works fine. I would suggest you play around with the colors and background graphics to style it to your original recipe.

Just a note to say that I cannot be responsible for any data loss or slaps to the face by your girlfriend as a result from installing the theme - blame YoU instead (joke ^^;)

Parts of dannychoo.com itself runs on a proprietary platform called Mirai Gaia - the other parts are old legacy software. Will be fully migrated in 2009.

Learned most of my CSS by looking at how others wrote theirs. You can learn a load from W3 Schools and by looking at the CSS code from the sites featured on Tech Crunch. The first full CSS page I ever made was my profile page - before that it was full of Table tags which are only meant for tabular data.

Would be interesting to know how many of you code HTML/CSS?

Sadly, LiveJournal does not allow for stuff like this without money. And since I bite at coding (Have done okay with HTML, but not so good with the rest of it.) I can't work it at all.

LOL. I had to answer no to the question, which would make me "technology illiterate"? I think that's the first time I ended up being classified like that XD

The thing is that I'm an electrical engineer and and this means that not only can I code quite a lot of different languages, I can also design hardware. I just never cared for making homepages for some reason so I never bothered to learn html. I'm sure I would be able to code it overnight if I have to though XD

I need get started on my personal project -that went on hold after summer- to improve my HTML and CSS. Really want to get back to jQuery and move on to other things like PHP... Yes, I learn a lot from other people's code as well.

If anyone is interested in using books, both "Head First" and "The Missing Manual" book series are good starters.

^^; It's interesting, but...I'd be rather annoyed if someone copied my design. Then again, imitation's the best form of flattery, no?

I've wanted to learn how to code CSS for awhile, and barely got started during this break. Want to start working on a Wordpress theme, but keep procastinating.

When first making this theme, I didn't really wanna make it such an identical one to DC.com, so I changed the color and twisted the layout. But, well, it "happened" to be the same after I customized some parts^o^. If you dont like this one you may consider it as a test for fun. I think Danny really "hurt" a lot of people by bring such a big site and those figure stuffs ^o^

Sweet :) Might give it a try since I'm looking to skin my work-in-progress personal blog for some time now. I'll probably tweak the colour scheme and images a bit (to be on the waifu's safe side, haha!) Thanks to YoU ^o^

Have some idea about CSS but can't really code from scratch. Used to do the early versions of my website by notepad in html ^_^, and then experimented with CSS for a while... that was such a long time ago before packaged open-source stuff become so readily available.

Anyway, for the next phase of my website I'm thinking of going back to manual coding with notepad and some CSS, since I can't really find any suitable open-source blog or content management solution that fits the idea of how I want to layout my contents...

Though if it looks like the layout on the http://theakiba.com/ link then i might not like it. I don't like thumbnails for locating my articles.

Make it completely grayscale... then whenever new people enter, they will go "what happened to the colours?" XD

Some people really code pranks into their homepages. I once noticed a black pixel and thought it was odd that a black pixel was in the middle of nowhere on that homepage. I scrolled a bit and the pixel stayed on the same localtion and I thought "oh no, I got a dead pixel". Then I started moving the browser window and the "dead" pixel moved. For some reason somebody coded a black pixel into the homepage that should stay at a certain position in the window, even when scrolling. I laughed really hard when I realised what it was, but I have to admit, I was tricked at first XD

Hmmm.. looking at the theme at the moment and all i could say is that it will blend well
depending on what kind of blog are you running (target readers)
Overall it's one awesome skin. I'll be keeping a copy of this and maybe tinker with it a little
to suit my taste especially now that i'm starting to plan on changing my site skin again.

well, I'm on wordpress.com and they pretty much don't allow anything outside it's own presets...

But I quite like my current theme as I don't like to see things cluttered so even if I could use this theme, I probably wouldn't.

But first things first, I'd need a private host if I want to use a custom theme...

except the font size being a bit different here and there, almost everything seems to have been copied well. IMO being a clone of another site is a bit too much - no individuality i guess.

css is part of my job everyday. i'd rather spend some time and make my own theme on my site than copy a design from another site. else then it means a designers block. :( and since i'm on blogger, designing a custom theme for it is quite hard. for each line changed you need to preview the site >.< Hosting my own site with a customized theme would be faster and painless than making a theme for blogger.

As for learning CSS, I've sort of been self teaching myself CSS by way of my own blog. Though a class I had years ago touched on it enough that I remember a few things. Not sure I could code it from scratch though.

I used to code my websites by hand with notepad too but, I'm out-of-date with all the more recent technologies. Will have to pick up more on CSS to design my own theme... Maybe PHP and AJAX too so that I can just build my own blogging platform.

OMG the similarity is uncanny. Great job YoU!

I've been coding HTML/CSS for a while now. But my designs always looked funny. Guess I'm not much of a web designer after all ^^;

I'm better at PHP and Perl. But I am trying to improve my CSS skills. Sites like www.cssbeauty.com give me inspiration.

To be honest, I've never really liked the Danny Choo theme much. It's too crowded in some spaces and too barren in others. Plus there isn't much defining seperation between different areas. One would think there would atleast be <hr /> blocks seperating the different sections of the page. I do like the colors though, and the layout is nice too.

I think I'll stick to what I've got right now, I'm quite fond of it. ^_^

This is one of your posts that come once in a while that make me want to learn how to code, buy a site name, and start blogging. I must do it soon!

Hi there :)

I used the template provided on my blog by theakiba with my own colors :) =>http://www.fictionjunction.be/
I will modify it a bit to make it less "dannychoo"-like.
I'll let it online a few days to see how my visitors like it :)

Thank you very much Danny for this!
