Was recently asked whether the Haruhi Dance was still being done in Akiba. Answer = yes. And what happens when people do the Haruhi Dance? = cautioned by police. And what happens when one is cautioned by police? = fold arms at officer. More pics and a video clip at Jabro. Via Otaku.fm. Dont know about you but I prefer girls dressed up as the Haruhi girls.
Shouldn't "she" be pointing "her" finger at the cop's face instead of crossing arms and taking it? Amateur
I hope she doesn't get mad...
Hmm, the policeman was right in stopping them in their tracks. Why you say? Because they weren't even coordinated in their dance! Jokes aside, police should know better of the anime/manga world. At worst, my message for them to get addicted to anime would be "Learn better of your enemy to take proper actions". Would it work? I don't know, but it would be sweet to be arrested by an officer saying anime quotes. ^^
They would somehow deserve to be arrested for dancing THAT bad ^^"
You're seeing this from the wrong side. The cop is cosplaying as a character from "You're Under Arrest!" xD
LOL @ gamma
@gamama lol nice one
LOL, I'm with you Tempest, bet the polices get piss off when he saw them ruin the dance, and desire to stop them.
some people forgot their crazy pills today, you'll know what i mean if you actually watch that video clip. i don't mind guys dressing up as haruhi and yuki to do the hare hare yukai dance, but what they're doing is kind of an insult to haruhi
Haha... maybe the cop is a big Haruhi fan, and lecturing they're doin it all wrong. "If you can't do it right, get off the street! You're a disgrace."
i'm pretty sure this would be considered loitering
It was so bad, at this point I didn't even care if they were males or females. "You are failed otaku. Just give it up"
Isn't that a bloke? OMFG That's just asking for some police brutality... I mean, I'm all for cosplay and stuff, but dude's should stick to dude characters... Girl's dressing as guy's isn't so bad, but guys with skirts... That's just wrong...
Obligatory video of two police scaring off about 10 dancers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okeq0uuldy0 (Incidentally, parodied in Oh! Edo Rocket. Probably the most specific parody ever)
Thanks fer sharing that, dude... LOL that was funny as hell
Woo~ The group dancing wasn't too bad.. But when the police came, they all just "disappeared" ^^;
in japan, does one need some sort of permit before they could do a public demonstration (like a dance or even a protest)? if they still need a permit, then that must be the reason that the police tried to stop them
I don't think they are "shes" they look like guys to me...I see no female characteristics @_@
We need the real Haruhi to give them a kick in the butt for such a lousy impersonation
Rather a dropkick in the face *Haruhi's trademark move*
well, as last resort, they can always get mikuru to use her mikuru beam. ('~')
That attack could put a 50 km diameter hole in the death star! And their dancing is really out of sync.
What were they dancing to? LOL, the video shows us why they were caught... They're not even dancing to the song...
All I have to say is "Good work officer!!!" I don't know about the rest of you dudes but I'm pretty much getting sick and tired of people doing this dance. Seriously... what is this 2006!? It was funny and cool the first few months but after a gajillion times of seeing it in cons and online I'm prepared to call in a Marine assault on anyone who does this. Add the fact that most of the people who actually do this can't even get the dancing right let alone the costumes.
Soooo confused!!! So...how come they're not aloud to dance the H dance? I don't get it...Anyone cares to explain please?
Well Maya, I hope this link will help answering your question: http://www.dannychoo.com/blog_entry/eng/1336/Police+Hunt+Otaku/ as well as this one: http://www.dannychoo.com/blog_entry/eng/1252/Tokyo+Street+Performance/
Maybe the loud music was a public nuisance? Looked to me they were near a small shop of some sort, and the guys were a bother to the patrons.
Nope, not a small shop, but an ATM.
I saw the Haruhi dance during the winter of end of 2006 and a group of about 30 people did the dance right outside of Akihabara train station (to the right exit opposite of exit that leads to Gamers). That area is usually not that crowded so I guess that wasn't a big problem but I think more and more people do Haruhi dance now that police must be giving out warnings now. I do agree with Danny that I also want girls to dress up as Haruhi, not guys... Just see too many guys dress up in maid and other girly costumes and that make me feel sick sometimes...
i think the police over-reacted. with that in mind, i fear for a certain dancing stromtrooper as well. ^^,
the policeman's probably askin they guy "WHERE'S THAT STORMTROOPER WHO'S ALWAYS DANCIN AROUND HERE?! TELL ME!!"
LOL! Good point though. Wonder if the stormtrooper has ever been harassed by the cops.
i know huh?! i wonder what would Danny do if that happens!?
stormtrooper has bigger gun, ('~')
"BLAST HIM!!!"
The girls just did it without any preparations. Not only they are not coordinated but also the "Haruhi" actress stopped moving so lively in the middle of the song (compairing to how much she moved on the begining). This is, as I am convinced, the reason why the police officer stopped them. To be allowed to dance the Haruhi "Holy" Dance, you must practice at least for a week before performing ^^
Wait- Girls?!
LOL, where?!
....^^'.....sorry....I got too concentrated on the characters those two were playing xD
Well, I don't mind for them doing it, or trying to do it. But they should practice a bit more though ^^; I'd join in for the Hare Hare Yukai though ^^; And btw, it's the dance from another song that Aya, Yuko & Minori did at the Haruhi Gekisou event.
