Why do these shelves look so sad n empty? Because one of the Kotobukiya stores in Akiba had a closing down sale. Due to the 90% off, they managed to get rid of a load of figures and Gundams. I wish I knew about this closing down sale ToT. The Kotobukiya and some newly released figures were not discounted though and am guessing that they will be shipped to their shop in the Radio Kaikan building. Kotobukiya by policy dont discount their own products as they would receive complaints from other sellers who stock Kotobukiya figures. Images via Akibaos.
O_O OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!! MY ARMORED CORES T-T and the other plastic models i wanted to buy T-T nothing in the shelves...................v-v
90% Closing Sale?? That's the biggest discount I've seen in my life for figures, gundams, etc.
That's the biggest sale I've ever seen, period. It's almost free. I can just imagine the crowd. I wonder if there were any fights that broke out?
90% off!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i wish i was in akihabara during that day ToT
let me join in... 90 freakin % off??! Total figure collector's wet dream... ToT and here we are paying full price or more to import them here in the states lol...
Oh man, 90% off. Imagine the savings...
90% off?! Fudge! If the figure is like 5000 yen then after the discount it'll be... Really cheap!
Really cheap and great if you want to make yourself a profit. ^^;
I live in the Australian "Outback". The nearest Anime/ Gundam/ Figure store is over 500km away so i hardly get to sales. I have no Credit Card either so buying online or by phone is a negatory. As for me ever getting to Akihabara it is about as real as if it ever snowed here. ToT Can someone please buy me something from Akihabara? LOL- you can stay with me for free if you ever come down under in exchange!
Geez, do you at least like where you live? Australia seems like a place I'd wanna visit someday, it always has seemed so neat to me.
wow! 90% off O.O i wonder what that place looked like during the sale i'm thinking the chaos that WonderFest has but confined in a small space lolz XDDD
Holy cow!! 90% discount!! By the way, why is the store closing down?
because they have a new store? ('~')
bankrupt?
@gordon, Hmm, I don't know, but Danny didn't seem to imply that the store in Radio Kaikan is a new store, or is it actually quite new? ^^ @lin-da-kenobi Maybe the store is not getting enough customers? ^^
Akihabara = lots of concurrence between shops. Maybe this one was not well situated? Lacked good advertisement? Put too heavy prices? Sold products no one cares about? Was a victim of a conspiracy? Who knows?
Radio Kaikan has two kotobukiya stores - one opened last year-ish on the first floor.
my bets on moving to a new location. transferring all of the old stock wont be cheap so its better to just give them away.*oops, meant sell them on discount*
Sometimes i really wonder why my interests and my birthplace are an entire continent apart...
Me also wonders why... ToT
Fortunately, we actually are on the same continent as Japan. Eh... but i guess that's not helping still.
LOL you're right >_< It must be that Japan is so far away while we want to be there so much that it feels as if Japan is on a different continent.. ^^
(sob sob) i wonder the same thing buuu!
let me join in as well. I feel i have been robbed of my birthright.(metaphorically speaking)
I wanna cry =.='
Holy shi- A fire sale with stuff I actually want lawl.
There goes all the Armored Cores. Shops round' my place probably won't do this, not even with a 10% discount.
I know just how you feel danny! A music/movie store near my had a similar sale going on (they were going out of business) and all the merchandise was about 90% off as well. Unfortunately, just like you, i was unaware of this circumstance until way after the merchandise was sold out... which was a pain in the butt, especially considering that there were many anime dvds to be had. Luckily, this was around Christmas time and one of my friends bought me a couple anime dvds for cheap as a present :3 Blast it all, and the damn affair of being oblivious to these situations!
I am guessing this is the one in the Kitazawa Building, along Chuo-dori. If it is - can't think of another Kotobukiya store in Akiba - it's probably because their recent expansion in the Rajikan made it too much of a loss maker.
I wished I was there but all seemed too late now *sob* 90% is as good as giving it away for free man.
That's sad to see an otaku store closing like that, but even sadder to come too late when there is a huge sale like this...
This is a time I wish that I live in Japan!!!!!!!!!! I wanna be there!!!!!!
oh you didn't know about the sale ... i wanted to blog about it but i forgot .. I think i read about it earlier on Akibablog or moeyo
I guess just being in Akihabara doesn't guarantee sales. But I don't understand why they had two Kotobukiya store in the first place and I never knew about the existence of this one(only knew the one in Radio Kaihen).
damn man 90% discount!! =0 the owner must've been really desperate to sell all of 'em, maybe bankrupt huh?!
90% off for most items. Great way to attract customers and have them buy out everything before closing but thats losing profit and such such such. Wish I was there...
Such a beautiful moment and yet so far from my reach.
Hehe, would have loved to have been there myself just to witness the stampede of otaku raiding the store for all it's worth. Of course, I would've liked to pick up a bargain myself but, judging from the aftermath, I doubt I would have succeeded! XD
I think I'll stick by buying stuff at normal prices, without the need to push through a crowd to get to the register ^^'
i hope when i get to akiba to be some little nice stores to buy in stuff....
Not only does Japan have the stores, but they have the sales! I'm completely... jealous...-_- 90% is too good to be true! Only in Japan I guess.
I wish there'd be something like that here in my country T_T 90% off is quite unbelievable but there it is!
Unbelievable T_T ... 90% ? In Germany, i can only dream of this ... I'm envious of the lucky ones, who was there at the right time.
一折! That's pretty desperate for sure. Too bad once they happen they end way too quickly, therefore you have to be very lucky or very alert to have noticed this at the right time.
Something tells me it's not 90% off everything probably like the already-cheap, old, stuff.
i wonder how many lives were lost in this crazy sale. ('~')
I'd imagine the place to be a lot more messy and hectic after a 90% off sale what with all the otaku fighting over the stuff and all.
90% discount... life imitates art.
I wonder how long the queue was before the sale.
I... Wish I was there. I mean, the largest discount there is here is 50% on books, and that's with coupons and a membership card, and only for books. Non-otaku books, alas.
waaaaa, 90% off? 1st time see this kind of discount....
The most discount around here is 10-20%, and the nett prices are still higher than Japan retail. Somehow, I've got a bad feeling I should have ran out of Narita Airport and made a beeline for Akihabara when I was transitioning through Tokyo last week.
I envy those lucky people who managed to get whichever figure they wanted at that 90% discount. Wished I was there too!! uguu~
omg ;-; 90% discount~ i wish i was there T_T
