Mamamia. I think this is the most loot I've seen from a single trip to Japan. I have pics of my loots from when I first visited Japan 15-ish years ago but they are at my mums place back in the UK - will dig them up when I get back there for a trip. Back then my loot consisted of VHS idol tapes, gravure photo books, games for the PC Engine and music CDS. Original text from Adun below. Finally got around to sorting through some photos of the merchandise I bought in my Japan trip back in August. Here is a glimpse of everything but for more details check out Part 1 on my blog.
Can I has your dollfie dream please *__*
Man, I knew those jumbo grades were supposed to be huge. but nearly twice the size of an MG box? don't wanna know how much it weighs XD
Holy cow! How'd you manage to bring all that stuff back?
Haha must have brought empty suitcases there! I would have been so worried about them losing my luggage! ^_^
O_o How could you bring back home ALL that staff????? I can´t believe you checked everything by plane...Anyway, nice buyings.
About 95% of the items you see there was mailed back home via EMS. 5 EMS shipments to be exact.
Why go to Japan personally if you only ended up shipping the items like a normal online store... ?? ^^; Well, yeah.. who needs reason to go to Japan anyway... I want to go there again too... I can't believe i walked past Akihabara without doing anything!! Back then i only knew Akiba as the place to go for electronics... never knew what's goin on under the surface... lol. Anyway, nice loot!
I would think there's more available in Japan and possibly at a lower price than purchasing from an online store. Plus going to Japan is not only about buying things.
i agree
Second to that, a lot of interesting view in japan :)
Oh I see. Unfortunately we'd have a hard time doing this in Canada as Canadian customs are crafty, and obtain records of any shipments of parcels from foreign countries while you're away. They'll ding you at customs clearance when you return to the country.
Really? Awww... I guess that means whenever I end up going I won't be getting a loot this nice... ;;
Although, wait, forgot to add this, what if I mailed it to a friend or something?
Yep, that'll work. Make sure your customs label doesn't state any value > $20 tho (or < $60 marked as 'gift') or your friend will get ding with customs. Again, you never heard that from me... ^^;;
That good to know ^^
My custom also weird. You know, for toys i must pay 15% of import duty if my item value is more than 50 buck. But i buy FX lightsaber from Briantoys which ara valued around 90$, they just hand me the item without asking any money XD
@pus2meong fear the power of the force XP
Seriously?! This I did not know... x_x
Well, you can bypass this if you have a trusted alternate address you can send to that's not your listed residence, and the foreign sending address does not identify yourself. You never heard it from me tho... ^^;
customs here (and I assume in other countries too) aren't stupid. nearly every ebayer sends their stuff as 'gift' and lower the value. but if they catch you, they will want to see your receipt. in most countries you need to fill in declaration form too, when you send things to another country.
I know you get a certain amount of purchase duty free when you go on a trip. Can that be applied to things you ship back from that trip because you are unable to take it with you on a plane? I know it sounds odd but technically it is stuff you bought on that trip.
lol, indeed they are, I had a cousin who got her braces on her teeth taxed. ^^;
that is ridiculous!
ridiculous? no, this is Canada! ^^; sorry couldn't resist the excuse to use the "this is sparta" talk. ^^
That is "ridiculous? no, this is Canada! eh?"
lol. I stand corrected. ^^;
EMS?! Throw away your clothes! :eyespin:
That's A LOT of stuff! Very nice loots. I want that Guren model. >.< And seeing that this is 'Part 1', I suppose there's more?!
oh wow! Man you are the champion! That is one HUGE pile of LOOOTTTTT!
hey, it reminds me my last trip to HK, i bought about this amount of stuff in 1 day !! ^^
and you did the same thing by posting it back right? HK's postal's like half cheaper than Japan. if i ever go for some shopping trip again, i'll make sure to include 3days in HongKong. MWAHAHAHAHA!
Very huge awesome loot! I have to keep up one day.
o_O Do you have four arms or something because I have no idea how you carried that all back. That being said I envy you for your trip and all the nice stuffs you got.
He shipped some of the items. its not a good idea to get held at customs and get impeded by tax
Yeah read that after he posted. And damn customs and tax. -_-
man, I don't even buy that much when I go back to japan...
That must've cost a ton! O.o
haha, he said he exceeded his budget and is in debt to his comrades due to his BURNING desire to outdo the others in terms of spending. i think it's safe to say he spent in excess of $3K if not $5K.
$3k extra?? Woooow his loot is very impressive to say the least.
one has to take nothing and bring all you can
Wow, just wow...
You Sir, are my hero
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
gadzookes. I don't know what was more expensive, the actual trip to japan or the loot.
OMG tons of nendoroids!!
wow! that's a lot of stuff. btw is the jumbo grade zeta part of the loot? was also wondering, what are you going to do with 4 nendoroid Mikus? and 2 Melissa Seraphys?
I see a pretty big gundam model. I guess he carried it by hand? xd
Persons rich. Oh yea I was also wondering why he has 4 of a kind Mikus.
One for each face?
i personally think that's like "WUT?!" Nendos are supposed to be fun because you can interchange their poses/expressions when you're bored but having 6 of them displayed in front of you with all the different poses/expressions... i can't really derive the pleasure from that, haha. but every man's got his own poison so yeah!
*____* I'm seriously in awe right now.
from one trip ?? o_O
Dam, what a loot! You are so lucky you went to Japan before the economy started to go bad. With the current economy I am only able to buy roughly half of what I would have been able to during the time you went. Sucks that I didn't exchange back then....
amazing~~~~~~~~ m(_ _)m
i'll have to sit in the lounge if i get so many stuff. o^O how many dakimakura's here? two or three?
Yay! Fortune Arterial! Curiously, that is a lot of goods to bring back for one airline trip, and there seems to be four (4) Hatsune Miku Nendoroids, are they all the same, 0_o?
noticed a lot of people didn't even read your blog about how you sent back 5 and a half boxes worth of stuff, especially with the Jumbo grade Zeta taking up one whole box. nice that the guy at the postal got to know you well. hehe. you should've asked for his contact and maybe in future, if he's also into collecting, he can ship over to you at cheaper prices. pity you didn't find any 2nd-hand anime shops, though you DID find K-books (i love that place). you probably would've bought a lot more if you did since the stuff are 20-40% cheaper in those shops.
K-books? Are they some kind of second-hand bookshop like Book-off?
yes, exactly, but Book-off is only books and CDs. K-Books, located at Radio Hall just outside JR Akihabara, has new and used sections for almost everything. naturally, used section's variety's much less. most recommended. ^_^
An awesome haul of loot! There's more to come?! Where you in Japan for five months to obtain the Wonderfest items?
This exceeds what I bought last trip >_> Though a lot looks like just bags and poster-type things. I see no EROGE in there.
That is one damn huge amount of loot o___o
minus 10 points for no ToHeart2 or Tokimeki stuff plus 150 points for SUPERDOLLFIRE
No ToHeart?? Blasphemy!! I'm looking through da entry now.
Oh..! My dream come true O_O
4 Nendo Miku's??? 4??? WHY????? You could have got different figures instead of getting 4 of the same.. 2 fine... 3....hmmm...but 4??? eeeeeks lol
those might be the wonderfest versions maybe? *ebay*Cough*
Nice lootz you got there, I probably can't buy that much. Not even half. orz
orz. I don't think I'd ever have that amount of loots.
Holy crap, 4 Nendoroid Hatsune Mikus!!! No wonder they are always out of stock... XD Anyways, nice loot!
lol konata's explanation of why this happens is in lucky star
Very nice haul, need to wonder if he sent back some of the goods at intervals, seeing how thats far too much to drag around with you on the place
That's alot of stuff to carry. My custom will just rip me for money if the see that. Oh, another way to survive from custom is, if you bring your friend and ask your friend to carry some of your stuff, that will reduce the tax. For example you buy two item worth of 100 dollar, but let your friend to bring one, then the value will be 50 each XD. Also don't forget to buy two ticket with printed your name and your friend name, dont buy it two ticket with the same name.
Just to answer a few questions that people have raised. EMS Shipment was chosen due to the large quantity of goods I bought. Plus with EMS it's traceable and secure. What I did was simply mail off the boxes to my sister marked as gifts but with a value close to what was inside each box. This was to deter customs from being suspicious of the package and there was only two accounts where custom stopped my package, but they did not open the packages. Also I didn't get taxed on my packages since the total value was not over $1000AUD. Those interested in how much I actually spent. I don't have exact figures but look forward to an expenditure log which will cover that. The Hatsune Miku nendoroids are the Wonderfest edition. With it being a special item would you only stop at one? All the goods were shipped off at different dates but I did come to a point where the hotel room was becoming cluttered. The Jumbo Grade Zeta is indeed large. Stands about 55-60cm in height. With it being in the box, it weighs close to 7 Kgs. Look forward to Part 2. Well when I get to it.
Ah, that's what I've done also - pack up everything and send it back it every few weeks in Japan.
Wow crazy loot and I think it's on par with Rin's loot ^^
I wonder how much it cost to bring all that stuff back considering the extra baggage charges.
He was able to spend twice as much as me... Still, he got some big loot!!!!!!!!
OMG! Is that an Aria hat!? Holy crap! I didn't know they made those! I want one! I need to bug my friend in Okinawa about possibly finding one of those for me while he's in Tokyo. Maybe an Aria plushie to go with it!
Ah, I can't imagine how much I would spend if I went to Japan. Maybe not as much but I still picture it being a lot...
Wow how did this guy carry it all home in one day?
how do you fit all of that into you luggage?? i mean they have weight limits right?
I think that's about how much I brough home. Way too much stuff. bags almost burst. Wish I took a pic.
now comes the question... How to and where to goto... to get the EMS service... hmm have always been confused... Anyone care to enlighten me?
That's amazing. My loot was nowhere near that when I went last summer, mainly because I wasn't able to fit much inside my luggage. I should've considered mailing it back... but that's what next summer is for. I will be on the lookout for a storm trooper too.
oh my god! did he bring any clothes home?
that's a lot of miku nendoroids
Where DO you get those WF Figmas?
wow how much did it cost to ship this loot back home? and there's quite a few copies of miku...
Awesome loot!
That's an amazing loot! ^^ I shall have to enlist you in my raiding party! XD
Damn......nuff said
Woah! How did you manage to get those all back to your country?! Share us your secrets, oh great one! XD
lol, last time I went to HK, I brought back a few figures, but had to throw away the boxes...
Epic haul Adun. Most impressive. I see a Miku Hatsune dakimakura in there and Aria Poster book 1. So jealous. Looking forward to part 2. ^_^
OMG!!!O.o what a loot....I envy you as I can never buy so many things even if i go to Japan T.T
So...many figmas... *shots myself*
Wow, nice collection of loot ^_^
Lovely collection T_T Enjoy them~
that's some hardcore goodness loot! alright~
That loot looks like it equals mine from my first trip to Japan. It's amazing how fast you can spend money in Japan ^^'
