Woman dies from eating Fugu

Woman dies from eating Fugu
A woman aged 45 died a few days ago after eating Fugu that she purchased from an unlicensed seafood seller.
One needs a license to sell the poisonous fish in Japan so be careful where you eat if you must try it. The license is usually displayed on the shop window.
Via Yahoo News.

TTX is a very powerful toxin... however, just eat it at a real fugu restaurant, rather than BUY it like this idiot women did from someone unknown...

generally the fugu meat isn't posionous, its the internal/glands organ that kills and if you not careful with the cutting u might end up putting the poison on your meat(explains the need for license on the seller to ensure it's safe to eat and is knowlegeble enough to to cut correctly).belive it or not fugu have high amounts of nero-toxin(poison that kills nerve cells)to kill at least 5-10 persons from 1 teaspoon of poison alone, possibly more.

when a person consumes the poison from a fugu, the person goes into a praralaysis state in which he cannot hear, feel or move and he can only just look with his 2 eyes straight and slowly die from suffocation as the poison spreads to the rest body causing internal organs to fail.

if this is the case the person who goes into this sate must go to a hospital IMMEDIATELY or die a slow silent death.

last but not least:over 50(not sure)people in japan die from eating fugu every year.likely because they buy from unliencse sellers.

p.s:sorry if its too long just letting you people have a better understanding of fugu. Y(^.^)b

just to add on on what i said:

the treatment part is this: when the person eats the poison,he has to be ensured that he is kept breathing until the poison wears off as the body purges the poison.you can say that the treatment is somewhat putting the person on life support.

thankfully the poison from the fugu is enough to paralyse and shut down the nervous system.my mistake on that part as there are many types of nero poisons. =p

Always found it a funny looking fish. ^^
But nonetheless, throughout the years it has become a silent killer.

Can't eat such a funny-looking fish.

it's actually kind of cute when i look at it puffing away... but then i remember it's very poisonous. no, i won't eat it. maybe i'll keep one in a fish tank or something and play around with it occasionally... while wearing gloves, of course.

More people still die from Halibut worms than Fugu... but its nice knowing that they have to have a license. Of course, Its probably in Japanese... not help there for me.

My aunt gave me the hollow outer shell of a fugu when I was a kid. It's all spiky and really cool, people always wonder what the heck that thing is though. It seems kind of weird to have a hollow fish but I guess it's like keeping sea shells. Funny though, despite growing up with a fugu in my room, I have no desire to try to eat fugu.

First time I heard official news about this (though I hear of statistics that a number of people dies from this every year), and it's also from an unlicensed seller.

Now THAT's playing with your life.

I still want to taste it. But I'd never do it in an unlicensed restaurant. I'd probably only eat it if the guy who cutted it ate too. :P

This is definitely one Japanese dish I would never try. How can someone eat something that in nature is already poisoned even if it's ready to eat?

One of those strange delicacies I really want to try. Have eaten fried mole crickets, whole duck embryos, bird spit, lizard eggs, and even the odd rodent. Should be interesting when that novocaine-like feeling starts to hit your mouth.
