Cat Cafe

When you are bored of going to cafes at Akiba that have maids or pajama girls, you can always go to Neko Jalala - a cafe where you can look at and play with cats.
Costs 500 yen for 30 mins to feast your eyes on the feline residents of the cafe - drink not included.
Akibablog has more pics of the cafe.
What the visitors of the cafe probably dont know is that cats can be seen in neighborhood streets and can be looked at for free.
Not only can you be charged to be slapped by a pajama girl, you can now also be charged for looking at a cat. I'm wondering whats next.

I don't know, maybe I'm such a sucker for cats, but I would LOOVE~ to do this. I absolutely adore cats, but I wouldn't be able to own one in Japan (I mean, I'll be having a small apartment with tons of fragile figures...), so I think this is a great solution.

Do you get to play and hug the cats while you're there?

Plus, I thought there would definately be some Neko-Mimi girls working there, but it looks like there are none. :P

I hate cats, these little buggers are making lots of crap around my house, if I had a air pressured shotgun I would be shooting a lot of kitties around here.

Just spray them with water, that way they dont have to get hurt, but they will avoid you. I dont know for the life of me why anyone would pay to be near cats. EVER.

Yeah, waterguns are the best weapons against cats. Wonder if it works on lions though.

Don't know much about cats, eh?

See cats, yes. Pet them, no. Rare is the cat that will allow itself to be petted or even approached.

On the other hand, a cat cafe cat WILL socialize with you (confession: I've actually been to a cat cafe in Kichijoji and hey, it's relaxing).

If it were like a normal cafe where they charged you for the food and there happenned to be cats around and cat-themed wall decorations and cat-costumed girls serving, I'd definitely pass by in the event I came to Japan. More so than a Maid Cafe. But if it really is 500 yen (around 200 pesos here, just short of daily minimum wage) to look at the cats for half an hour, then, no thanks. I've got a great colony of cats who one day decided to set up shop in our garden.

Here in Taibei there are quite a few internet cafes that draw customers by keeping cats around. One has to pay for drinks and food, but the cats are free.

Eventhough we know we can still looks & play with stray cats in our neighbourhood, we still went to cat cafe or cat playground when we were in Tokyo ^^; cuz we're a cat lover & really wanna hug cats (clean ones / not stray). I find Neko Jalala quite expensive though cuz you pay that much for only 1/2 hour.

I visited Nekobukuro (not a cat cafe, but a cat playground) at Ikebukuro, Tokyu Hands highest level & paid 1000 yen (for a couple) can play & have fun with the cats for more than 1 hour (or i think as long as you want).
