The biggest car news in Japan for the past few months has been the Nissan GT R - it always seems to be on the news. The folks over at Nihon Car get to test drive the machine by speeding around the streets of Tokyo. Theres a video footage on the site too where they shoot against some Tokyo backdrops. I still prefer the Fair Lady though - I want an orange one to make into an itasha ^^;
Damn, the texture of the cars looks so smooth... If I had a car like that, I'll be harassing it with my cheeks...
Which ones? Ahem, please forget what I just said! ^^;
LOL, my face! The cheeks on my face!!
Yeah, I would have felt that rubbing your a** on the car would be somewhat wrong, or even a bit offensive... ^^;;; Yes, yes, I was kidding, again (I'm such a pestering soul, I know).
i already started saving money for that car... hopefully i can be driving it in 2010! /drools... /sigh the toyota supra is coming back too TT.TT
woo if i am rich i would going to get one
No offense, but they both have odd front sides... Is that for aerodynamic purposes? My pinky says no, but hey.
Skyline series has always been more about advanced automotive engineering than aesthetics. This look is already a great leap from its traditional boxy frame. What ppl love about GT-Rs are is not necessarily the look, but the performance of its techincally superior turbo charged engine, and the immense raw horsepower it is capable of producing when modified. Hold on to your nuts, or they'll get left behind.
I see... Thanks. But what about the ecological part?
^^ Lots more pics and info here: . http://www.supercars.net/cars/3842.html . And according to the said website: "Environmental technologies include extensive work to create an U-LEV certification in Japan for the 3.8-liter twin turbo engine and reduced levels of volatile organic compound for materials used in the car." Also, for a sports car, it can stretch 21 miles per gallon (im guessing thats city, but supercars.net was not specific enough about it), So I guess that's a good thing. ^^ I personally like the "Double Clear Coat", and "anti-chipping" features of the car. (My car's paint job is all scratched and etched by shopping market carts T_T *sniffle*)
Thanks daijin-kun for the insight. *Reads article* Sweet! As what could be expected from Nissan. *Jaw drops after seeing the price tag*
GT-R desu ne.. hmm, can an old Toyota AE86 beat this car? It seems to be doable in Initial D. ^^ Ah! By the way, this reminds me of another good thing of living in Japan. Cars are half prices than in other countries. No 100% luxury stuffs import tax.
its 180% here :(
Let's not base the car's performance in a video game. Let's just say that the guys at Top Gear liked this one better than the Dodge Viper, Corvette Z06 and Porsche 911 Turbo that they tested prior to this.
danny when you buy this car and turn it into a itasha . take pictures of it so i can see
No kidding. This is some serious metal. It had even won the hearts of the people in Top Gear; giving it the Top Gear Supercar award in 2007. Can imagine the engineers taking this car apart in their labs to study its superior performance. XD Long live the Godzilla!
Top Gear is awsome. I like watching it haha! This car, Top Gear made it sound awsome. I really want to test drive it too! XD
TAS was full of modded GTR-35. This GTR is serious business, as its the 1st GTR produces after Japan lifted the bhp ban.
Though this R35 GTR is a superb machine, or should I say beast? I'll always be impervious to the R32 GTR.
Daaaarn~~ where's my NFS underground CD?? After seeing this post I just remember that I always playing NFS with this car in drag race mode ^^
Hopefully I will own the Nissan GTR one day. It really is the successor to the Skyline R34 which was an amazing car aswell, especially the NISMO Z tuned version.
In singapore the Fair Lady is relatively popular, and it gets it fair share of its front being dented from hitting a road bump.
saw the 2009 Nissan GT-R at the detroit auto show, it looked really really nice, too bad i couldn't get inside and take it for a test drive -__- at first i was confused because there wasn't even a crowd near the thing unlike the ford area and the mustang, still it was good news for me because i got to take some nice pictures
Wow danny also likes the Fair Lady? It's one of my dream cars, though I'll prefer it in silver/metallic blue custom colours and at the same time made into an itasha. I like orange too though (my room's current paintjob).
Ahh! The Nissan GTR... Too bad they drop Skyline from its name... Anyway, I want one!
Would love to have one. Maybe I could get a used version within 5 years if my calculations are right. While it's a bargain considering its competition, $70000 is still a lot for a new nissan. Used is the way to go for me. I just hope I can find a good one for less than $50K in 5 to 6 years.
Drool... fantastic car and I can't wait to see what they do with it on Top Gear heck I would even settle for Fifth Gear as well. Probably wont see one IRL for some time though. The Fair Lady is a nice choice too. My own personal taste though would be to get a used Porsche 911 instead.
Ugh, Fifth Gear no. Fifth Gear is full of rubbish and the hosts flirting with eachother while going over specifications. They had a Civic Type R race a motorcycle on a track. What made it more silly, the host driving the CTR was trying to drift the corners. Top Gear doesn't do garbage like that. Top Gear is exactly what it is, top.
The GTR's lines and vent designs were influenced by Gundam ^_^
damn =o! that's one hell of a car looks really nice & i bet the price'll look nice too hehe
Does anybody miss the old R33 and R34 type II's like I do?
are skyline and GTR the same? well i seen skyline GT but ya... soo... anyone wanan explain?
diff car but same production company ^^ i tested the 350z once, vs the rx8, just for fun. rx8 wins hand down i terms of performance and driving fun. 350z seems a bit... beasty under the hood. the car kinda fights you for control, i kid you not. the new gtr is nice, but i seriously miss the classic boxy shape of the skyline. personally, if it has to be a nissan... i think i'll get the sylvia, s15. now that's a beauty.
crap, bad reading comprehension on my part. i mean same car. gtr is the current production model. >.< sorry to mislead you.
Seth, you have to realize that the 350z has more low end torque then the RX8 due to engine design. Rotaries don't make much torque, they just rev high. The 350z also makes 276HP naturally aspirated out of a V6 configuration which is about 240whp to the wheels. Whereas the RX8 makes 246HP(?) and gets around 200whp to the wheels. The 350z is going to come with control assists to keep you from spinning out and whatnot, the RX8 also has it but the "fight for control" will be more apparent on the stronger machine. Just turn it off and it's all gravy.
ah, thanks V1lt R. i guess i learn something about these two cars today. i like cars, but i'm not that savvy about them ^^" thanks for clearing that up for me. it was a spur of the moment to drive into the nissan and mazda showroom to check them out actually, haha.
In California where the freeways are limited to 65mph/104kph, it's kind of pointless to own a really fast car like the GT-R unless you go to a track occasionally. The Fairlady would be a better proposition. It's less than half the price of the GT-R with all the performance most people will ever need. While the Z name may not have as much zing as the GT-R's, it still has plenty of history behind it. Can't wait for the next gen Z34 to show up. With all attention diverted to the GT-R, Nissan saw it fit to delay the Z34's launch.
R35 GT-R really is a big thing in Japan. I think it's been now two or three Option magazines full of stories about new GT-R. And when looking at the photos from TAS 08, it's not difficult to see what car is going to be the new tuner favourite. There were new GT-Rs from most of the big companies, and GReddy had already tuned up the engine too. So, I'm already waiting those cars to hit time attack events. I like the new GT-R, though I like even more Japanese sports cars from 80s and 90s. It's a bit sad, however, that it's not called Skyline anymore, but Nissan just wanted to keep Skyline family a bit more simpler and cheaper and make GT-R unique sports car to fight against big European models like Porsche 911. Now just have to wait, that we'd get GT-R here in Europe too.
this car is legend. but its way too expensive here. our gov slapping 300% tax T_T. i will costs around 1 million malaysian ringgit if u buy it from the dealer. but the grey imports will sell it way cheaper here. guess i will stick to superbikes then...
Holly HELL! ~100% Markup on US GT-Rs. Just read this article on the possible markups seen at US dealers. It's just insane. http://exhaustnote.com/2008/01/30/dealers-to-charge-up-to-129000-on-the-nissan-gt-r/
hey all those cars are nice, but me id rather drive my 65 galaxy with the bulletproof 289!
Evo X ftw rally red with white wheels
I have always dreamed of owning this car, us retail value of $70,000 though. still im gonna try to save up for a down payment, hope to be driving it by 2012
I'll take the '05 subaru Impreza or the '98 impreza coupe
i heard honda is developing the new nsx to beat the GTR.
