If it were in the $75-100 US range I'd consider it, but at around $125, that's way too much, even if it is pretty handy. It would be better than just snapping quick photos of my figures next to monitor that's for sure! But a decent photo setup can be made for under $30 really.

Skip, to expensive considering some of the other fold flat light boxes that you can pickup.

A bit pricier and definitely not as portable, the Lowel EGO system (www.lowelego.com) is an excellent lighting/backdrop system for figures and other small objects. I picked up a complete kit with two lights, two reflectors and sweep (backdrop) for US$205 shipping inclusive. I've not tried it with my figures yet (though it would easily handle the 1/4 scale bunny girls), but it's done wonders for juried wood turnings.

Looks interesting, specially for professional photografers...
But I think I'd rather take some folded white carton sheets with me for that price..

Do not want. Depending on the lighting of the room, the overhang would drop an unneeded shadow. In fact, even in that picture, I see it. Better to make one's studio themselves. Portable does not always mean good.

Why am I spending that much on something I can make with a cardboard box a piece of white posterboard and some tape?

An actually good idea, if pricey. dimensions should be able to handle almost anything one can throw at it and it can pack up to take up less space!!

tempting, even if i already have my own home made setup!
