A survey of 500 ladies in thier twenties tell us where they do not want to be taken on a date to...1. Pachinko or other gambling related place - 56% 2. Any location is fine - 11% 3. Manga Cafe - 9.8% 4. Love Hotel - 7.8% 5. Beel Bowl restaurant - 5% 6. Game Arcades - 3.6% 7. Karaoke - 2.2% 8. Camp (?!) - 1.8% 9. Ramen restaurant - 1.4% 9.(tie) Excursion trip - 1.4%Where did you go to on your first date or where do you plan to go on your first date? My first date with my wife was a day out by the river Thames on a sunny day. Image of the lovely Miyabi on a date with you via Prima Stella.
I went to a movie on my first date. Can't say it was a good idea, but it wasn't to bad. lol
same here! ^^
Karaoke! Should be where every lady wants to go!
pachinko parlors? hmmm..I never wouldve thought that gambling places would be recommended so high.
Sorry - can't tell if it's sarcasm. But in case it's not, it's an inverse list - pachinko parlors are the lowest recommended.
Actually, it's where they don't want to go. Which means that they absolutely don't want to go there :P
a picnic, since its snowing in vancouver...not that bad for scenery
A love hotel....very classy place for a first date.
I noticed that too. I don't know what impressed me more, that this option was on the list or that it made it into the top 5.
awwww how sweet :) I like this post :P it reminds me of some sweet memories about 5 years back lol!
Don't really remember my first date - ex-girlfriend and I were friends before hand and it was more gradual than anything else. Most of our first dates were to the mall though - just walking around the shopping centre talking. Every now and then we went to the theatre on the first floor.
I tried movies, restaurants, cafes... It's time to try something more extreme i guess ^^ Beel Bowl?? beef maybe....
first time was with my friend so didn't even realize that i was already on a date until she said it and confessed to me
Movie and then went strolling on the mall. Arcade was a given as we waited for the movie screentime.
no gfs yet.. but if i do, i would bring her to a river side.. like singapore's clark quay..
lol singpaore not much places to go anyways. always go shopping centre so boooring
Actually there are loads of places - Botanic Gardens, Marina Bay, Mt Faber, Pulau Ubin and lots more. We are small but there are many surprises : ) ...
I also went to a movie, usually good play to let the girl pick the movie, and ladies go ahead and pick whatever you want most of us guys really aren't watching it anyways. ^^; On the down side, it's hard to have a quality conversation and "pass the M&M's" doesn't count. lol If you went for coffee afterward, that helps. If I could do it all over again I would have picked something else to do, but all in all it wasn't a bad date.
I can understand why most of those locations are on the list but why is Karaoke on there? I'm pretty sure couples/groupies go there all the time. Usually the girls suggesting the idea to.
It's kinda embarrassing to karaoke during first date.. don't you think? Not everyone would like to pour their lungs out on the first outing ^^ Worst of all, if you can't really sing...
hmm... maybe it depends on the crowd.
hahaha I don't think anyone would want to go to a gambling place for a date.
so only 7.8% of women dont want to go to a love hotel for a date?what has this world come to
A love hotel is a place where guys and girls can be together without family members spying on them. This means that while eroge tells about one activity going on, the real life love hotels are somewhat different. You can decide on just sitting there playing playstation or watching DVD if you like. The main idea is just to get rid of parents/siblings, not to do ecchi stuff. At least that's what I have been told. I have never actually been to a place like that.
Considering those numbers add up to 100%, each woman was only allowed to vote once. Gambling is worse than love hotels in this case. I can sort of understand why some might not mind going to a love hotel (particularly after considering tymmur's reply) but I'm rather hard-pressed to imagine a woman who would want to go to pachinko for a first date. It makes even more sense when you consider that obsessive gamblers are apparently the only kind of men worse than anime otaku, according to Japanese women anyway... ( http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2008/12/15/anime-otaku-second-most-loathed-by-women/ )
Well, that's good for the anime lovers! XD
Pachinko place for a date? Hahahahahaha!
I wouldn't mind the Manga cafe, the arcade or the karaoke. Would be fun.
In that case I will take you to a karaoke place. My singing skills will likely convince you that it might not be such a good idea :P
some of those answers are kind of obvious of course, especially love hotel haha. but im really surprised about the 11% "any location is fine" . come on really!? my first date was to the prom. it was awesome. going to the prom with absolutely no dating experience... i really had no idea what to do. i had to ask my relatives for advice. sooo embarassing. but it was a good memory
What is Beel Bowl?
Hmm.. it was very gradual cus she was a friend. But the first actual one was to a movie. turned out her friends were stalking us from the back of the theatre =.= but it went pretty well ^^"
Ahhh...nice souvenir^^ I remember my first date was at a theme park ^^
They must have surveyed mental patients.
"Date"? What is this "date" that you're talking about? I've been on one of these so called "dates"...
I've NEVER been on one of these so called "dates"... This is why we need the ability to edit our comments.
You beat me!!!!
What's a date?? Seriously...never been on one >>
A date is when a guy and a girl engage in an activity that they acknowledge as being a "date". For example, going out to the movies with a girl is not necessarily a date. I have had this experience personally. I took a girl to a movie with the intention of having it be a date, and she never considered it to be a date, so it wasn't a date. I am still unsure as to whether or not I had a date with this one girl. I asked her out to dinner, and we went late at night. Of course, we never made it clear one way or the other. Most people I know think that it was indeed a date; the only complication is that she had/has been dating another guy.
so this could probably be interpreted to say that there is only 7.8% chance the girl doesn't want to be taken to a love hotel. Those are some pretty good odds. Better gambling than pachinko if you ask me. =D
still waiting and planning i guess
the best plans usually takes a little longer I guess...
Went to her room on our first date. The next morning was rather bright, if I recall correctly... ^^;
on the first date!? (-_-).oO(you sly dog you...)
I spent the night with a girl before I went on a date with one.
(O.o) wow, what the eff... now im curious haha
My first *real* date was to Cafe Rio. LOL
That is so awesome.
When I was dating my middle-high school sweetheart we really didn't make dates alone. We often went with friends and my first dates were lunches, dinners, and taking her to football games at our school. Latter on the school spirit died out so it wasn't that appealing anymore.
Camping? that's exotic, unless both couple are adventurer~~~~~
i've been on 1, but it was completely unofficial and unplanned. standard manga style scenario: several of my friends (7) were planning to go out one night to just hang in the city and everyone couldn't make it last minute.....except for 2. Me and her. i think it might of had been a set up by the others. all their calls all came within 5mins.
I want friends like that :/
lol at #2 ^^ btw, what's worng with camping trip..? tiresome? me never been to any dates though..
Camping trip = good for couples who know each other well. Bad for first dates. Who knows what the guy/girl might do outside of the watching eyes of modern society. People don't necessarily hear you scream out in the middle of the woods.
Beel bowl? o.o Is it Beef bowl or something? I haven't had my first date yet, sadly ^^;
Same as here... Never had my first date as well... Well.. in our country also did't hv much such place :P
which country are you from again? ^^ are you sure???
Reminds me of when Keitaro tried to take Naru to a beef bowl restaurant on their first date and got clobbered in Love Hina. Not a good place for a date but great if you are in a hurry or about to go on your train trip.
ha ha. that scene was awesome.
going to a movie is probably a safe first date. second date would be in a motel. LOLZ XD
No second date would be in bed, not in a motel.
The beach
Her pantsu.
^_^ a slap to the face is what ya will get in return
My first date was on our house. Instantly, my girl called it a date after a day. LOL We, ate my cook which was a chicken with tofu thingy, sorry I forgot the name. Then, stories came up, that so much our jaws got tired. Then showed my items. And that's about it. LOL
you showed her your "item" on your first date??? so daring ^^;
The word "date" is so foreign to me...
ditto
I don't count going to the movies with 3 girls a date. Especially since I didn't like any of them. Bike riding with a girl doesn't really count either since she really was nothing more than a friend in my opinion. So no. Haven't had a date yet. ^_^;
married.. so i hope ive been on a first date... either that or a shotgun is stabing me in the side... first date... guess if one read the textbook definition.. i took her to a drag race... :D non technical... her house.. just as bad as tenrou.. :D
I have no clue where I would go on a date...
I would definitely not want to go to Pachinko for a first date! Also, going to a love hotel on the first date is pretty sleezy I think . . . But Karaoke or Arcade are places I WOULD like to go for a date!
agree
I have no idea..>_< And Japanese women sure hate gamblers..
lol camp? XD
I think the Pachinko idea would just weird and tacky, but that's just my opinion ^^; Hmm, Arcade dates are fun... its a bit awkward if you beat your date at a game though XD If you really care for the person and material items aren't really your thing, then going anywhere would be fun ^__^
First date... does the middle school graduation dance count?
I dont think so. Graduation dance its like mandatory so it doesnt count as a date.
Girl like that, I'd take her home to meet the parents:p
I love Arcades, Manga Café's and Restaurants so of course I would like to bring a girl there It really really depends, I mean you cant bring a girl to a arcade when she is not even interested into it also bringing a girl to a arcade only works if you have that relaxed fun relationship which may grow to a lovers one its not like you can say, "yeah lets have date... at the arcade" =DD sadly... (I want a gaming girl...)
hey this looks like one of the girls u used for your 2D break during the blogging workshop am i right? ('~')
How does the list work? Did they choose those choices from a list or write them down? You could easily forget things that you think would be obvious if you had to write them down. Or at least I would. If I was a girl, the idea of going to a pachinko parlor as a date wouldn't even cross my mind.
I was 13 on my first date. Was at Disneyland Paris on a school trip (higher maths... dont ask ^^;) and met this lovely french girl. Lots of rides and lots of laughter. *reminisces*
I wouldn't mind karaoke or the game arcades on the first date xD But there's no way I'd go for 1, 4 or 8 on any date =/
Where I take a girl on the first date usually depends on what I think she might like. Of course, that in of itself takes a little bit of effort, but only after she even agrees of course. ^^
Pachinko or other gambling related place for the date? Hmm, would not have guessed that...
My first date was actually just walking around the city and spending time in parks along the way. Just talking and chatting and getting to know one another.
I guess those sexy Japanese salary men chain smoking, sweating, and bent over pachinko machines isn't every girls dream date. Note to oneself: Cross off gambling den from first date little black book.
going for eat after a campus activity tho, and that's the 1st time i've known her :P
My latest "first date" was to a café, simple yet elegant. My very first "first date" was weird. Started out with us walking around in the city we lived in, and we ended up in the hospital! No no, nothing bad happened, the girl in question had a friend who was hospitalized and we went to visit her. :)
That was quick. Usually it takes at least 9 months to get from first date to the hospital ^^
Pachinko??=.= What kind of ladies did they gove to take the survey? they all sound 30th to me...pachinko...whats so fun about pachinko anyway???
Lessee... Our first "date" was at a local mall, where we bought each other a few gifts.
No first date yet....But i hope to make a good impression once i do...
Aww I don't know if it could be considered as first date, but the first time me and my bf went out to meet (without dating intentions, just meeting as friends - we met online, but through my friends X3 ), we went to a park. It was cloudly that day, that it made the park walk look like Resident Evil/Silent Hill adventure thought lolol XD but it was kinda nice and fun. ^o^ And then, when we started dating, we used to go to parks, museums, zoo, aquariums, etc. lol~ XD I guess that it's considered dating if a guy and a girl goes out with the clear intention of seeing each other as more than friends. ^.^;
my first date(over 10 yrs ago), we went to dinner and a movie.
I'm surprised library didn't hit the top ten. Girls would easily be bored being in a library. Nothing goes on over there. Never had a date by the way. Don't have the time anymore. Besides, the economy is bad at this point. If life's a "Tokimemo" game, places like the library, the park and the karaoke box will increase your chances of getting me into a blushing state. Places like the amusement park and the ski lounge will increase your chances of getting a bomb. Of course, I'd end up being Yoshio instead.
Yeah Pachinko palors arent the most romantic of places to have your first date. :)
Pachinko palours, how romantic, lol. Anyway, sorry to go off topic, but does Danny or anyone know who the gorgeous looking girl in the pic Danny posted is?
I expected pachinko parlors, manga cafés, and game arcades to be in the list, but I didn't think that karaoke would be there. Is it really so bad to drop at karaoke bar on a date? You know, it could be kinda romantic, alone in the karaoke box, singing together, am I right?
Location for a first date.... good question. I guess it really depends on the girl. I know a location where I wouldn't mind spending time with a girl. There is a forest near here and in a clearing there is a lake. You have to do a bit of hiking to get there and there are no signs, so you have to know it to get there. This means that you can have it all to yourself ^^ It's great at spring and summer time. I'm not sure it's an ideal first date location though.
still single and no gf :( the only date i know is the one you see in a calendar.
Oh, that's good - 92.2% of women wouldn't mind going on a date to a love hotel... joke ^^
I went to a American mix with Chinese uptown restaurant that was very clean, and romantic. Dimmed lights and everything. It was a restaurant in Guangzhou, China. My wife still says it too expensive.
I went to a shopping mall on my first date. She told me at the end that she wanted to be my girlfriend and I laughed because I thought she was joking. Three and half years happy now :3
I don't think my husband and I ever went on any real dates...just to the mall etc.
Aww.. poor thing. Why?
The results of this poll have left me in despair...though I had to click no as well >_>
The DatingSpot really depends on the girl in my opinion.It can be great with the one girl while it turns out disastrous with another. I wouldnt recommend LoveHotels in any case XD
mmm my first date was a walk to like... 8 parks of the area, it went well cause we get to talk a lot, and werent distracted in any other thing except us. =D
Wouldn't mind a manga cafe, karaoke, or any kind of restaurant... But currently my ideal first date would include Haagen Dazs. Gotta take advantage of my ability to not get fat. :3
I haven't have my first date T_T. When I do have one I think I will take her out to a movie then dinner after that we go strolling in the park or a mall.
First date was to the movies with my current girlfriend. Unfortunately, can't do much else due to her strict parents, but was planning something for christmas maybe. XP
Maybe it's healthy not to rush things so strict parents isn't the worst you can encounter. Besides once they realise that they can trust you (that is, if they can :P) then I guess the restrictions aren't that severe anymore. Remember that the most valuable you can have is children and you don't want anything bad to happen to them. I consider it a good sign that the parents wants to protect their daughter. Remember sometimes you meet the one and only before you realise it so upsetting the parents of any girlfriend is a stupid idea. I wish you the best of luck and happiness ^^
Gambling I can totally understand--not that conducive to social interaction. Actually, the same could be argued for arcades if there's no DDR or minigolf around. But as for me, if there's DDR and/or minigolf, I personally am so there. =P Love hotel would be pretty bad for a first/early date, and camping you really have to know what you're doing for it to not suck. I don't understand the objections with the manga cafe or the restaurants though. I mean, c'mon! There's food involved! Don't tell me they can really say no to food? And the manga cafe sounds very entertaining. . . .but what the f***k is an excursion trip? *clueless*
I don't remember much of my first. I think we went to a movie and to an arcade. Then I went to that person's house for dinner.
AWESOME! Now I know that I'm not the only one who is ronery! *Cries* ^^;
LOL camp..!? not a bad idea actually ^^;
I don't think it's a good idea for a first date or rather it's a bad idea unless you know her/him. Imagine going camping on a blind date ^^; My dad took my mom camping. Since they were together 24 hours a day they got to know each other way better and my dad was sure that he had met the woman of his dreams. It would appear that camping is a great idea in some cases, but I wouldn't call it a date. A date has a somewhat shorter timespan.
I can date nice Japanese girls in Venice :D
Lonely back then, now and possibly in the future so I can't answer that question x_x From the polls, I can say that I don't like the 56% of the 500 women they interviewed. Gambling? Pfft... -_-
Anybody remmeber Taxi Driver where he takes the girl on a date to a porn theatre 0_0 .
LOL Never seen that but I guess she would prefer a love hotel over a porn theater :P
I don't date right now because my studies are like fetters. They chain me up to the school and thew away the key.
I can not remember too many of the details. i just had a weekend job. Back in high school it was simple jsut dinner and some mall hopping.
Gambling related place? Hmm, I'll keep that in mind..as for the Ramen shop, thats where I would like to eat ^^
Love hotel is mandatory ! That, or no date at all. ;-)
don't have girlfriend for now ^^
mmm...the mall :D
