Outside our house getting some fresh n cold evening air. Interesting to see how more n more Japanese folks are putting up lights outside their house. We got these lights online from http://www.rakuten.co.jp/ - they are set to turn on when it gets dark - the timer unit is separate and also from Rakuten.
It's always calming for me to see a house with X-mas lights.
Wow- those look nice! I also want to decorate my house this year- preferably with blue lights instead of traditional white ones.
nice, I love how the sky is still visible in the image
Love the Lumix - low shutter speed.
hmm... have to learn how to do that on the lumix. ^^;
Tv mode - Set to any time longer than a second Is it the similar on a Lumix as it is on a Canon?
hmmm... that probably translate to S on the Lumix.
Something you can't get from expensive digital camera that works like crap.
you are joking right? those are better in such matters. long exposure time = slow shutter speed. if you not joking, please give an example why expensive cameras are crap.
I'm not refering to the one that Danny use. I'm refering to my 7 MP Olympus camera. Cost me RM 570 and it still doesn't give the best result. *scream in anger*
Same here... got a Nikon for 700 and it seems to be no better than an upgraded phone camera:<
I'm intrigued by most of the photos i've seen from Japan, streets and buildings looks like a miniature. Is that due to the effect of the lenses or what?
It might be the effect of using the wide-angle lens. I'd certainly like one ^^
Thats cool! That the timer means it goes on when its dark. Mucho clever. I wish we had more xmas lights on my house.... I miss mine at my window.....
Christmas lights are always fun and a cheerful display. I don't think a ever hung up lights at my place during the holidays. I usually go back to my parents house during this time of year and help them hang up the lights.
I love Christmas lights. A lot of people around here are switching to LEDs, because they use way less electricity, and they tend to give more vibrant colors when lit.
I like that blue^^
Whoa, looks like neon lights. <3
Christmas light always cheerful and make me calm. and that photo is very nice... Nice Shot!!! ~Be Kawaii~
very christmasy
nice lights. the amount of criss-crossing wires are insane though. wonder how birds fly around.
right must be very nice to see that!
I love blue christmas lights. ^^
Hmm. Thats something we don't see here. Maybe Chinese New Year.. ^^;
haha my family hasn't put any lights up yet for christmas... infact we don't even have a tree yet, kinda stopped with all the decorations after me and my sister grew up
I'm going to put my christmas lights tomorrow, i love those blue ones! I dont have a tree neither T_T
is it just me or does the blue lights look kinda scary
i wish i was living in that place XD
Most of us here live in HDB flats so we can only put up lights on our windows...
Impressive night shot. All my digital night shots from my point n shoot looks like someone spat on the picture... and rubbed around.
i don't really like blue lights, they have a creepy feeling to it..
I'm dreaming of a ...blue?... Christmas. I like it, rarely see blue lights ^^ definitely feels colder though, hope you have a fireplace!
I agree with akiko, those lights do look a little creepy haha ^^; What ISO was that shot at? Lots of noise in that picture.
Cool photo I really like the blue lights (me likes blue in general)
Blue is a "cool" color, thats why you might feel colder then it is. Most of the people in Hong Kong live in condo building, so light outside is not really a possibility. However as far as I could see, lights and tree (fake one) near windows are also getting more rare. I guess people just don't feel like seasonal deco that you have spend time and money to put up and take down. (Not applied for Chinese New Year) Beside there are tons of light outside already~
I know someone who once had a bunch of blue lights on their house. It looked really weird. Really stood out from all the white ones.
My family had to take a whole day off work to put up our lights >.>;; Our house has layers of roofing and tons of shrubbery, and it's tradition to light up our walkway and outline the lawn with lights too, so it takes a while. We still don't put up any lights in Japan cuz the holiday spirit is just not like it is in America.
nice picture, that camera really catches some nice shots. we don't have lights outside, just on the inside, that way we can see them all the time.
The blue light look quite nice on the tree. But in my neighborhood I can't see anyone putting up any lights even if it's Christmas.
I see drying clothes.
For some reason the shot of the sky and blue lights makes me feel at calm and at ease...
The blue light on the tree makes it look like blue herbs from Resident Evil :P
Ah, so X-mas lights for the house are common in Japan, too! There's a neighborhood across street from where I live that holds an annual competition for the house with the best X-mas lights. I don't know what the prize is, but almost all the houses have lights, and some are too awesome for words. This one won a few times, I think: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8RNk8M75kA The lights would blink to music playing from a radio station.
Those clouds in the background are so pretty.
Hmm... guess those blue Christmas lights are around the world too. I thought it's only here. I guess the "Going Green" revolution is around the world as well. Or in this case, going blue ^^
Hmmm, I just notice how densely packed the residential buildings are in that shot... Interesting you went with simple blue lights though, Danny. It seems to be the choice for a few people around my neighbourhood too this year except they've curled them around pine trees in their front yard. Usually it's multi-coloured or white - we go with blinking multi-coloured ones =P
i just love the Christmas spirit
Nice picture, the lights looks cool. So calming.
Nice. More inspiration for photos.
I love Christmas lights! Specially when every house in the city has something on. It's so beautiful!
nothing beats fresh & cold evening air right, danny? ^^
Sky looks beautiful - could be an idea for a new series, "What the sky looks like above my head at 7PM" - or maybe not :P
Wow... it really looks lovely~ ^__^
