Have you Ever Been In Love With A Anime Character

(Anime(74)
Tue 2008/12/23 06:09
NOTE* The pictures above i put into a collage because i cant post more than 1 so it may look bad

Although it may seem prposterous to some ( my spelling is VERY BAD ) some people fall in love with anime characters although it is weird and crazy to sane people its basicly the same as love with another person but the only diffrence is the person is not real........actully thats completly diffrent.(This is very hard to write about and i dont know why I am but im bad at spelling and writing so this may be a bad quality article)

I myself have a crush on Shana(top left) from shakugan no shana for her personality and her looks although i find her aswome ( im 12 sue me!) others may find her ok like a normal person ( DAMM U!) But i prefer her as black hair ver others may prefer her as red hair its all on your taste ,most people who fall in love with anime characters fall in love with them in the anime but most pictures that look good are 1s like the bottom left hand because they seem ........ i dont know .
But if you fall in love with someone from an anime it officaly makes you an otaku and if ur like 20 and there like ....lets say 13 it makes you a loli lover.

Most people who are in love with an anime charcter are atracted to ones from animes of good quality ( i mean graphics) because you dont go having a crush on a character because of there looks in lucky star(top right) or somthin ( exc.konata she rocks!) but in animes with better quality graphics .....code geass for example you could fall in love with kallen for looks and presonality

But then theres the factor of 1 anime charcter falling in love with another anime chracter ( see bottom right corner) wich just makes you cry but you dont feel jelous cause your braiin then kicks in saying (Snap out of it !Its fake) .

Im not really gonna go into this any futher cause its hard enough to write already but if you do fall in love with a anime chharcter you know two things 1.you know what to look for in ur GF/BF 2......i forgot it w8 got it ,you must move to japan and look for a person there......i think

So my question is
Have you ever fallen in love with a naime charcter if so wich 1?

I wouldn't say fall in love...but rather wished that there was someone out there in my life with that sort of personality.

Well I like anime and all that and I find the characters cute and interesting but no where ever near falling in love with one. Thats just a little too weird for me, I kind of see people who say stuff like "I only like 2D girls" to have some psychological problems.

We all like that avatar, but I think it should be ecchi marked. 12 year old kids shouldn't see it :P

Then again it's my impression that kids of any age claims to be 18 these days if they are online so I'm not sure it matters with all that ecchi marking >.<

To be honest, if you fall 'in love' with an anime character, you probably haven't felt 'real love' before. I don't think anyone can truly fall in love with a fictional character (anime, manga, tv, movie, book or game characters included)

Fall in love with an anime character...? No, I've liked certain anime character designs but not to the extent of developing serious feelings for them. I like anime and all but certain aspects of life and reality just don't mix with animations. I just prefer real girls over anime girls when it comes to actually falling in love.

*gulps down a bit more alcohol* alright lets see who is on the list... there are actually plenty of character designs that I like. If I were to focus on females only and compress it to only three then it would have to be Nagato Yuki, Misaka Mikoto and Sakurazaki Setsuna.

p.s. I really am drinking alcohol... its light stuff and mixed with something else though.

I have never fallen in love with a fictional character. I usually think that what's 2D should stay 2D and what's 3D should stay 3D.

After reading what you wrote I want to give you a bit of advice. First of all I see a boy who claims to have a crush on a 2D character. It may seem harmless now but if you were my kid (I'm old enough for that to be possible) then I would have a talk with you. The reason is that you are in puperty and now your brain forms a whole lot of stuff that will stick to you for the rest of your life. I would be concerned that this is the first step in ending up like one of those hardcore otaku that we see in Japan and I'm not sure this is such a happy future. Surely it's nice that you spend time on a hobby that you enjoy but it better not make your brain grow up to aim for something impossible.

Another thing is your spelling. I usually don't comment on spelling because I know it can be hard for people to write in a foreign language (English is foreign to me btw). However I will make an exception in this case because English is your native language (or at least the official language where you live). When I were a kid I had problems spelling as well and I didn't think much of it and I assume that it could be the same for you. I was thinking that I can always learn it later. There are so many years until I become a grownup. Lucky for me my mom had a different opinion and forced me to train. The thing is that you need to learn it as a kid or it will become even harder to learn and harder to do later on. Also letting time pass is dangerous as all of a sudden time runs out.

Here is what happens if somebody finishes school with poor spelling: They will likely not be able to get further education because they fail to meet the needed skills for even begin. Then they have to apply for jobs as unskilled. In order to apply for a job you need to write a letter applying for a job and when the HR staff reads that letter, they spend 20 seconds detecting that the person in unskilled and spells bad and they discard the letter. Seriously this is how it works when somebody has to go though maybe 200 or 700 people applying for a job.

On top of this I don't think social security will be as good in the future as it is now. Asia will become stronger and since they can compete well because of no social security they will force Europe to reduce costs or Europe will lose big time. This has nothing to do with the current recession, but it's my prediction of the next say 20 years. If this happens then it will be all about having a good education or you will end up being poor in a way Europe doesn't know today. Also unskilled labour will have their payment greatly reduced because the jobs can be send to say India, Indonesia or China if people want too high payment (we see that already).

I hope you take this as it's meant, which is friendly advice. I hope that I'm overreacting but I fear that I'm not and I just can't sit back and ignore if I notice somebody potientially spoiling their future happiness without realising it. I do know that the spelling issue can be due to a bad school system, but that will not matter when you apply for a job.

I don't understand your reply :(

I'm unsure if you read all of it. Sure it turned out to be longer than I planned and I can't force you to read it but I would recommend it. I will also recommend trying to understand it.

I wrote this because I encountered many people saying "If only I would have studied harder/ done or not done something when I was younger then I would be much happier now but I didn't realise the consequenses". Basically a lot of people regret that they didn't do enough to get the education they wanted and they have to live with it. I noticed some signals in your text and decided to write something because it isn't too late. If you don't want to consider this then do as you like but at least I don't have to keep thinking "if only I had said something to this guy".

False alarm then. Good to know ^_^

However I think you should consider your spelling. If you always spell correctly then you will end up not thinking about spelling. Now you are confusing yourself meaning you have to take care whenever you want to spell correctly. Doing it all the time if you are used to it will not make writing slower. I know a few people who were able to spell, then started to send a lot of SMS's and all of a sudden they had problems telling real spelling and SMS spelling from each other so they had to give up completely on "SMS language" and relearn how to spell. I was serious about people being discarded for jobs due to spelling so it's best not to get this problem in the first place.

Also spelling bad makes it harder to read. I had to put effort into reading what you wrote here. The goal of writing something is to make the reader concentrate on the contents, not how it's written. The more you take focus away from the content, the more likely you are to lose your reader.

I concur, tymmur - it's good advice, especially that about falling in love. I think the grammar part really was overdoing it just a bit though. ^^;

@nintendokid: I'm sure this was a way more serious response than you were intending, especially since it does sound like a parent's spiel. Do bear in mind though that this site is catering to a huge audience, and we have a lot of older people as well as younger people like you - 12, from one of your comments below.

The term "being in love" is used and thrown around in a much more casual way around your age than it is for most of us here. For us it's something really serious, implying something way more than a mere crush or even idol/hero worship, which is why we're all responding like this.

Just so you (hopefully) understand the reasons behind tymmur's comment. I hope I don't sound patronizing to you, because I just turned 19 myself and sounding like a parent is the last thing I want to do. x_x

I don't want to sound like a parent either. However having experienced what the real life is like it can be hard not to sound like a parent when advicing somebody who haven't got the experience.

I don't know if I'm overdoing the grammar/spelling part. I sure hope so. The internet is quite tolerant to poor spelling and grammar, but the older you get the less tolerant schools will be. The job part is for real. A company will hire the best qualified person and not care for those who might do a good job, but failed to write a good letter. They care only if they really lack people and not enough applies for open jobs.

thanks man ,but it really was alot more serious but hey it puts comments on my article : )

I understand all of that and the fact that this site is a host to many ppl from all ages but i am really fond of the japaneese culture and anime thats why im on here, and although 12 sounds young take yr of skool 8th grade seems quite high if u say it,but i keep to my limitations on sites, but anime is ment for evreyone ( i sound like ive been writing a short essay 4 skool)

The words love make the title pull you in more and seem more intresting putting "Have you ever had a crush on a anime charxter" seems less intresting and childish although the concept i was going for was just a crush on characters peronality and dseign(typing in dark cause its 3 :00 and dont wanna get caught ).But the term love is tossed around alot( now its fancy or u wanna pull her/him) but it is serious like when your in love with someone at school at my age people dont understand becuase they treat love as a populatrity scale, but "in love" can mean many thiings but im in love with a girl ( yes 3d amazingly) so i understand the context not just somthin ur sayin to act kool but somthin i mean propley(now im sounding like the parent {in my eyes])

And dont worry u dont sound like a parent : )Parent would sound like HOW DARE YOU POST THIS GET I UR ROOM AND NO TV NOT COMPUTER AND IM BLOCKING THIS SITE!So ur ok

Anime characters? That's actually a bit on the odd side... It's a bit normal to oogle over designs, but... Do realize that the only women you'll find out there that would have the personality of an anime character, are crazy otaku that pretend to be sweet n all that hyper attitude bogus. So really, come out of the bat cave and try to meet someone.

At first I was going to say "No", but now that I read through some of your comments I get what you're saying. And yup, a number of times. ^^ I don't think it's that different from, let's say, teen girls "falling in love" with Edward from Twilight.

I've never felt jealous of another character, however. I ship my favorite characters with others all the time. :P

Well I can't say i've fallen in "love" with any anime characters, but i can name ones i find to be really cute or sexy with amusing personalities. I always liked Asuka from Evangelion, she just needed a hug that was her problem. ^_^ Konata from Lucky Star is just about as adorable as you can get also. Those are 2 of my favorites.

"Fallen in love" is overboard, but I do go all-fanboy-like over Mizunashi Akari from ARIA. ^^; Chances of a girl like her existing in real life? Non-existent. Far too innocent, pure, and happy. Too patient and friendly with everybody.

...and at that moment I realized that my 2D and 3D ideals are quite different. ^^;

I have favorite characters, but I don't really "fall in love" -- these characters don't really exist in real life. :P But off the top of my head, I really like Nagisa from CLANNAD, Tsukasa from Lucky Star, Lala from To-Love Ru, Ink from Moetan... I also like Kanu from Ikki Tousen. In terms of non-anime, I like Koharu and Risa from Morning Musume, Maimi from C-ute, and Risako from Berryz Kobo. And for dramas, I really like Aya's character from 1 Liter of Tears.

I never had a crush or loved any 2D character because I'm unable to do so withou any interaction (likewise I never had a crush or loved any actress, idol, etc) and of course the fact that they don't exist would make it pointless. But I do admire many characters personality and/or looks. And of course there are some characters that are so cute that I wish I could hug them :P.

love? no can't say that i have, but people i know call it an Ani-crush, not really love. its a bit different for girls and guys, in love life we deal with different problems. i have had a few Ani-crushes before, and saying its wrong can only lead to psychological problems and deep depression, cause some people just don't have what it takes to get a real girlfriend/boyfriend. being an Otaku is kinda like having a bad personality quark, most normal girls/guys wouldn't be caught dead with a geeky, nerdy guy/girl. thus they turn into Otaku, which find other ways to make life go by quicker. then normal not as geeky or nerdy people who have a normal life, a wife/husband, kids, they come up and start saying how Otaku are weird, and they need to get a life, and they got psychological problems. all that does is send them into a deeper depression, and it eats away at their self esteem till they can't stand being around people anymore, which then makes it even harder to live a normal life. great since most are computer geeks and can live almost their entire lives inside, and can become recluse practically, and normal people don't need to see them. then the people who walk away smiling thinking oh i hope he takes my advice and gets a life. they don't even realize all they are doing is hurting them on the inside cause they already know all that stuff, they had to live with it every day of their lives hearing it and letting it push them further into the darkness until they are alone at 38 years old sitting in a singles apartment in the dark with all their anime, games, figures, computer stuff. and you know, after they die it starts all over with another kid who was unfortunate enough to get the same personality quark and history repeats it self. its true everyone has problems growing up, but some people live hard lives. i was practically poor growing up, I'm quite girlie cause i grew up with no father, why? cause he was a child molester that raped my sister... i grew up in a Narcotics lab, every woman in my family was a prostitute, every guy a worthless nothing which mooched off the woman in the family, then here i am a guy who smiles and tries to make the best of everything even when i started school in the 4th grade and couldn't read till i was in the 5th grade, i got teased about that a lot thanks very much i don't need to get teased anymore. you know what though i am actually enjoying life, all this was just to show, you can't give advice to people you don't know anything about. well there ya go, maybe it will make people feel better knowing there are others who feel the same way, peace out.

i don't really fall for the character. what i fall for is the attitude and sometimes wish that there was someone like that in real life.

I've only ever really liked 2 anime characters and they were Chihiro Shindou from ef and then Hinagiku Katsura from Hayate no Gotoku. Sorta over Chihiro still got a place in me heart for her but I can honestly say I'm more obsessed with Hinagiku right now and probably will stay that way. Hinagiku image folder usually grows about 40 pictures per day.

What's 2D love good for?

No seriously, 13 episodes? 24 episodes? Then you have some withdrawals, then you move on...next season.

Yeah, I think we tend to "love" an anime character because the aforementioned embodies the qualities that we seek in real people.

Take for example, let's say Nagisa Furukawa. Ever since my girlfriend showed me Clannad I've gotten a crush on her. Why? She's nice, sweet, caring, pure hearted, understanding, and always stands by Tomoya's side.

Who wouldn't want that in a real girl right? Personality wise, i could almost say that she and my gf are almost the same.

Otaku and hikikomori
don't really remember my 1st. maybe from games rather than from anime. (which is also 2d!...maybe 3dcg). currently is ranka lee from macross frontier. others include kagami from lucky star, robin from witch hunter robin, kitchiri and kafuka from zetsubou sensei, vita from nanoha, etc etc. also from games : lenneth valkryie, tear from tales of the abyss, renoa (ff8, forgot her name's spelling)

like what alot people say here, this is NOT LOVE!!! it is merely admiration for the personality or the voice of the chara. but for people who never experience true love (3d ppl) before, this ani-crush is very special kind of experience. those who had real love before would find it hard to understand. is a matter of point of view. my POV is not the same as yours POV doesn't mean any of us is wrong.

I think it's would not only be weird to love a 2D character, it would also be a one way love. You will never be able to tell her and when you see the next episode you might see her fall in love with somebody else.

I have seen 2D girls where I consider them cute and wants to see more of them but it's nothing compared to what love is really about. I think people loving 2D girls either have no idea of what real love is or really need help.

More often than not (ronery)
But I don't think 'being in love' with an anime character is the correct words to use in my situation.
My love for 2D characters are different from the 3D ones.
I don't quite know how to explain this though..
