Eroge maker Akabee Soft has issued an official apology for sending out packages with "Oppai ga ippai" (Lots of Oppai) printed on the box for postman, mom and all to see ^^; The Oppai set cost 15,000 yen and consisted of a load of oppai mousepads which you can see at ZakZak. As you can imagine, many otaku are not happy about the embarrasement and the news is going all around the Japanese Otakushpere. I remember when Kanojotoys sent me a Tenga to "review" - it had "Hobby Kit" written on the delivery slip ^^;
This is why I'm always worried when I buy "adult" things online. This would be like ordering a fleshlight and having it come in a box with sex toy written all over it.
I got news for you, that really doesn't matter. As a former United States Postal worker, we know what we are delivering, discreet or not. A magazine that's being mailed in a blacked out plastic wrap, we know it's a porn. Only thing we are left guessing with, is which publication, but when you look at the address', that's not much of a mystery. Packages could be a different story, but in most cases, that senders address is gonna give us a heads up. Fortunately I am sure a large number of carriers aren't familiar with the majority of content in J-list, nor care enough to see what goodies flood the site. Also, even with a discreet name, like I said before, your carrier still probably knows. When you have been delivering tons of these boxes for years, you kinda pick up on it.
I disagree. I think it depends on each situation. I've ordered many normal items that arrive in packages that hardly give away any info about the contents. I mean unless you as the deliver frequent lots of adult sites and are familiar with even the most obscure seller's address, i find it hard to believe you could surmise what is inside. I bought a questionable item just a week or two ago, and the company name wouldn't give away anything.
I was speaking from first hand experience as a postal carrier mate.
I once encountered a postal worker who cared. He asked me about my experience with the store in question because he considered buying from it too. It wasn't any ecchi stuff though. He also told me about another URL that could be interesting regarding the stuff in question. It would certainly have been interesting if it contained any ecchi stuff because it turned out that my mom heard everything ^^;
I hate the blacked out plastic wrap thing...some of my old gaming magazines used to come in that, and the neighbors would stare at me when I went to grab my mail, since they all assumed it was porn... >.<
Why should they care about your porn? That's what boys do. See, I've always lived my life not caring what people assumed of me. So naturally, I probably come off as a little creepy... ^^; Of course, none of this was about pornographic stuff, I just live my life as if I were in a musical. People tend to think lowly about that. <.<
Exactly. Porn. Yes. I like boobies. Normal men like boobies. You are judging me for being normal ? I have never really understood why people judge on that sort of thing.
Special delivery instructions: Leave with neighbor...Cross out any perverted images/words on the box.
Hahaha...that's hilarious! Imagine if their mom picked up the package...
They'd be hearing about it for a long time. And their future mail double checked and sender looked up. Or at least, they tend to think the worst-case scenario will happen. Luckily, my mom doesn't make much fuss about my stuff. Well, sometimes about those pillows :P
Funny... I imagine Danny would just sport a big grin if he saw a package like that on his doorstep.
LOL XD
second that XD
ROFL
i rather think he'd put on a straight face and say "oh, it's just the ususal packages....."
I guess his first reaction with this article was "been there done that" no offense, danny.
Or sport a storm trooper helmet.
Well... it wasn't lying was it... lol
Sure, I'd be embarrassed receiving the package, but it would be something to keep to just pull out for certain occasions.
You could re-use it to wrap a gift for a friend! xD (I would be quite horrified to find a package like that on my doorstep as well. In english, anyway. No one else in my house reads Japanese.)
It's only real bad when you live with family members or left in a place where can walk by and see...
They only issued an apology! Should give some more oppai
I'd hate to wonder what happens to me when I have packages shipped to my school. Since the packages get sorted and I recieve a notice to pick it up...and walk across the campus, into the building and up to the third floor, with the box in my hands like it's my baby, oh, and that's not mentioning if I run into groups of parents of senior highschoolers who are visiting campus -_-
well, if only they can read Japanese & able to catch a sight while you are speeding back to your room ^^
Apparently one of my friends ran into a group of visitors with a six pack of beer in one hand and a bottle of wine in another walking casually upstairs. He told me they gave him the weirdest looks.
What's wrong with that? I've done it many times in Uni, and I bet those parents have done the same. Don't tell me they don't expect their kids to drink a lil in Uni ^^" and I think that's what Western is famous for anyways XD
Yeah...That's exactly the case, same goes for drinking at Western ^^;
lol. so never buy something which you are embarrassed of.
no big deal for the non-Japanese customers. pity those otakus, bwahahaha!!! funny that they don't get embarrassed being spotted entering/leaving a JAV store but are ashamed to be known receiving such a package. =P
Lol it was a fun idea at first, but things don't work this way IRL..
lol reminds me of buying things on ebay and seeing the slip say - gift. avoiding tax is great XD
People used that too much here so the nice politicians added import tax to gifts too D: So far none of my gift packages ended up being taxed though.
The chances of people knowing how to read Japanese in my region = LOW To me, getting oppai mousepad is not something to be embarassed about....
The chances of people knowing how to read Japanese in my region = LOW To me, getting oppai mousepad is not something to be embarassed about....
hmm..., what does oppai mean?
"Eyes"
Or bewbs if you dunno "eyes" is also a term for that.
That really would be embarrassing. Well I wouldn't mind because I don't think a lot of people here can read Japanese, but it's embarrassing for them. Why are there even boxes with that in the first place?
Wow, That's not cool at all!!! Anyway hopefully the "quality" of the merchandise will out weigh the embarrassment.
LOL, I don't even think I would mind if that happened to me. I'm pretty much past the point of embarrassment with my hobby. ^^;
Exactly. Embarrassment was only there when I started collecting. After a while, everything is no big deal.
HAHA, awsome...
Uh, how is this an embarrasement? The images on the box of is enough to tell postmen & mom what is inside. Most importantly, why are otaku not happy about this situation in the birthplace oppai mousepads? This wouldn't embarrase me one bit.
The problem is the shipping box says.
The images speak for themselves.
What I mean is, if your mom signs for the package and doesn't open it she will see the Oppai Ippai Set hiragana but not the actual box for the item. Usually the shipping box would be unremarkable.
Hey, that title is inaccurate! There's one that's a derriere mouse pad!
That's noting if you really want something that you bought online. Why should you embarrass about it? I know that some people hate how others look at them but hey if this is what you always wanted why do you care so much about what others think of you? Just my 2 cents for those who are embarrass about it.
haha thats alot of mousepads
what?!?! that is absurd! with that printed on the box, the merchandise will surely be stolen XD haha
Haha Even if it's printed Oppai ga Ippai , it doesn't matter as my friends and parents wun understand ^.^
There are some nice Oppai Mouse Pads in that pack! You've made me remember the time there was a mistake in a messenger company and a box FULL of sex toys arrived to my house xdd I think i've never been so much "¿¡¡WTF??!!" in all my life xD
Well, look on the bright side. At least it wasn't "nekkid lolies dakimakuras". xD
well when you order stuff like that over the internet, you are setting yourself up to be exposed anyway, be it via online downloads or otherwise. i wouldn't even dare to go near those stuff with a what was it they call it again? 7 inch pole?
Luckily it is written in Japanese (Oppai ga Ippai) and not in English (Lots of eye) else my parents will be curious.
hahahahaha
If it's so embarrassing then don't buy it. Someone will obviously find out later anyway, or they probably already know. So why worry.
Well, it's always a little risky to order any ecchi stuff. But to write so eye-striking sentence on the box, it certainly was a big mistake to do. It's like they would have send it in a transparent plastic box.
yeah, to think they'll even have the images there and all.
Self-therapy would be a better label. Dolphin toys would also be good.
wow lucky that this didnt happen to me
Yeesh... This is why if ever I buy something ero I'd rather do a walk-in purchase...
Nice collection of oppai mice ^^
hahaha i really like the "for the postman and mom to see" this only applies when you still live with your mom unless you live in japan with your wife AND your parents ^^ or parents in law ^^
Yay, I can read better and kinda know what it means. Definitely glad my Japanese is improving if only slightly. But yeah, I would be pretty embarrassed about getting such a package. Then again, my parents can't read Japanese. ^^ But I never dared order anything though, since when I was younger, they tend to open my packages to check the contents. Thank goodness they don't do it now anymore, but don't wanna have to give them a reason start again...@_@
